    These three methods I've used and work for different scenarios. The first is the bespoke/case on case pricing which you'll use when you make made to measure garments. This methods helps you give prices based on the difficulty and style of your client's garment. I find that this works well to create prices that are fair to each client. To get a bespoke price, you'll need to multiply your decided hourly rate by the number of hours it takes you to make a garment, plus all expenses incurred and then add tax. This final price will vary from one client to the next.
    The second pricing strategy is to have a competitive price that can be used around special times of a trading year to help attract new clients or create more awareness around your business.
    The final strategy is to have a flat rate which you'll charge clients for a category of garments. This method makes price negotiations easy and straight forward. To arrive at a flat rate, you can figure out how many hours it takes you to make the said garment category and multiply that by your hourly rate.
    I hope this makes the video more comprehensive and straight to the point. It took me sometime to figure out how to price my garments, but with time you'll figure out which strategy works for you. Feel free to share any questions and suggestions below.

    Great information here. When a client agrees to have me make a bespoke item for him/her, A signed contract spelling out the details is important-it protects both the designer and the client. In addition to the signed contract from the client, I require a non-refundable deposit to at least cover any materials I must purchase to complete the garment.

    • @KimDave
      @KimDave  Před 5 lety +2

      The non-refundable deposit is a clever idea to secure the client's interest. Thank you for sharing Mary

    Hi hun, hope you are having a great holiday in Portugal. Love the new hair do! I used to do handmade custom made swimwear, is not easy because some people thinking you are charging too much 🙈. I found much easier selling on Etsy when I was doing custom made. Great videos. Thank you! 💕

    • @KimDave
      @KimDave  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks GigifashionsDIY.
      Custom swimwear seems like a very niche area of fashion and I can imagine why client's will be odd with paying for the service. I hope selling on Etsy works for you?

    • @GigiZanti
      @GigiZanti Před 5 lety +2

      AllyJaay Bellas - I know hun is not easy but it better to sell custom swimwear or clothes because many people are getting tired of buying clothes that don't fit them. I say this from experience because I used to works as Visual Merchandiser and one of the most complaints from customers was that the clothes didn’t fit well. Good luck 💕

    • @GigiZanti
      @GigiZanti Před 5 lety +1

      Kim Dave - selling on Etsy works better for me especially when it comes to friends and family, that wants something custom made I just sent them to my Etsy shop like normal customers and they see that I'm not overcharged them 😊💕

    I just came across your channel and sub already. I finished from Uni last year fashion Design, adult student and considering how fashion industry work, I decided to start my own business at home, so I have a small studio at the back of the house. it’s a bit difficult with 3 kids, this video has been really helpful, more insight to pricing. The only pricing method thought to us is : number of hours + all expenses (i.e fabric, Zip, trimmings) x 3= customed cloth. I seems to like your approach, struggling to find my foot. Or do you think I should get a job to have more experience. Your videos are helpful,

    I found this channel while trying to find videos on how to sew, etc. I'm a teen hoping to start my own fashion business as soon as I can, but I have never had any sewing lessons, pattern making classes or anything.
    Do you have any tips?
    Also, can you make a video about different kind of stitches and how and when to use them?
    And maybe a video about how to customize your patterns?

    Hey, am starting up my business and I think this video was every useful. Thank you.

      For example say I want you to make me a dress, do I bring my own fabric?

    • @KimDave
      @KimDave  Před 5 lety +1

      @@daciamatias2326 It depends on the client and you. If it's ab asoebi/wedding/birthday outfit and there is a specific fabric then they provide it. But if it's a custom order where you have to source the fabrics, you can charge them for getting the fabrics or ask them to get it themselves. It really depends.
