- In this week's Gear or Gadget, we are bringing our experiences with different products to the table to do a hybrid-style product review. Today, we are coming to you from the 2022 Mobile Hunters Expo!
We will be determining whether we think this piece of hunting equipment is gear, and we would buy it again, or is it a gadget and money can be better spent somewhere else.
There are a couple of ground rules:

I bought a second, identical climber for a different property...it is that good of a product! czcams.com/users/postUgkxlQ7TDIrnnSXXbRgFFaxqwullRJJIuYAs I have had the first one for 10 years and only have had to replace the plastic chain covers when they wear out from climbing pine trees. I don't use the climbing harness and strap that comes with this product since I already have upgraded that for comfort. I do save it for a guest though. It works fine, but takes a lot of work to strap in compared to aftermarket harnesses. I will buy this climber again when my daughter is old enough to climb. It is a very safe product and well designed.
Call me after the season when all the platforms are bent and Ill say I told you so....

Stand and sticks were pretty slick. A little pricey. I definitely thinking about the sticks! Seemed like good guys, I sat with them at the film festival at the Mobile Hunters Expo.

Screw on bow hanger is the best and doesn’t hurt the tree. I come in and out with it every time. It doesn’t stay in the tree and I normally use the same hole if I go back to that tree and after one winter it heals over.
But you can't use it on public land in most places.
@@BradfordStokes it doesn’t hurt the trees. Those laws are only to protect the valuable hardwoods for logging
@@mjh1783 figures it’s about money. Here’s me thinking they care about the tree. But honestly I follow every law but that one. I’ve hunted public my whole life and screw my pack hook and bow hook. I could see if you was using screw in tree stand pegs all the way up now your asking for it. But two little holes in the top of a tree. Yep don’t care

It is expensive. But when you buy it once you have it for a long time. Just buy a couple good stand. Summit viper, one lone wolf sticks and stand. Don’t fall into the newest stand out. Use what you have already invested into and hunt. But you have to buy at least one good stand. And get Walmart camo to be honest. Just have to weigh out the expensive investments and figure out what you can go cheap with

Yea I’m a beast and lone wolf fan and honestly if I was going to spend the money I would probably get a lone wolf .75. I have the alpha and lone wolf sticks and it’s good enough for me.

If you screw anything into a tree it could open up a possibility for disease, fungus entry, insect entry, and even could possibly ruin the lumber. Even if you remove the device after screwing it in, it will still leave a wound on the tree.

The newest hang on stands are 200-300. Id rather pay for a $600 stand I can take anywhere and sit anywhere that weighs 1/3 of any other stand and is build with quality over these box store stands that has parts that squeak and move
That stand is designed for 5’6 westies. Never thought I would say this but just buy a saddle, $430 for that thing is absurd. That “revolutionary” seat ab killed me lmfao if you’re willing to spend $430 for a knock off just go to Beast Gear or LWCG (shit even XOP) lol

Last time I carried my bow in on a sling I walked up on a big buck bedded with a doe and had a 10 yard shot at him....... Moral of the story is I have bow in had walking in during day light

Lol....a 400$ hang on ! Wait what ? I wonder what percentage of hunters will buy a 400$ hangon...maybe they can get rich targeting that group, who knows...some will buy it just because it IS expensive ...i myself use cheap hangons i get at walmart...they work just fine....i keep a nice hang and hunt setup as well...but i have 10 cheap hangons i hang preseason that i shoot most of my deer out of. 400$ ? Not even if i could afford it.
I'm glad I purchased an Alpha 2 for $250 at Scheels about a year ago before they went up to $350! I have a XoP vanish evolution that is about the size of the Assault 2 platform and for the $200 I paid. It blows all these 500 dollar stands out of the water...if the XoP is too heavy for you, which it's not , it's light AF. Then you need to push ups & sit ups come deer season. These cast aluminum stands are so easy to hang. I also got Lone wolf climbing sticks for $200. They are nice but now your only option is the Novix ones now, and now they charge like $250 for the sticks. I picked up 3 beast mini sticks with the double steps and wow they are nice. I like to use a couple of lone wolf single steps at the bottom because theynare longer and more cumbersome. Then I'll bring beast minis up the tree with me towards the top so I have double a step to stand on while hanging the stand. Otherwise if you have one foot on one step and the other below it with the normal single step sticks. If anyone is reading this. I would get like 4 or 5 beast mini sticks and get the non -hole version and save some money. I think his Beast stand is pretty steep though. $650 for a stand is crazy high.. I got a lot of tree stand equipment for the price of 650. Alpha 2 =$250, XoP vanish evolution =$200, LW climbing sticks=$200. I got 2 cast aluminum stands and climbing sticks for the same price of one stand. My beast minis were and still are on sale for $70 a piece right now. The no-hole version.. those seem like a deal now compared to novix mini double steps for 4 for $250. Really like the beast sticks..when you are at the top of the tree, you can stand on the bottom edge of the double step and kind of slide your knees in front of the top double edge and it kind of locks you close the tree..I see why they designed them the way they did. Love them

430 for a stand and then if I heard him right another 100 per step for another 400 for a stand , you guys are pricing the regular Ole Joe out of the woods , and it's a fucking shame . Read a article about 20 yrs ago now in bowhunter magazine by the then editor thay within 10 yrs hunting wouldn't be allowed and he was blaming it on all the anti hunter green tree huggers , but it's gonna be the industry itself , the hunter /mfg that's gonna do it . Well the hunting industry is out of control, charging way way to much for equipment, think about this ,$2000 for a crossbow but i can buy one for $400 that will kill a deer also, dead is dead, you can build your own tree stand for just a fraction of the cost, they pricing themselves out of a market, just who is the hunting industry catering to cause it isnt the regular everyday hunter, hunting must be for the elite anymore just the ones that have their own tv shows which those are a joke, that does not even show the true reality of hunting, if you book a hunt, well your stands are already set, dont have to do your homework already done for you, these tv hunters are no better hunters than anyone else, the love of money is the root of all evil

That small stand is a GAME CHANGER for $419.00 to $459.99 you guys are getting ridiculously stupid,stupid with tree stands weighing in 5 pounds to 10 pounds, have fun sitting in that small 10 pound stand!
I will be set in bigger stand that weighing in at 20 to 25 pounds that I can enjoy hunting out of for hours on end and They are safe.
The design & weight of the stand is terrific, just not the price. If someone can make a light stand like that for under $350, they will sell thousands of them…mayb even in the millions. Manufacturers in the huntn industry charge wayyy to much for their products & are out of biz in a few yrs. Why not charge less & sell more & biz last longer!!??
