My countryman, the Dutch guy, is an acclaimed martial artist of great skill, tenacity and flexibility.
Next to Guru ji, he looks like a child learning how to walk.
I say that with the utmost respect for The Flowing Dutchman, and his striving to learn the martial art of Bharat,
and in full understanding that Guru ji is a true master of Kalaripayattu.

Flexibility, Stability, Weight Transfer, Pressure Points, Healing, Muscle Conditioning. Combining all these into one single art form is not an easy task. It takes hundreds of years of evolution to reach optimal potential. Sadly we lost most of our historic relics during invasions and war. Kalari was always underrated. She's called the Mother of Martial Arts for a Reason. But the exact term should be Mother of all War Arts.

@@aniketsatpute2389 That has been bugging me for a while too. The logical reason I could think of was, Other Kingdoms might not have liked to learn an art form from foreign kingdoms and must have trained in their own way, which is our akhada training today. The mace training, wrestling, weight lifting... These were a different artform.
Also Kabaddi was created in southern part of India, present day Tamilnadu. The games of Kabaddi and Chess were invented by the rajgurus of Tamil kingdom for their princes to keep their body and mind healthy. Kabaddi was actually derieved from kai-pidi, which means holding hands...as our corner-defenders hold the in-defenders hand to maintain balance and speed.

@@aniketsatpute2389 Kalarippayattu travelled to China through a different route. Bodhidharma travelled from present day Mahabalipuram, and went via Myanmar and Thailand to China, ending up at the Shaolin temple. The North had its own martial art - Vajramushti.

@@aniketsatpute2389 Kalaripayattu is traditional martial art of Keralam. Exact place of Bodhidharma is not known. Chinese records only say he is a south Indian. Maybe he is from Keralam.
Also kingdoms of India were fighting each other. So Kalaripayattu didn't spread to other regions that much.
