Aires Fernandes worked for the Cathedral of Coimbra. Although he is counted among the most important composers of Portugal, almost nothing is known about his life. The Alma Redemptoris Mater is one of the Maria antiphones within the Catholic tradition.
JIP Chamber Choir is a project choir from Utrecht, the Netherlands, founded in 2013 by brothers Jonathan and Imre Ploeg. JIP wants to present new and unknown choir music from all over the world, brought together in surprising, engaging and fundamental themes like war and peace, the nomadic life, the refugee crisis and the ecological crisis.
For this project we worked together with the fantastic ensemble The Windsor Consort. We have immersed ourselves in the culture, language and music of Portugal.
