Absolutely wonderful film! Jack Lemmon & Kim Novak are adorable and on fire! So is Fred Astaire. A perfect cast all around.

How have I never seen this movie. I'm a huge Fred Astaire fan, I love Jack Lemmon and one of the greatest beauties Kim Novak. This was a great fun movie.

Kim Novak was my heartthrob when I was 11. Along with Annette Funicello,Sandra Dee, Tuesday Weld, and Hayley Mills. The last 4 were much nearer my age. But Bell, Book and Candle with Stewart, Lemmon, and Novak, WOW

We all love the lighter side of Jack Lemmon so much but we have to acknowledge what a truly fine dramatic actor he was. He elevates any film by his mere presence.
It became interesting when Fred Astaire appeared. It became lively. The pace changed. He is an exciting performer even when not dancing. This is a slightly different Astaire role. I’m in the midddle of movie, I haven’t finished it yet 😅

I thought I had seen every movie Jack Lemmon had ever done. This was truly a treat to enjoy. I hope future generations will always enjoy his body of work. He was certainly a member of the best Hollywood will ever have to offer! RIP Jack.

Films made by Americans seem to think black cabs are used all over England. When in reality they are only used in London and I think Manchester. Admittedly a very few view are used in other places but most taxis outside London are normal road cars.

When my sister lived in Saudi Arabia there was no alcohol in the country. They were still beheading royal daughters for being royal pains in the butt back then. She had a driver and a servant who did most of the household shopping. Women weren't allowed to drive. She did not have to be covered head to toe as a foreigner but it was sometimes safer to cover her blonde hair. They were also very security minded concerning their blue eyed, blonde little girl. They lived in Sumatra for a while, too. Her hubby was an oil company engineer. The textiles she brought back to me! Oh, my golly! Batik, wood block prints, all hand dyed and printed.

53:50. Can you imagine being able to afford steaks like that in 2024? That's at the very least $60 of beef. Every piece of beef I've cooked at home has been tough as leather for the last decade. Standard techniques for tenderizing don't seem to help much.
Good thing I like pork and chicken. Nothing beats a thick pork steak grilled to perfection.

18:50. She has her dress on backwards. I'm glad I'm not the seamstress putting Ms Novak's design together. This piece is beautifully made and fits her properly but weird. Wondering what color it was. The fabric looks to be a heavier weight than I might have chosen. I'm a bit of an amateur fashion historian and revel in the clothing in these old movies. The cars, the interiors of buildings. But especially the cut and drape of women's clothing.
They even got the car number plates wrong.
I have forgotten Don Lemmon. He was one of the best. Perfect timing. The director was pretty good too. And writers. Just a feel good movie.

The first 90% of this movie is very good. But the ending is really stupid.
