- We've been dying to take Onni Cockatoo on a bike ride, but we haven't figured out a way to do so. Scotti ordered this bird carrier so that we could do so. I'm not sure how it's going to work out. We still haven't tried. But it was fun getting him used to it on this hike at Greenway Farms in TN.

I have an autistic son and I am not at all insulted about what you said or shared regarding both of your sons. Like your son Rebecca my son has continued to amaze me and has grown into a very high functioning adult. He has a job during this pandemic and he is considered essential personnel.

My husband was the same as a child non- verbal autism. . worked for circuit city when I met him was a dam good sales guy.
We have two wonderful girls, German Shepard, Pom chi, Goffin cockatoo, gold fish. He is a high introvert but he loves his gaming which I don’t mind he is a great provider. I say this because as a child his parents worried about him. We been married 14 yrs now!

That's a wonderful idea. Our Onni was *la la laing* 🎶. Keeping our boy safe is a priority. Rebecca, you and Scott go to the loveliest spots with our boy. I think as long as he knows his Dad and Mom are with him, our Onni boy is happy-go-lucky.

What a great idea for the hiking trip. Putting Onni in the pet backpack to keep him safe. Maybe having one of his toys in there would help him from chewing on something in there as well. I think Tennessee is such a beautiful place there. Oh yes, I agree with Rebecca, got to have a milk shake after that hike.

Onni is so good...my Umbrella Cockatoo would chew his way out of that backpack in no time...I've considered it at one time for a road trip but no!! I just have the XL travel cage for him...he is on the second cage..he chews on it, takes the screws off..chews the handles off!!!

The only real "normal" is on the dial of a washing machine. Love is the only thing that matters. Love will save us all.
We LOVE our Pak o Birds! You (and Onni) will, too, once you get used to it. It's perfect for outdoor activities and will keep him safe- hopefully you got the extra reinforcements for Umbrellas, but the company has excellent customer service and will make repairs if needed. :)

That's so funny. I have always thought Sean reminded me of my oldest son. My oldest son is HFA and now a functional adult as well. He wasn't totally nonverbal as a kid, but was VERY selective who he would talk to. It always makes me happy to see them blossoming into awesome adults.

Rebecca, you should take Onni to a petting zoo, or someplace that has chickens. That way, Onni can start clucking and confusing them. That would be hilarious, lol. All the chickens would be looking at Onni in astonishment, like "He's one of us!" Lol.

OH NO......"he is experimenting with the zipper.....". By the time you are done hiking Onni will have figured the zipper out and have it bent it to shreds!!!! By the way, you did an excellent job being a mom to that young man. No worries about Onni. You will have him under your thumb soon enough!

I love these! They are so well made and although they’re kind of expensive they are worse the price! I bought one for my cockatiel and he loves it! I’m in Arizona though and it’s already too hot to go hiking 😂
Very nice walk in those lovely woods. There were birds around. I definitely heard a cardinal. Some birdy looked very sleepy on his car carrier after. Guess that adventure in the fresh air wore him out. 😁💕

Do they make a version of that for Macaws with their long tails. LoL ! Rebecca you should check out the adventures of Roku channel with their free flighted Parrots in Australia. Their star Parrot is Pabu the Major Mitchell’s cockatoo and Kevin the Galah. They have regular parrot meetups and picnics. I think they’re in Melbourne Australia. Lots of Parrot owners in the land down under.
You gotta make a much bigger fuss to get a milkshake two days in a row. Turn the waterworks on. That works a lot of the time.
That backpack is such an amazing idea! Do they do any smaller ones for cockatiels? Or would you say that’s a good size for a cockatiel?
Yes they do!!!!! Go on and give it a look up. They are expensive though. Scott ordered it behind my back because I wouldve said no way. Lol. They are so worth it. A cockatiel would especially love it I think.

He wasn't. He didn't look stressed or pant. But once we got back in the car, he showed signs of being hot. So, I told Scott no more going in a back pack when its that hot.
