@@Lamborghinikid23 hes one of the most underrated players in my 20 years of covering the NBA as objectively as possible based on what he has produced VS the team support/management he has been allocated during his career. This is by making sure to leave out media narrative 100 percent and assuming all players are only judged by what they themselves can control and nothing else.
Out of all players ever( ok well, of all 5+ time all stars ever) to make it to the conference semis more than once( 3 times), Wall has had the least amount of support based on a system of allotting a point for every accolade a players teams, coaches and execs accumulated. This wasn’t my own test either, it was run by ESPN in 2019 trying to highlight how little help AD had had on the Pelicans and how he actually did pretty well considering. He was tied with Wall as the players to make it the farthest with the least help. BUT, wall came out ahead because AD didn’t even make it to game 6, and he only made it past the first round once. Wall did it 3 times in four teams and made it to a game 7 once, and 2 game 6s. Hes also never lost a playoff series to a team that was not at least the #1 seed. Never lost a series in less than 6 games. Only lost in the first round once and it was his last trip with the wizards when he had just missed two months and they fell to the 8th seed. He only had 4 games to get ready for the playoffs. He proceeds to play so well individually even hating azz espn ranks him in the top 10 for all first round performers in the entire playoffs despite his team losing the series. He finished in the top 10 in points, assists, steals and blocks per game, much higher than 10th in all categories other than blocks, and even top 10 is insane for a point guard. He was 1/2 in assists and steals and 6th in PpG. He averaged 26 points 12 assists 5 rebounds 2+ steals and 1.3 blocks on 45 percent FG. He had games of 23/15, 29/9( 22 and 7 leading a second half comeback despite Beal finishing with 9 for the game), 27/9/9, 27/14/6/4( 10 of teams last 14 to seal the deal with Beal fouling out with 5 minutes left) and 28/14/6/4( joined Magic as the only players ever with back to back playoff performances over 27p/14a/6r/4s.). He did all of that after missing two months with no real help outside of Brad, still took the 59 win 1 seed to 6 close games. Had late leads in 3 of the losses. Had the worst bench and front court in the playoffs that year. All of that.
After he did that, ESPN dropped him 20+ spots on their rankings and their paragraph said “Wall AGAIN failed to lead the wizards past the first round. He averaged career lows in points and assists”.
I immediately contacted them to correct their errors. They did. They also didn’t point out how not only did he not come CLOSE to career lows, they didn’t point out that he was plating hurt the first half of the year, clearly looked back to his best after the surgery in the playoffs, and yet he STILL became the first player EVER to average at least 19.4 points 9.6 assists 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks. lol. and that was during his injured first half of the year.
wall is 3rd all time in playoff APG. he is the only player ever to AVERAGE at least 21 and 9 per game in the playoffs( 21.8 and 9.8 so acrually 22 and 10). that is out of all players who have played enough games to qualify.
only player ever to average at least 27 points and 10 assists across more than 10 playoff games in a postseason.
first player ever with at least 40/13a/3b/3s in a playoff game( shot at least 50 percent FG as well, and still didnt have the supporting cast to win)

He led a franchise in disarray before him to their 3 best seasons since 1979 by his 7th year in the league. Led them to .500 or better his last 5 years before the injury took him out for his wizards career; 4 playoff trips and 3 times advancing. They are yet to have a .500 record once in the years without him( injury/trade)
averaged 24 ppg and 8 apg in a career low MPG post Harden trade. in the worst situation in the league with a rookie coach, numerous teammates not all-in, and numerous games starting with G league call ups, undrafted rookies and career end of bench rotation guys. lead league in different lineups used. went 7-0 in the first 7 games he played without Harden and before his only all-star level teammate went out for 2 months. Averaged 24 ppg on 44/36 shooting during the losing streak prior to being injured over all star break and then trying to tough it out lowering his %s.
