    I had been feeding my dog a high end food for all of her 9 years which was high in oil. She developed dental disease which spread to her kidneys. Her blood panel was terrible with high BUN numbers. I have slowly started introducing raw foods to her. I gave her a raw chicken wing to eat and she loved it! I noticed a lot of tartar removed after a few crunchings on them. It is interesting to see she naturally knows how to chew it into little pieces. I never knew how vulnerable small dogs are to dental disease by feeding them these "high end" kibble foods. I also never knew how good raw meaty bones, even chicken wings, are so good for their dental health.

    Ahyoka Star gets a raw grind of 1-3% heart, 10% unwashed green fatty tripe, 3% liver, 6% ground bone, 78-80% beef. Plus raw chicken feet, raw egg, sardines. Plus a home cooked food of
    1 sweet potato, carrots, celery, beets, kale, spinach, green beans, parsley, ground flaxseed, quinoa, oats, 1lb ground beef, 1lbs ground pork, 1.25lb chicken liver, 1.25lbs chicken heart and gizzard. After it is cooked I add a can of mackerel, salmon, oyster, and 3-4 raw eggs. I also mix in other things that are on hand. Mix well and cool, bag up in weekly portions.
    I also give her beef liver, splen, tongue, and other things when they become available. Also goats milk and I make bone broth.
    With the stems and such i grind them up and add to her food. If it's a veggie that is safe for dogs to eat the stems, trimmings are ground a used.
    It cost me $2.11 per meal to feed Ahyoka and it's worth every penny. Her veterinarian always goes on about how beautiful/good she looks, how healthy she is and how great her teeth are.

The dog's digestive system is short and lacks complexity for the sole purpose of digesting raw meat and getting it through quickly so pathogens can't affect them. I would use perfectlyrawsome.com as a guide to transition your pup :) they have great info for beginners and it's very user friendly!

    (Beef version) The ingredients for dogs are: beef, beef liver, pumpkin seeds, beef spleen, carrots, apples, butternut squash, ground flaxseed, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, and dried chicory root. The use monomorillonite clay for shape, mixed tocopherols as a preservative, and freeze dry it.
    (Rabbit version)For cats the ingredients are: rabbit (including ground rabbit bone), pork, pork liver, pumpkin seeds, carrots, apples, butternut squash, rabbit liver, rabbit kidney, rabbit lung, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, and dried chicory root. The use monomorillonite clay for shape, mixed tocopherols as a preservative, and freeze dry it.
    And they have plenty of flavors too like beef, rabbit, pork, fish, etc…
    The point is I think you should definitely try this new stuff because it is amazing!

    AMAZING VIDEO!!! thank you, all these years I've been feeding my dogs kibles. Everyone tells me dogs can't eat meat ect but I could tell that they are not happy so I started researching. I'm glad I found this video. What about the vets that say those bones puncture dogs insides? I don't want to hurt my dogs. What about puppies? Can I feed same thing?

    • @foggylog19
      @foggylog19 Před 2 lety +1

      I am still researching, puppies can eat raw but each and every meal needs to be balanced for growth and development, so if you aren't sure you can make each meal balanced with vitamins and minerals as well as the meat/bone/veg, it could be worth looking at supplements that balance a meal or a meal base you add to meat to make sure it is balanced. Seek a dog nutritionist if not sure or holistic vet.

    So I’m from the deep boonies and my kin breed dogs and a raw diet can actually be EXTREMELY dangerous to young dogs still growing, it actually causes there’s bodies to grow too quickly beyond the capability of the connective tissue of the joints to grow which can actually cause permanent leg, hip, joint pain to dogs who were fed raw while in the growth stage, it’s essentially the worst kind of growing pain. This isn’t true for more primitive dogs like laikas, huskies, and wolf dogs, but most dog breeds have adapted to a diet primarily made of grain and fat as the main source of calories with meat supplement, the most common dog food for the Amish in my area is cornmeal mixed with lard and game entrails whenever there available. Just want to warn others, I’ve seen my fair share of 1 year old hounds and labs come in and they can barely walk because they were fed raw and now they have undeveloped joints.

    I used to think that human food is what caused worms in dogs and would kill them 10 times faster! I’ve done a lot of research online and found that store bought dry kibble is the absolute worst thing you can feed your dog because it causes all kinds of health issues. This kind of raw feeding makes more logical sense to me. I’m throwing that crappy store bought dry food out and going to buy some fresh food for him. My dogs teeth have built up so much bacteria and his breath is TERRIBLE. Does raw feeding help to control bad teeth and breath? I was wondering why his teeth kept going bad even after brushing, it’s got to be that dry kibble!!

    • @PawsofPrey
      @PawsofPrey  Před 3 lety +1

      Great! Yes one of the benefits of raw is less tarter buildup, though the dog's dental genetics also play a role in how quickly they may start to develop dental issues. Chewing on raw meaty bones acts like a toothbrush as they crunch down!

      you can feed raw as long as you give them everything they need (like shown in the video above) if you don’t get it right it can cause a deficiency which ain’t great for a puppy. it sounds scary but once you get the hang on it it’s really easy. and the video has lots of expensive meats which can be substituted for cheaper meats.

    I think chicken bones are essentially bad for dogs and can cause impactions .i only feed big hard bones
    You need an overall2:1 ratio of calcium to phosphorus .This diet is high in phosporous very low in calcium
    Fur is not fibre and can cause hair balls and impaction
    Raw egg destroys biotin
    Nuts can upset the pancreas
    Spinach can cause kidney damage
    Mince is very bad for gums and teeth
    This diet lacks carbs that increase the size of the faeces .This means the snal glands will probably impact
    Suggest you do a course on dog nutrition

    I've been on a carnivore diet for a long time now and so have many others exclusively eating ground beef.
    All I have come across are thriving, I doubt the need to make the diet so complicated. The RDAs/RDIs for humans are not based on anything sensible and so I doubt it would be better for dogs. No animal has static nutrient requirements. If can thrive on just ground beef so can my dog.
    Though if someone disagrees with me I would appreciate your opinion assuming you're reasonable.

    Why is a ratio diet being used, there is science based nutrition that supports the use of the NRC(National Research council) nutritional guidelines. With using the nutritional guidelines it’s overall more supportive to ensure nutrients are being met and balanced using fresh foods and supplements. It gives a complete nutrient analysis of the diet and calories based on the dogs nutrient and calorie needs.

    This can be very confusing because if you Google raw feeding it says in one category that it's okay and then I know they're category it'll say it's not okay and you should cook it before feeding it to your dog I'm not trying to spend hundreds of dollars on a raw diet I know chicken liver is really cheap and it comes with the heart eggs are pretty cheap I'm not sure what else I could find at Walmart or Piggly wiggly I don't even like eating hamburger meat that is cooked from Walmart so there's no way I would give that to my dog raw , maybe I can just buy some lambs dog food because the main ingredient is beef or chicken depending on which one you get but it also has bad ingredients even the $30 or $40 dog food has bad ingredients like meat and bone meal that's normally roadkill and then wheats and corn so even though the ingredients start out with beef or chicken it still has the corn and the other bad ingredients. I want the best for my dog but I'm not going to spend more money feeding him than I do my family lol
