to be fair, the police in California did their job correctly this time. they got a stalking report, they investigate. when the report escalated into a attempted kidnap, they escalated the investigation. once they found it was a false report, they charge the one who falsely report the crime.
For all of those people complaining about there being too many surveillance cameras out there. This one just saved that couple from a very difficult situation & potential jail time.
I hope the Latino couple filed civil charges. That accusation, the publicity and the police contact had to be traumatic and undoubtedly damaged their reputation.
As someone who lives in Florida and is constantly around Latina/o people, if they were talking about you and didn’t want you to know, they’d be talking in Spanish. Immediate red flag for me.
