    An ever-changing landscape looks pretty good right now.

    I hope Firefox keeps being a thing in next years. We need alternatives and not everything "chromium based".

    Hi Leo, on my Linux computer, I mostly use Chrome. On my Android phone, I use mostly Firefox, because if I use Chrome, I'm continually bombarded with ads.

    I have never used Vivaldi, but I heard that it is feature rich, very versatile, loaded with customization options.
    For privacy and security, Brave (as our host mentioned) is the way to go.
    For the highest level of privacy and security, use TOR browser (a Firefox fork).
    Used on its highest setting, few sites will function, due to the browser blocking all manner of privacy and tracking actions from web servers.
    For any browser, know that when you add extensions, you are making yourself easier to be tracked. Leaving your browser in its default configuration will let you blend in with the most people using that same browser. But short of using only TOR browser, you are going to be tracked.

    Edge. Works good. Everything I need. No issues.

    Why not just use profiles that are built into Edge/Chrome, etc, for each gmail log in?

    Just three browsers on my own Windows 10 laptop computer: Google Chrome usually in Incognito mode, mostly for speed; Firefox, although a little slower than Chrome, is the typical alternative; Epic Privacy Browser on some occasions when I really want privacy; and on the machine but I almost never use it is MS Edge. I said "just three browsers" but there really are four. Edge naturally came included with Windows.

    Well said! Currently I use 2, Edge & Chrome. I am considering Vivaldi and now Brave. Firefox is ok just quite was not there with it, but it is good. I guess as you stated it is all about preference and there is nothing wrong with using more than one. As you stated you really can't go wrong.
    Thanks for this topic.

    I have enjoyed using Opera, it is a nice browser, that has a simple layout and is easy to use.

    Hi Leo,
    I have Linux MX-Lite on my 3 laptops and use Chrome browser, but was wondering which browser is best for net banking. This Brave I never heard before... and thinking it might be safer.

    I like Chrome a lot, but I'm concerned about their using my info. So I use Firefox almost all the time. What are your thoughts on the relative privacy options between these 2?

    • @askleonotenboom
      @askleonotenboom  Před 2 lety +4

      I believe most privacy concerns about browsers are overblown. I'm comfortable using any of them, including Chrome. However if it's of concern to you Firefox is a nice alternative, as is Brave.

    It would be good if it was possible to sync bookmarks between two browsers and be in sync for every change on one browser or the other browser

    • @askleonotenboom
      @askleonotenboom  Před 2 lety

      Most browsers support sync across the same browser used on different machines. Example Edge on one machine syncing with Edge on another.

    Why do you do so much with Google made programs? Chrome and Edge and Gmail are tracking everything you do. Why are those the best choices? JT

      Surprisingly not horrid. But you're correct, I would not do this on just any machine. My desktop has 64GB of RAM (with room for more.)

    This guy has no clue what he is talking about. You want to talk about browsers, then how about you start with a topic such as fingerprinting.
