Stop-Motion Transformation of Black Mamba LS-03 Knight of Light. Fantastic upgrade on the venerable MPM-04 design by Hasbro/Takara. I had wanted to do a modern shoot of MPM-4 and this gave me an excuse to do so while also showing off the very clever upgrades that Black Mamba introduced into this oversized version. Mine had an assembly flaw. The hood rails that attach to the bottom of the windshield - mine had two left-hand pieces, so where the right one was the notch in it to tab it into the arms was on the wrong side. I carved out a notch for it so it would seat properly and notified ShowZ customer care. I will eventually get a replacement part, but in the meantime I was able to proceed with the shoot. Are you supposed to turn the tanks around on his shoulders? I think they look better as I left them. He also comes with other accessories: Two hooks, two guns, a large two-handed axe. The popped-out wheels on his thighs are separate parts. I remember once seeing BM or someone showing off a preliminary design that allowed the wheels themselves to expand and transform, but I guess they decided to go for the simpler option and just have replacement tires to swap out.

Production Note: The darned thing is so big and the halfway point is all stretched out so it was a bit of a challenge to fit it onto the turntable.

If you want to follow along, I recommend skipping to the speed run and using your , and . keyboard keys to advance by single frames. Every step of the transformation is documented in the frames of the video, in what I consider to be the best sequence. With minimal rubbing and minimal parts-parking.

It still blows me mind how far the ROTF Optimus’s foot transformation has gone with this version of the character. It’s like the gold standard of uniform design. The design and transformation here are masterful, especially the back and chest.
Totally agree. I think this is the most accurate live action optimus prime figure.
The transformation in the legs is never accurate. Apparently SS and the original two voyagers got it right

Every time I play with this mold I am impressed. I've had everything from the LT KO to the one showcased here. As complicated as it is, there isn't much like the feeling of clipping the last tabs into place as you TF back to alt mode. They SOMEHOW made the nightmare of parts we were given by Michael Bay into a working machine.
I like how the takara design (and this by extension) mimicked the drawing in of the front of the truck into the chest.
A pleasingly cohesive upgrade!

The design with the pop-out wheels was by Black Apple, another name for Wei Jiang. That design made it to the final figure, Thunder Leader
I looked it up. It's interesting but feels a bit overly elaborate.
@@peolesdru also doubled the price. but then BA's optimus has a fully transforming gun, but other than the complex waist wheel and the gun, pretty much 90% same as the rest of that line of rotf prime

Black Mamba can be a little iffy sometimes, but I can’t deny that they engineer some badass stuff. Awesome video as always, my dude! Hope you’re doing well.
I like their upgrades and improvements, but to be fair, Takara engineered 90% of this and did an amazing job.
Love how you had him flick out the swords at the end! Really cool detail. I've never owned this KO, since he's too big to scale with other stuff I own and I already have BA OP, but he does look nice in your video.
Not bad But I still prefer black apple one... this one has not transformable pistols and I prefer other things there. But nice version!

I'm not sure. There were lots of different upgrades done by various companies to the MPM-4 mold.
Yo dude, you forgot to rotate the little canisters on prime's shoulders. Doesn't make much of a difference, but it's worth pointing out.
I mentioned that in the description. I prefer them that way.

This just caught my eye for the price. I'm fond of the original MPM4 design.
@@peolesdru I think I couple things the BA prime does would be very impressive for what you like in transformations but now the price on it is too crazy. I got mine for $105 originally and it's one of my favorite bay figures ever.

Disagree completely. The original MPM from Hasbro was an unpainted toy compared to the KOs and this one might be the best of them all. If you see a good price, grab it.

My original MPM-4 had an assembly mistake that caused the hood to not sit flush and that always annoyed me.

This thing is really fucking confusing, this design has so many iterations and rehashes by like 5 different companies that it's painful, it doesn't help that two of them have stupidly similar names, or that Wei Jiang oversize KOs everything they get their hands on, I thought this was the black apple version that stopmotion wassim did ages ago, with the collapsing dually wheels and guns made of extra alt mode bulk from the smokestacks and gastanks
