5 FAMILY MEALS FOR £26 | BUDGET FRIENDLY MEALS

- Today I am sharing 5 family meals which are coming in at £26 in total. These meals and are really quick and easy and what's great about them, is that they are very versatile too which mans you can swap ingredients out to make this veggie or even cheaper if you would prefer.
MEALS & INGREDIENTS:
Chicken & Leek Pie:
2 large chicken breast, puff pastry, 200g soft cheese, 1 leek, 2tsp wholegrain mustard, 1 veg stock, peas.
Sausage Burgers:
Burger buns, 10 pack sausages, sage, lettuce, potatoes.
Pesto Gnocchi:
2x pack gnocchi, 1 avocado, fresh basil, 20g pine nuts, 1/2 pack bacon, 1 veg stock.
Dahl:
2 tin lentils, 1 tin coconut milk, 1 tin chopped tomatoes, 1 veg stock, 1 onion, 3 cloves garlic, ground - cumin, ginger, curry powder & paprika, 300g rice.
One Pot Pasta:
400g spaghetti, 1 punnet tomatoes, 1 veg stock, 1/2 jar olives, 200g soft cheese, oregano.

Food is so expensive and many of these things aren't available in the Caribbean but did I watch and drool over each recipe? Yes😂

Hi Kerry - I read a comment about protein. I'm interested in protein meals around 20-25g per meal without eggs. I dont eat them unless it's a cheesy quiche or in cakes🤭
I'm loving having more protein & some new ideas would be fab.

Hi, I’ve seen people using a pack of bacon off cuts - will have to try those fine if you only want to cut it up into small pieces. Love your channel x
ohh Ive never seen bacon off cuts.. but I will look for those next time in the shops.. and I bet they are much cheaper too :) xxx
500g packet of cooking bacon is 85p form Sainsbury’s x
Pine nuts are very expensive, a jar of pesto is pennies, not much vegetables in your meals. There’s so many delicious plant base and vegan meals with lots of fresh and delicious vegetables in them.

Can you do a high protein menu. I’m aiming for 30grams per meal for my (very early) peri menopausal weight gain and to decrease my hunger between meals.

On your pie dish when you are brushing it with milk, it looks like you have put something under the pastry?
Oh yes I put a little shot glad under the pastry so it sits above the meat so the pastry gets nice and crispy!!!! I don't know why but Ive just always done that!!! My shot glass is super thick and can take ALOT of heat!!! lol xxx

That bacon looks different than US bacon. Is it smoked? It looks much leaner. I wonder if we can get that here. Maybe by a different name.
ohh Im not sure.. that's just typical bacon rashers over here.. I usually get unsmoked bacon xxx

Hey Kerry, hope you’re well I’m happy, good and well thank you good morning love this 5 budget friendly family dinner ideas video. Gnocchi pasta with the pesto sauce with pine nuts sounds delicious. We’ve had a homemade pasta bake with mince beef and tomato sauce and it was so yummy and really delicious. The chicken and leek pie is really scrumptious and amazing. The pork burgers are nice. But you easily swap out the pork / sausage to make this burger with chips to a chicken burger and chips. The easy Dahl is good! The one pot pasta sounds brilliant and tasty. You can make these 5 dinners really simple and easy as well. However they’ve also really versatile. Swap out ingredients to make these dinners veggie or even more affordable if you would prefer. Would love to see more budget friendly family dinners videos like this one please? Can I have your thoughts about my comment and also tell me what is the name of the new video which is coming on Tuesday evening 7:30pm from you please?
