Best video yet. Used the king for treats. Then went straight to freezing dry and wet food and doesn't want any part of it. Great vid. Definitely going to restart my kong training with the pup.
Fantastic video! Very useful information thank you. (Personally I do not have a dog YET, but I'm amassing my knowledge to eventually persuade the wife. Muahahahahaha!!!)
Need this, I have a beautiful female shepherd puppy. She is 5 months old but seems to suffer from anxiety pretty badly and cries terribly when I put her in her crate. Hoping a filled kong treat will help her relax a little bit.
Nope, you could start Kong training even with an old dog. It could take you a little longer but totally doable. This video was great but there are some other videos that give good tips on how to get your dog to take interest in the Kong initially. Just search How to use Kong toy and you will find them.
Anyone else noticing their Kongs deteriorating after being frozen? The rubber is cracking and can be pulled off. I’ve bought 4 different kongs , red, pink, black, different sizes and they’re all doing this
One quick question, so when I put the kong in the freezer just the wet food gets hard and not the dry one right? (just got an 8 week german shepherd and he's absolutely just love level 1)
Hello! In level 3 (3/4 dry, 1/4 wet - then place in the freezer to solidify wet food) the wet food should get hard and take a while for the dog to lick off before getting to the loose dry food beneath!
@@SanDiegoHumane thanks! My GSP just wants to gobble all the food like it's a competition, so this will help (I got two Kongs so when he's ready level 3 will definitely be so helpful!)
Maybe make it a bit harder to get to the actual Kong? I tried partially sticking mine into a different, bigger toy so pup has to work to get the Kong and to get the food. Or getting a smaller size kong, maybe, since it would make it harder to get the food out 🤷♀️
I'm trying to toy proof our furniture with barriers so that toys can't go under the couch, or instance. Would hate to give him his food in a toy and then he couldn't get it out from under the furniture.
Thanks for this. At first I did level 5 straight off the bat not knowing to start at level 1. We are now at level 3.

Thanks for the useful info!
Awesome video. Thank u👏
Thanks good videi
"if you have a dog that gobbles down their food in 2 minutes" ... HAH! how about 20-30 seconds....? my lab, on the clock! :)
Talk about the KISS method...great video
Saving for future reference.
Super helpful, thank you!
When u don't follow the levels savage😎😅JK🔥
Our doggie...started at lvl5. Lol. 15 min later...done. Ugh
Awesome thanks
I did not know their where levels.

Yeah this is new to me. I was ready to jump to "level" 5

Hey great video what size kong for a 9 month old kokoni thanks
Thank you.. that was more helpful than any of the other videos.. I will be watching this again.. My puppy is 5 months old.. is it too late to start?

can we use peanut butter for level 2?
not alot but some?
I use yogurt then freeze, my dog loves frozen treats for some reason (maybe because is always hell in TX lol)
Just make sure the peanut butter doesn't contain xylitol as it's toxic to dogs

I’m not cool with giving my dogs human food so this really helped. Thanks
My dog does not like her kibble to get wet and soggy
I love this but my issue is that I give my dog a level 5 kong but in 10-15 minutes he makes it through it and gets board again

Will this make a mess on carpet?
zentember wet food will. I give my dogs theirs in their kennel so it creates a positive association with the kennel.

Randy McCoy kennels work great ;)
Honestly level two should be level four or three
Is this a meal replacement or do you still feed the dog normally?
HowCaseySeesIt measure the amount of food you put in the long and deduct that from their normal meal amount.

isnt mixing wet and dry food super bad due to the different digestion times of both?
Alex Spieslechner Cooked food have the same digestion time. Only raw and cooked food should be fed seperately. hope this helps
Do you have any idea about the freezed kong can be dangerous for the stomach or the throat ? , Does anyone have experience about it ?
there is no danger, it takes time to melt so dog will never swallow frozen food, it cools them down in summer as well.
New to kongs, I was told not to leave dogs alone with kong?
If you have a big dog it can be hell as they can crack it with power and then choke or hurt themselves :(
Very basic, good info for novice dog ownwrs
How long should you stay on each level?
you dont have to stay on any level. we are on lev5 straight away - it lasts the longest and makes it the most interesting for our dog
Don't skip levels.
it will discourage the dog because it is too confusing.
until you master it
My dog hates his kibble
Mine too, I think I’ll start feeding raw, not these food pellets
What kong size is that
