When I watched this I wasn't even aware of this as a harem fantasy, let alone what a harem even was. I was into the story and characters, the show is that good! And I had a crush on Ryoko :)
Actually tenchi didn't notice Ryoko because at the time she used her other power by the cave where she was in. She knew him ever since he was a baby and has the advantage over the other girls
