    As always another stunning ride my friend, incredible scenery to say the least. You know I believe a whole segment could be made on just the weather aspect of motorcycle travels, the pitfalls of doing these travels, but if your going to do them you have to embrace the good with the bad, there is no other alternative, and rain suits, I feel the need to cuss them often, even just thinking about them, oh well it comes with the package, makes us really appreciate the days when the weather in great. Take care care my friend be safe out there. Me and my buddy shove off on our epic trip next week and where we’re going the weather will be our challenge as well, Alaska here we come. Take care, I’ll be watching your next video in my tent, Hang in there. Rob U.S.

    My late partner had taking our 7 metre housebus through Molesworth high on his bucket list. We did the journey in 2011...on one of the hottest days in some years. No trees for shade, and no aircon...so we drove with the windows open and just kept moving. There were a couple of fords....dry...but it looks like there's a couple of new bridges now. Apart from a large mob of sheep being mustered at the north end, we only encountered a handful of cattle. Some of the passes between valleys were steep enough for me to shift into the seldom used first gear. I made a wrong turn at the Hamner end , which required a nineteen point turn and the tail end of the bus hanging out over the edge. The drop down into Hamner Springs was awesome, and the town was packed solid. We were on a mission for a FruJu, and after three circuits and no parking, I stopped mid lane, deployed the hazard warning lights and ducked into the nearest shop to make the life saving purchase. I won't go on about the dust we collected...but it was 10 mm thick on the dash... and 13 years later I'm still finding the odd deposit. Thanks mate for the nostalgic trip...awesome video.

    Hi Joe a great episode, really enjoyed the video.
    I ride with Rohan Men's dry waterproof cargo trousers as my standard. They are excellent and very durable. They are waterproof to a point, just like you found yourself in. Then I put on proper waterproof trousers as the rain persits. Another advantage of Rohan is they are high wicking and dry quickly when the rain stops.

      Yes note to self, actually try on the wet weather pants next time don't rely on what is written as the sizes so I can actually move in them. Also try not to knock it out of gear when I drop it on a slop, lots of lessons learn in that one.

    Hi mate
    What are your thoughts on the Scram
    I’m looking at a 2022 model for sale over the weekend

    • @freewayproject
      @freewayproject  Před měsícem +1

      Hi mate, I am doing a review at the end of the series which sounds like it maybe to late, but the bikes are very similar, it just depends where you spend more time, on or off road. The Scram handles better on the rode through the tight twisty corners due to the smaller front wheel. The Himalayan is a little bit better off road with the 21 inch front wheel.
      If you have watch all the New Zealand so far the terrain I have gone over the Scram had no issue, even the steeper climbs in Episode 9. If you were going to spend more time on rockier steeper climbs then the Himalayan might be better, if steeper rocker and loser again then a dirt bike.
      I found the seat on the Scram more comfortable, the dash is easier to read on the Scram
      I hope that helps

  • @kiwibikerpaul141

    • @freewayproject
      @freewayproject  Před měsícem

      The scam has been great for this type of riding, if you were interested in riding more technical, steeper, harder, off-road than you’d probably look more towards the Himalayan, the scram handles better on road with the smaller front wheel, I have not ridden the new Himalayan, but from what I’ve heard it is an improvement in all the areas you’d want compared to the older Himalaya. I am going to do a review of the scram at the end of the series in a few weeks time, if that interests you
