I did thanks,
I’ve been a resident of Old Town Pasadena for 14 years. It’s a wonderful place to live. Thanks for this video. ♥️
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
That's great. I love your channel.
Pasadena, California is beautiful. California is such a beautiful state. Love from Chicago Illinois. Pasedena is home to many cultural and scientific institutions.
How I wished to celebrate Christmas this year in America. It is not a problem. Pray for me, my son, and my daughter that we celebrate Christmas with you next year in America.
That's awesome Christmas is my fav Holiday
Pasadena is nice and clean and safe to walk, and also close to downtown, ..
if only DTLA looked like this
@@Striker50_ If it's pretty too
You know there have been several shooting in Pasadena lately right. A 13 Year old was shot in his house while playing video games
@@claudiomonreal4822 Pasadena is huge. Crime in most areas is low. Stuff like that is bound to happen in every large area that is broken into different zones, some wealthy and others a bit poor.
Lmfao two months ago in old town a homeless man put a gun to my head 💀
Don't think twice to go and enjoy at pasadena old Town .
Its beautiful and safe!!
Very beautiful. Thank you. I need to be there
Love Pasadena California! ❤
Have lived in this town for 25 years. Love it❤️❤️❤️
hi, my name is Waithera and next year me and my family are moving to this town. are you able to tell me what it’s like? in schools as well
waithera is my kenyan name that i go by if you are confused
What is now the Goldline Metro train that runs partially underneath Old Town Pasadena.. Use to be an above-ground freight train. It gave Old Town a sort of charm to see a slow-moving freight train run across Colorado Blvd through the alleyway just West of Arroyo Parkway. There were lots of great spots to eat and drink, Moose McGillycuddy's, Billy's Dugout, Jake's, Twin Palms, McCormick & Schmick's, Q's Billiards. Which is now Barney's Beanery. The Baked Potato, Jerry's Famous Deli, etc.
Any Southern California Natives remember Old Pasadena in the 90s an early 2000s? If you liked night life without the drive to Hollywood? than Old Pas was it. From Thursday nights to Saturday nights the side walk on Colorado from Arroyo Parkway west to Pasadena Ave, then from Green Street, North to Union St was packed with party people. An article in the Pasadena Weekly wrote Old Town Pas would get anywhere from 4K up to 8K depending on the time of year. When you add the ones cruising up and down Colorado, I would say up to 10K... It was an awesome 1st date spot as you had the traditional movie and dinner with restaurants ranging from $$ to $$$$.
And if the date was going really well, then you had dozens of night clubs/bars to go dancing OR both can head over to a bar of Ur choice. If you want to get crazy drunk, than the world famous Freddie's 35er Bar was cool. If you want to impress but not over do it on fun, then a round of pool with ONE!! i REPEAT ONE!! bowl of "Tea for Two" yes, that's a Long Island Tea for Two at Jake's Billiards (no longer there) After that it can be close to last call, and now after being filled up on liquid courage, it's time to see where the night takes you (Ur place Or hers)😀
Or if you didn't have a date, then it was a great place to meet Ur possible future wife/husband Or the one that got away and left you with a great memorable night.. As you can tell I was in my 20s during the 90s and now married with three adult kids and 5 grandchildren, living in Henderson NV. I truly love my new neighborhood with my backyard having a distant view of the Las Vegas Strip....
But growing up in San Marino CA, that borders with Pasadena will always have that place in my heart. It was 2010 give or take a year that Pasadena City Hall definitely took the fun out of Old Town Pasadena.
*BTW* My childhood buddy met his now wife of 22 years at King Taco at 3:00am on a Saturday Night after partying at Mouse McGillicuddy's. Actually it was Sunday Morning at 3am and my buddy and I never thought we would be grandparents at 55 years old.
Continued into the 2010's too. But yes when you could hop spot to spot, it was so perfect and getting home was nice and easy. It was a great time!
LOL, in High School (mid 80's), you could find my friends and I at Marilyn's, if you remember that place!
Pasadena got too popular and upscale since 2000s. Slowly the fun things disappear that attracted all types. The movie theaters is now Tiffany's. Barnes and noble closed. It could be that people today don't shop at these kind of retail stores like gap, j crew, etc. I think Glendale galleria and Americana at brand sucked the regions retail esp Pasadena, Burbank and eagle Rock. Today nightlife is more spread out in Highland Park, Downtown LA, echo park, Glendale. Pasadena shrunk but still has some. But nothing like the 90s
@@saybanana Part of the "problem" is that Pasadena is a real grid of real streets. Places like The Grove, Third Street Promenade, Universal City walk, and The Brand are all artificial constructs, tightly managed, with a balance of certain kinds of shops. That makes it easier to keep just enough restaurants, book stores, night clubs, bars, and shopping spots. OldTown depends only on luck and commerce to keep the right mix.
Great city to work in. Especially with all the restaurants there and other activities. I would go there for Swing and Salsa dancing.
Hmmm. Dance class sounds like fun. I wonder where you go....
Please post the Rose Parade, prep and or park display of floats. Excellent photography, thank you.
Something so weird seeing the town you live in in someone else's CZcams video haha. Very nice video, hope you enjoyed it there and thanks for stopping by! Also there was an Animecon in that convention center (at the end of the vid) over the weekend, in case people wondering why there are cosplayers around there
Agree!
Lol. I was thinking the same thing. I’ve lived in old town for 14 years and never saw it like this. So cool.
Hoow are you?.broth, omg! that's breathtaking .all the best- 🤘
Thank you for posting. I remember Swags across Streets, garlands around poles and Christmas Tree Lane a drive through grand tree decorated street and lights everywhere. A wonderful celebration of holidays my whole family enjoyed when growing up in Pasadena California. Merry Christmas, love, light and peace in the New Year and always to everyone.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
And don't forget the Hastings Ranch neighborhood display, and also the Balian Mansion display!.
It’s all good in Pasadena!
Wild to think people will be watching this 100 years from now! 🤯
Nice ! I used to go there often with friends. Still a great place to walk , shop, and dine.
PASADENA, CA IS BEAUTIFUL.
its beautiful until you hear all the shooting and killing happening
@@anniee1007 That happens nowhere near downtown/old town. Pasadena is a huge city, been almost everywhere and haven't heard a gun shot in years.
@@rickjones5399 I live in Pasadena and near old town. There’s been and continue to have shootings and violence. Have you not been aware recently? Pasadena is getting worse and worse
@@anniee1007 There's always been some crime in Pasadena. It's definitely less than 10-20 years ago. There tends to be more crime during the holidays. That happens in most major cities. It's unfortunate, but it happens.
@@rickjones5399 These past months there have been at most two shootings a day. Living in fear knowing something can happen to you being outside OR even being in your own home . Never know what can happen in these streets.
Awesome thank you for this great video :) !
why is this so relaxing lol
Same here. I live about 30 minutes away and visit Pasadena almost every weekend. My favorite place ❤️
yay! I'm really happy that you keep showing us how things are getting back to normal
Very nice at night time, i used to go community college there.
Nice video.
thank you 🤞🏻💚
Welcome! Thanks for watching!
The decorations look sparse this year. Can’t wait to see the parade.
You should do a daytime video of The Shops On Lake Avenue. Thank you for the Pasadena video. It’s a very special place for me. 👍
Barneys is my spot!!
Essa cidade é linda. Se eu pode-se e meu dinheiro desse! Iria morar aí....rsrsrs
Havent been there in years, great place to walk around at night though I would never do it too much cause i'd be worried about something happening....
Why? Nothing bad is going to happen! Just a pleasant strollabout. Why would you think that about lovely Pasadena? It's a nice place, and away from the Riffraff. My Grandma's historic church and Mom's school - St. Andrews, up Raymond.. I love the history, and am now imagining a slow moving freight train as well.
Love my neighborhood! Great video to highlight this little gem.
Christmas in Downtown California
Nice walk
Thanks!
I really enjoyed this video.. It makes me want to go more than ever
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice quality! Can you do a drive of Beverly Hills and also West Hollywood?
Where in Beverly Hills? Rodeo? West Sunset? West Wilshire? Little Santa Monica?
I heard Mandarin🥰
Diversity
Yes, the Chinese/Taiwanese community is big around here
Back in the early 2000s I use to love going to Pasadena and San Marino. I did not see any homelessness in your vid. Wondering if it is impacting that area too or is it mostly in LA
L.A. is a very huge place. There are not homeless people in most places. There are Many lovely clean areas, just they are extra expensive now.
👍👍👍👍👍
I see people wearing jackets. Is it typically chilly at night in the summer?
It's December.
Saludos adiós Ja ja ja ja
I don't recognize Pasadena anymore....I was there from 86-89, it was almost like a city that time forgot.....
Old Town has changes a lot since then.
Andarilho
I live here. It's a nice city but the nightlife is so B-o-r-i-n-g!! As you can tell from the video. Mostly yuppie lounges and people talking. Live music is scarce. I guess visiting so many European cities has spoiled me. It's more family oriented which is fine. I could live in a much worse place like LA which is about 10 miles.
Just curious, what would you rate Pasadena on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best?
I live here so im biased but I would rate it a 7 out of 10. It is in Los Angeles county but it feels separated from most of the BS that comes with living in LA or SoCal for that matter. its 20-30 minutes away from most major attractions, close to the beaches and fairly close to 3 major airports. We have a huge community college, and some high end colleges like Cal Tech and Art Institute. We have JPL located here for people who want to work in that field, plus a ton of Medical centers for those career paths. As far as food places go we have a metric-ton of food option ranging from all delicacies. Old Town is our downtown but there are other smaller nooks that cater to locals for bars and nightlife. But best of all, the regular riff-raf you get from LA in almost none existent here.
@@Kechioh that sounds like a 9 or 10!
@@superamazingworld3770 Also didn't mention the Gold line that will ride you straight into DTLA, & The Rose Bowl which serves as a large field or for going on brisk walks/ runs. Then there's the Norton Simon if you want to see some world-class art
4. The properties are either overpriced, old, and outdated OR are new but have been thrown up in a matter of months. Crime is up and sales tax is high. It is nice to be able to look north and see the mountains and that the city is easy to navigate.
It's a overall pretty city - 8. It is really middle class suburb city. Nice architecture. Not too busy but with amenities of a big city like a convention center, major university, museums, sports stadium, walkable dense neighborhoods, metro stations, many buses. It is somewhat boring. It lacks the edgy vibrancy of the 1990s. But maybe it doesn't want to be that.
Is it always this dead?
you have bloods and crips living in north pasadena by altadena. i live in south pasadena much better and safe place
Excuse me Pasadena folks. Just took a ride cruise to trendy Pasadena town and cruised through some residential streets (only a few homes) and obviously some store TOTALLY not merry "Merry Christmas" FESTIVE in mind more like a trendy gloomy City what happened to the Christmas PASADENA Christmas spirit people??? p.s. even the LOWER INCOME neighborhoods look festive happy what a shame!
By the way our festive visit was just yesterday after 5pm very surprised!!!
???
Yep I was in Pasadena in 2013 and it was the same with most miserable empty streets. A few cars very few pedestrians empty empty. I thought it might be a public holiday and that was why it looked empty. Where are all the people.. How do these shops survive?????? Is this Sunday????? It was ten o'clock in the morning and you could fire a gun down the middle of the street. Creepy place. Big bank size buildings shut up. And had been like that for what looked like a long time. I saw a rat run out if a building. Most exciting thing all day
Who needs cars 24/7. I love the peaceful early mornings with few people stirring. The busiest in Pasadena is during the Parade. 24/7 people and cars. Can't wait for them to leave.
I've always found it charming when I go there. Love it from Arrow to PCC, and over and down. Such cozy neighborhoods, and clean streets. A few vagrants here and there I have seen, but how do they avoid having homeless encampments on their streets?
Sty out of LA the police say they can't keep you safe!
homeless everywhere dangerous are stay away.
Pasadena is the worst city I've ever lived in my life!!!! So much corruption here!!!! It's sad!!!!
I live there.its not safe.many homeless.many mentally ill in streets.many shootings.pasadena is nice..but not as great as CZcams portrays.
Where are the many homeless congregated?
Pandemic, homelessness, housing shortage… it’s not only here it’s happening in other states too
it horrible pasadena is a toilet lol . No local go there only people from 90032 90042 lol the local go to lake ave lol .
Slow down and try again. You just had a bad experience, you are the only person who doesn't like it here, and calm down with the "lol's"
