Apparently now that we have new head of the Royal Family, King Charles III. Changes also applies to UK passports, where the word “her” will need to be swapped for “him.”
Does that mean I need to change my passport? anyone know or heard of this?

The back cover of the new passports now feature embossed floral emblems of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Returning to the “iconic” blue and gold design.
The new passport is the most technologically advanced British passport ever, with a raft of new and updated security features, including a hard-wearing, super-strength polycarbonate data page, which contains innovative technologies embedded into the document, to keep personal data secure.
It also includes the latest and most secure printing and design techniques, which means it offers better protection against identity theft and fraud and will be even harder to forge.
The blue cover is a return to the original appearance of the British passport, with the colour first used in 1921.
It remained the colour of choice until the UK joined the EU when a change to burgundy was agreed and adopted.
All British passports will continue to be personalised with the holder’s personal details and photograph in the United Kingdom, ensuring no personal data leaves the country.
Standard passports will continue to contain 34 pages. Frequent traveller ‘Jumbo’ passports will now contain 54 pages.
Those with valid, burgundy passports can continue to use their passport for travel until it expires.

It's a strange situation when people are more concerned about what the passport looks like rather than the power it has
I received mine today. The cover is nice, but I think the interior is far better on the European passport. The new one looks a bit shoddy to me, and I suspect easier to copy. Actually I am embarrassed by it, and that it was designed by a French and Dutch company. The design has no britishness about it, unlike the old European one.

The visa pages of the passport are terrible. The United Kingdom has one of the richest histories of any surviving nation on Earth. The passport's pages should have featured artwork proudly resplendent in British history and culture.
Why does it matter, it’s going to be covered up with a visa.
I know yeh my old European UK passport was way better because it had beautiful paintings of famous monuments and people from UK

It’s very dark navy blue or “midnight blue” almost black it’s the darkest shade of blue in the colour spectrum and it depends on what light you look at it but it’s most definitely not black. This video was satisfying and I can’t wait to apply for mine, back to the old design.

Thank you for your video. Seems like the cover from the bottom left corner has a slightly peel off already, don’t know if that could cause any problems when using it? since mine got the same problem out of box. Could you please let me know your opinion or experience if you have flight with? Thanks

Try looking at the passport pages under a black light. Also, how did the bar code on the back mysteriously reappear?

@@britannia55 No, a black light. A black light picks up "invisible ink" on stuff. You find invisible writing on all kinds of things. Things like envelopes on mail, labels on products, driver licenses, etc.
You can order a black light on Amazon, as well as invisible ink.
The drawback to invisible ink is that once it gets on your skin it's hard to wash off. The upside is you can't see it without the black light.

Just received mine today applied online 3rd october sent old passports 4th October next day guaranteed delivery and signature. if you are renewing 2 passports say a married couple you can send them both to same passport office as you get 2 different offices when you apply, but can send both old passports to one office, saving you money. got my new passport 7th October. must be a quiet time for renewals. Well pleased with the service.

Hi, I have a quick question, after receiving my new/renewal passport, I signed it straightaway, which it said to do……however I’ve since heard that I need to log in somewhere on the gov.uk website and confirm this, personally I think this is rubbish and with not seeing any instructions to do so on any website or the booklet that comes with the passport, I’m thinking it’s confirmed as rubbish, have you come across this?

its the king of all passports. the british passport is very powerful and respected in every country you travel too.
Well it's sunk below the passports of lots of European passports since Brexit, I'll take a more powerful burgundy passport over a less powerful blue passport any day, and we could have had a blue passport whilst in the EU anyway
@@grassytramtracks its still a very strong passport you can enter alot of countries in the world with out a visa and its well respected in every country you travel to.

I'm a Bangladesh citizen and never been in the UK. I promise you that I will reply my comment on the day I get my British passport which is one of the biggest goal to achieve in my lifetime!!
Get an Irish one instead. Freedom of movement to Europe and automatic right to abode in UK as well.

Looks black through and through lol, but I actually like black more than blue. The coat of arms contrasts better on black and it looks smarter.

Received mine recently and was disappointed with how flimsy it felt. The covers of my old one were fairly stiff. The new ones have flexible covers and are soon going to look a bit tatty. Could we also just remind people that the trend of having a burgundy passport was never a directive but optional. The proof being the Croatian passport which has never been burgundy. We could have had this colour passport whenever we wanted without leaving the EU.
They needed to lie about the colour to continue promoting Brexit.
To my eye the overriding colour is black, looking forward to receiving mine in three weeks!

It's definitely categorized as a blue passport.
I think it looks a lot better than the burgundy the UK had when in EU.

I got mine last week, inside it's nice, but the cover is so thin and flimsy, the cover doesn't even close properly or stay straight, not the best quality...
I have notice that too but on the bright side, according to reports. The new UK passport will be one of the most technically advanced anywhere in the world. Hello everyone , I have pre Brexit burgundy colour passport which is still valid and few pages left for stumping at foreign border, do i must change it to Boris BLUOO colour, and will boris change it for free if i must have to change the colour before expires ? Please answer if any one know
It's valid until expiry date, there's no need to renew it until then 👍
Anyone thinks that's blue is colour blind. Ordered mine [renewal] about a week ago through the Post Office. Couldn't do it online because don't have anyone to countersign. Old one still in perfect condition but expired too long ago sp needed a countersignatory. But, if it's not damaged or lost you can send it through post office without a referee. Cost £85 and £6 for next day delivery. They sent a text telling me when l should receive it.

My old passport? It's a bit of a rebel - refused to conform to the corner cutting trend.

Navy blue. I still have 3 years left on my passport so have to continue with the burgundy until I renew. Looking forward to having a blue one though.
Most people think this.You don’t have to continue. You can renew anytime I’ve got 7 years left on mine am getting a blue one next week.You don’t have to wait till it expires you can do a RENEWAL anytime regardless of how much validity is remaining.

You can renew anytime you like, though it's not something I'd cough up 80 quid for just for the sake of it. The new blue passport is dreadfully made, unlike the burgundy ones

@@MAKPRESENTS I prefer the new Blue passport. Looks more regal, the gold text and graphic go well with the deep blue. I think it looked odd with burgundy.
The old blue passport was almost like a very hard card material, not plastic.

With the Australian passport you get a plastic pouch to keep your passport clean when not using it, I'm surprised the British passport doesn't come with a pouch.
As long as it is a valid passport the plastic pouch isn't a privilege

Can anyone tell why our coloured photo in the passport is much darker than orignal. I m very upset and disappointed.
With biometric-enabled passports, the color in the visible image isn't as crucial anymore for the border guard to confirm it's really you in the picture. Hope that helps.

@@MAKPRESENTS That's the point. I have one too. In normal light it looks black. Under a bright light you can see the slight blue tinge. In your film it's clearly under a bright light and gives the impression of looking bluer than it normally does.
Thanks for this highly informative video that shows people how to flick through a new passport after first opening its envelope, although I see this has been called "unboxing". Wonderful! Mine came yesterday... after 15 years of nagging etc because my old one ran out and I had to rely on a card to travel by plane.
And in my opinion, it's black (and also my first adult passport which is true because I was a teen when I last used my old one).
Should be signed above the line but.... don't think this should be a problem if you accidentally signed below, long as your signature is there and clear to see i wouldn't worry about it too much. By all means you may call the passport office for your peace of mind if you are concerned. Take care

There’s only one place that you can sign it, the page that says “signature” with a line🤣You sign it on the same page like you have done for years, top page left hand side above the photo on the bottom bio page.

Just received mine after 7 weeks of delay by their courier TNT but that's another issue. I have to say I was quite disappointed with the new passport, the cover pages are so flimsy and thin, unlike the previous EU one. Definitely feels like a few corners were cut with this new version. If you are a frequent flyer this won't hold up for 10 years, so I would recommed a passport cover or wallet.
I guess it's back to using my Mexican one then
5:22: “Ríocht Aontaithe na Breataine Móire agus Thuaisceart Éireann” is how UK name in Irish should read. That is with a lower case “n” in “na” (meaning ‘of’ in Irish) and a lower case “a” in “agus” (meaning ‘and’ in Irish). No one would write “United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland”. It would look a little absurd. That’s equally true in Irish. It is also inconsistent with how the UK name is given in the other languages. The mistake surprises me.

Your 2nd point (lack of consistency with how it's written in other languages) is stronger than your 1st point (upper-casing of "of" and "and"), because the name here is written as a title/sign rather than being of a longer sentence. There are lots of signs or headlines etc that upper-case words such as "and" etc, even if that might seem grammatically questionable. Agree that the lack of consistency is pretty shocking, considering the heft and importance of a passport.
@@juncrow2007 Can you identify any passport in the world that has “and” or “of” in a title but upper-cases? I tried images of USA, Antigua, Trinidad and St. Kitts passports but nada.

Under bright sunlight, it shows dark blue. Normal light is look like black colour.
Ultra Violet. Light bring up the security features.
And it looks like navy blue.

Even though i was born in this country; very unfortunately….. I’m not even allowed to have a new passport.
i have issues with, the passport photo. So, i find it incredibly bizarre… that we have all different Nationality’s in this country; the U.K. 🇬🇧 and they are all, allowed to have a British passport; but i cannot get hold of one.

@@tormclean9657loads of drawing doesn't make any sense, stamp pages are for stamps, not drawing. man look at picture and personal info of the first page of the pink burgundy one, it was paper. With can be torn up easily by kids, new one is of solid plastic.
