Wow I paused the video at 18:35 to see what the plaque actually said. I ended up reading the whole wikipedia page on Robert Smalls. What an amazing dude. Literally commandeered the ship that confederates were forcing him to pilot as a slave and ended up freeing himself, his family, and all the other enslaved people on board, and them went on to have an illustrious career in the union navy and then as a politician. He’s the reason Lincoln decided to allow Black soldiers in the Union. He even went back to Charleston after the war and bought the house of his former slaver. There’s actually so much cool stuff about him I recommend everyone read the wikipedia page. It’s a crime that I wasn’t taught about him in school, especially when he was such a huge proponent of public education.

As a homeschooled, Christian, 1995 baby who loves sewing and traveling, I feel so seen by Micarah's videos.
I want you to know that your energy in this video calms my anxiety so much, I have listened to it while I am in the shower to bring me down from anxiety attacks. (Hot running water is something that helps me to calm down, hence being in the shower while listening.)
I know that this is a weird thing to say, but it's just my oddly long-winded way of saying thank you for helping me through many an anxious night.

Ive watched this video a few times because it’s entertaining and that specific part when she says it doesn’t matter if you embarrass yourself in front of people because you’ll never see them again has made it so much easier for me to not be mortified when I embarrass myself in public. I remember living in small town in GA..There was a family who had 3 kids all did home school ( lived on a corner House with a big yard in the front and back).. while my mom ( single parent )was at work.. and nothing else better to do.. I stumble across there house and noticed that the kids were playing in the yard..I said hello.. and they invited me in their house. The dad work the mom stayed at home.. she told me that it was better for her kids to learn it this way... I asked her what about the social environment??.. she told me that her daughter does ballet... and her son likes baseball.. so they get their environment of socially through that... I got so jealous because they had so much fun time doing that.. unfortunately when you're a single parent you get not do that.. but on a side note I remember having the wonderful adventures with my stepfather ,my mother, my brother and myself.. going from Georgia to all the way to North Carolina.. to be more pacific Bryson City North Carolina... and all the wonderful pit stops.. and also looking at the really awesome antique thrift stores.. I think everybody in America or even anybody around the world... need to just get an RV and just travel.. if I had the money I will be doing it right now
