    • @DaliborSaula
      @DaliborSaula Před 2 lety

      @@CreativeVideoTips Yeah I thought Adobe premiere was the pinnacle of video editing. Honestly though over the years it's become way too expensive for just someone that wants to create some home videos and an odd client video on the side. Actually also considered video editing as a bit of a chore sometimes compared to this new speed editor. It's just something about it that makes you want to edit. The cut page is very innovative for the prosumer market. I can see it being even more valuable editing short films etc.
      p.s. One great thing you've pointed out was to only look at rubbish footage once - and to create bins for the HQ footage you actually want to use in the timeline. I think that will save me a ton of time when I get back to editing short films and different takes etc. I just used to shuffle through 10 mins of garbage to find a 10 second bit I needed, ten times throughout the hour ahah

      Good idea about sharing this about sync bin. It sure can be more finicky then it seems it needs to be. One thing that is great when you use things like live overwrite and sync bin is a more fluid back and forth between color and editing without needing to break down a traditional Multicam clip.

      Hmm, I don't trim regular Multicam in the cut page often, but it sounds like what would help is to make sure you audio and video are linked. you can select both, right click and choose link clips at the bottom - this should give you a chain link which marries the clips when linked selection is turned on (the chain link icon) between the timeline and the viewer in the edit page.

      I found the same thing after the update. Don't worry it's not broken.
      You need to remove your device from your bluetooth lists (on a mac i think they call it forget the device). After that plug it in open resolve - then pair it again. After this new pairing you should be able to edit without the cable.

    Thanks for your videos. Is it possible to do an asymmetrical trim with Speed Editor?

      I don't think so. That would be cool if there was a modifier way to do that.

    Hi Chadwick, very good videos you've delivered. Please answer the following question. What is the pressure function of the rotary knob for? Would be nice if you could explain that to a German fan. Greetings Sebast

      Hey Sebast. Good question. Unfortunately though, pushing in on the knob actually does nothing. Seems like a missed opportunity by Black Magic.

    Is this all documented somewhere? I have this damn thing and keep learning hidden functions of the buttons. Thanks

      @CreativeVideoTips  Před 3 lety

      Me too! But yep, most of the functions are documented in the reference manual that you can find if you pull down the help menu. They certainly don't have everything in there but it is a REALLY good resource and well written!

    I'm getting frustrated lol. Why after I split clip and then ripple delete it deletes entire timeline?

    Before I commit to purchasing this Device, do these trimming functions on your excellent Video work in the edit page? I am aware certain things work in the Cut Page, that don't work in the Edit page .. but I can't find confirmation if the things you specifically covered here, work in the Edit page. No massive issue if it doesn't, I will just have to get used to using the Cut Page which to be honest, I have veered away from since using DR. I am much more comfortable in the Edit page. thanks for the Video !! either way VERY useful ! Sorry one final question, is there a way to do a blade cut through all items where the play head is using this Speed Editor? ie: the CMD B key shortcut?

    • @paulg3388
      @paulg3388 Před rokem

      I ordered one and got it delivered via our friend Amazon Prime, and happy to say it cuts through all of the multiple layers just like the CMD B shortkey, now THAT is useful !!! I saw your other Video on the long presses too, so I will have to train my brain to remember all these things. I don't do this all day every day, but just this split button through all layers is awesome enough !! :)

    How do you delete a clip with the RIPL DEL button? When I press it, the clip is deleted, but a placeholder remains in the same place.

    • @CreativeVideoTips
      @CreativeVideoTips  Před 3 lety +2

      This will happen if it’s a clip not on track 1 or there is secondary audio. This is maintain sync relationships.
      Is it possible that is what’s happening?

    How is DR17 doing so far? Many bugs or crashes?

    • @CreativeVideoTips
      @CreativeVideoTips  Před 3 lety +1

      The only bug I’ve experienced is using the mark button on the speed editor with the triple tap to jump in and type notes into it that after doing this once it locked up the software and it needs a relaunch.
      It opens with nothing lost and I’m not sure if this has to do with the fact my keyboard is also Bluetooth.
      Overall I’ve been very happy with 17.
