Homemade Chicharrones - 4K Video

  • Chicharrones are made of pigskin or sometimes pork belly. The pork belly has a lot more fat than the skin, so the chicharron tends to be a bit richer. Total cooking time and preparation time is between 2 hrs to 2 1/2 hrs.
    Ingredients
    7-10 Lbs Pig Fat, Pork Skin or Pork Belly
    1/3 Cup Apple Cider or Regular Vinegar
    1/2 Cup Water
    Salt to Taste
    I used approximately 7 lbs of pig fat, which gave me about five cups of chicharrones and three cups of lard.

      I use the chicharrones to make other recipes and the fat I bottle it up and use it to make refried beans, tamales, or other recipes.

    I was taught by the mother of a friend of mine who is Hispanic, to pour water on equal to the level of the pork. (This was after we had cleaned them with the vinegar/water mixture) then, just turn the heat level to high & bring them to a boil. Cook this way for just a few minutes, then turn the heat to medium low, and just let them cook in their own fat. The water will evaporate. Then we would salt them lightly when draining on paper towel. I love these things!

    Excited to try this out! But just opened up my packages of pork skin/fat and it’s almost all fat or skin with no meat 😩😢 Still gonna fry it all up. At least I’ll have some lard to use later.

    Looks there. That's how to do that. Then toss em into a corn tort and pour a little mild salsa on em, yum. Good with eggs & cheese too.

    What happened to your video with the chicharon y chili verde recipe. You used premade chicharon from the store. I cant find that recipe anywhere anymore. I made that recipe once but I can't find it now. It was so good, fast, and easy. Please share it

    Also just look or ask for pork belly, most stores no matter what ethnicity it caters to will carry it.
