There are a lot of reviews out there yet and most of the them are scorgin it with a 6....what do you think is the cause of that "bad" reviews? (most of them are telling that the narrative aspect is good enought but as a "game" it fails).....in other words, what do you think that could be the "key point" that are splitting the reviewers (and possibly the people) about this game? maybe the combat? the rythm? the difficulty?
P.S: I've purchased the game yesterday ,so i only question this for pure curiosity, i'm pretty sure that i'm going to enjoy it and your review only reinforces my toughts.

Im digging this game, i love deep stories and dialogue paced games.. i find it relaxing from all the shooters and fps games nowadays. i would turn off all the lights, grab a beer and enjoy the victorian atmosphere in this game..

@@jasondp3546 I just bought the game yesterday. I fell in love pretty quickly. The combat is alittle jumpy but it's not horrendous. Definitely a buy. And so far ive already though about restarting the game when I finish it. It has consequences in each situation so I bet there are different story lines.
This game is an hidden gem. If you like rpg with deep characters personality and a good story this is the game for you. Highly recommended.
I bought it yesterday and I can hardly put down the controller. Being a diehard RPG fan, this game is blowing me away with how deep & mesmerizing its characters actually are and how brilliant the story is. I found myself caring for every character and reading every collectibles and piece of information. A fantastic hidden gem that will be classic for sure.

i purchased the xbox game pass for pc and started playing this, the more time i play the more i love it! its so damn good that i actually feel bad for paying less than a dolar to play this magnificent game! triple A developers should pay attention and take note, huge worlds dont make an interesting enviroment, its the characters and how they relate to each other and how they impact the world and narrative, while also having these shades of gray for the player to decide, who is good who is bad, what would happen if i do this or that, it really is a hidden gem, if there is ever a sequel it will be absolutely legendary if they improve on things such as combat and exploration
FINALLY!!! Not only is it a vampire game but a great one, which is a rarity nowadays. I just hope Vampyr also sale well. We need more pro consumer, innovative games like this.

The problem wasn't that his face was textured.. it was that no one noticed or commented on it, immersion breaking. Even KOTOR 1 had responses to you looking like a dried up turd if you went dark side

I agree his reviews are great. I wouldn't say they are the ONLY good ones tho. Angry Joe does very honest unbiased reviews too and bashes the hell out of devs if something is shaddy or wrong. EA wouldn't even interview him for the longest time as he gives there games absolute hell like SWBF2 micro-transaction fiasco. I enjoy both reviewer's equally. But everyone is different I suppose.

mel b I agree about origins, Origins was a Fucking masterpiece in my eyes. However I only play like every 3 AC games. Buy one, wait 2 years then buy one. I LOVED black flag and then enjoyed unity, then didn't play until Origins. It felt somehow like a return to roots to me but also being so much more than any other AC could hope to be!!! Since it's using the same amazing engine and should have a crazy good story, I'll buy the next AC for sure. But the story in Origins, along with the combat and RPG side as well as easily one of the most beautifully realized world's EVER put in a game makes Origins one of the best games ever made in my eyes. The graphics on my One X and Samsung Q7F alone are worth paying$60 for!!! Calling it a wait for a sale was INSANE to me!!!

Z In Chains pretty sure it is. You play as a character, and you take on their role in the game world. You control a fictional character in an imaginary world (this is the definition you find when you google "rpg meaning"). Role playing game... unless these definitions changed, because its been like that since DragonQuest and FinalFantasy.

Finished it and loved it. I really liked that if you want to go for a 'good guy run', you REALLY have to work for it, at least with the default difficulty. The combat feels a bit 'floaty' to my taste, but I guess that's partly due to Jonathan zipping about as a shadow most of the time. Well worth checking out!

I LOVE zombies, but they've been pulled too far from their roots. Why are they punching bags? why aren't they actually scary anymore? I hate how zombies are used these days.

I’m happy to see a game like this that has a focus on story. I’ve always enjoyed a great story, and a lot of action rpgs seem to keep it to the side.
And any game that can be compared to dark souls is a game I will play.
DippersDoesGames its not comparable to anything in the souls series outside of aesthetics but gameplay no where close
What about level design? Interweaving paths and shortcuts and stuff? That was one of my favorite arts of dark souls.
Souls don't really have that deep of a story.
Matter of fact everything more told through settings then plot..
Just gives the illusion of a deep lore given how vague it is told.
But truthfully most players don't play soul for story or care much about it. They just like the sense of challenge

Respectfully, I'd have to disagree. I think games are starting to suffer from incredibly story driven campaigns or playthroughs. If you don't enjoy the story but like the world and exploration then one usually suffers over the other due to time constraints or budget issues. However, I do understand that people do like a good story in a video game(my wyfe being another one of those people) but I suppose how its told. You mention Dark Souls (my favorite game) and how it can be compared to this (i think that's what youre saying). It only puts it's story in your face for about 5 minutes. It establishes characters, their role in the world, and then free's you from a cell to explore said world. It almost never shoves anything else in your face. You find things out through exploring, reading item descriptions, and absorbing the atmosphere. THAT I feel is how games do a story right. I find the telltale games real boring because they feel like interactive scenes for movies, but I understand there is an audience for this. But, the point being, studios don't put emphasis on a story for an action RPG because theyre making just that; an action RPG. Not putting this comment in to say my opinion is better than yours or something stupid like that. I just like talking about games haha.

I love the music I've heard in it. Especially when you fight the werewolf in that one scene. It really brings the sadness feel right up to the top. I loved it, made me really feel immersed in the world...and I haven't even played it. Guess I'm nostalgic for blood rayne 2 on Xbox.

Agreed....although I've never played it...I watched my dad when I was 7 or 8....obviously my mum told me and my dad off, but when she wasn't their my dad showed me the game...
I remember him saying you can answer a questionairre to figure out what vampire u would be and I would've loved that....also the fact that u can drink everyone and u gotta stop drinking the blood if u want them alive and basically u can farm people...I remember one girl who let u do it....the quests are dark and interesting, I particularly remember one where this girl I think who chills in a hotel or brothel tried to convince you to get with her and help her fight whoever the fuck and my dad killed her instead and had a fight that lasted 5 seconds...He like had this vampire power that fucked her over
Not only that but I remember my dad staring at this random civilian and killing him and he told me that he has a power that kills people by looking at them...He said it explodes thier mind, dunno if that's true but I believe it
I also remember him fighting this stone thing, maybe a gargoyle in a church and he used his revolver which had blood bullets inside or something...again I was young but it was cool and I couldn't care if it wasn't a thing that u could do
But the one thing, well two things that scared me the most....one mission where u find bodies slaughtered and my dad had to uncover who was behind it....Then he found a body with it's head cut off and went into a sewer to find the culprit and that sewer man, holy crap it was terrifying and he found the thing after and killed it, I ran away tho so i do t really remember much
The other mission I remember was my dad having to sneak onto this boat to find this vampire or something who was kept in a coffin....And after getting past all the guards silently the coffin was open....And my dad shit himself it was awesome
I think he got the vampire with the black skinhead and nice looking attire which conveniently looked like him but man

When you talked about how the story was really well done because of not only telling you directly, but also indirectly really made me give The Secret World vibes.
Even if that game's clunky at times, I really love the atmosphere, the lore, the story, the world, etc.
It's good i don't really care about other opinions because what I think of things are different of course but I'm really enjoying this game.
So glad this game turn out to be amazing. It's time we get a vampiric theme game. This is a must buy for me.

Started to play it last night and I have to say I am not disappointed so far. Everything from its button placement to the gameplay, atmosphere and music feel just right. The emotional reactions from killing someone and the effects on the world is amazing.
That sword connecting with flesh sounds like my roommate eating a really juicy apple.
I've hesitated on this one but after watching a french reviewer who published this afternoon (yup I'm french so I wanted to support my french studios :p ), pre ordered it, then waited for your review just in case, now I can rest assured it's gonna be great, whatever mainstream VG medias say. Great review as usual, I love RPG's because of the stories they tell. I'm glad to hear the story is a strong point of this game. I also like that there's weight to your choices because often when games give you a choice these days the effects really aren't felt much. Combat definitely looks fun and interesting as well. I might purchase it once I have some more funds. I'm just wondering if there's a New Game Plus or something to add some even more replayability.
