man, you are so right about all the preparation it takes to go out camping with a tent. for just a over nighter, its a lot to load and unload... (maybe im just lazy lol). thank you for sharing your experiences and reviewing the super pacific, one nighter camping hassle is very relatable lol.
You know Tyler there were times I would just NOT go out because it seemed like too much of a hassle. I actually started doing local desert stuff just because I'd only be maybe 30 minutes from home. This thing has REALLY change the game up for me. For instance when I said I wans't really sure what I was going to do that was the absolute truth - even when I was on the mountain I was considering going home. Just I just kept going down new forest roads and finally just found that - what felt like an epic spot to me - place I camped.
@@dustyroaddestinations yeah, the story you told about driving around all night with your daughter, not being able to find a spot and having to sleep in the truck has been my biggest fear about trying to disperse camp with my little one lol. i wanna be as "in control" of the situation as i can be, have a destination in mind, drive straight there and hopefully set up!
Yeah, I think part of our problem is when did stop earlier - we'd find something early on the road but would keep going... Unless you know the area and I have an idea of options I think it's stressful if you push it too far. The ONE night I was able to sleep in Alabama Hills it was in the dark and at the end of the dirt road - it was not a great experience - although sleeping in the bed of the truck actually worked out okay on that trip... So just play to find a stopping point mid afternoon so you'll be all setup way before it gets too late!
Duane I really enjoyed this video. The audio in this video sounds really good. Enjoyed listening to you talking about running into that forest ranger again. Also good choice of drink around the campfire.

Yeah, that's probably a big catalyst for these adventures. I spent so much time just standing still and waiting for things to turn around and I want to maximize the time that I've got left. Honestly I was REALLY interested in those Bean teardrops - the room inside, the galley in the back, plus you can unhook it and go exploring without having to tear down camp! I think they are a pretty neat solution. Thanks for watching @langcamp3125 I really appreciate it - I kind of hope people will find it and a testament that you CAN get your life back after "the other topic".

Honestly I’m surprised I was surprised by that. I mean I could tell something wasn’t right but it just didn’t make sense. Plus I do not recall when it changed…. It like one day something was different and I didn’t understand why… glad I made you laugh though. 🙂
Invest in a 10/20lb tank and adapter for the buddy heater, you'll thank me when you realize how much you're paying for those little cylinders. I use the buddy heater as a backup where I live. I have both a 20lb and a 40lb tank. I tend to travel with the 20, but not the 40. They also make a little 10lb tank that is probably more than capable for your camping style and will save you tons of $$$.
I actually already have adapters and propane tanks - I just didn't bring them. TBH I not super comfortable with the buddy heater inside the tent/truck - they sometimes fail and that would be a bad day...

I'm thinking of going the diesel heater route - you put that outside and then vent the hot air into your space. Plus you don't get the condensation from the burning propane.
You are getting very good at using that drone. When you got to the trees, and you were driving and threading it through the trees .. while driving! Awesome. Should you have interviewed him? I know that uncomfortable feeling, asking someone to talk on cam. But never hurts to throw it out, and if it’s a no, it won’t be personal. Some folks are not good at being on cam. If he does talk maybe ask for the rest of us, “what kind of big No No’s do you see folks doing when camping out there. When I go fly fishing in mammoth I have slept in my truck bed at temps of -5, I bring my buddy Heater but am worried about being closed in my camper shell with very little venting. When I have done to warm up is a jackery and an electric blanket. Works great! Only issue is I think mine shuts off automatically, so I would wake up and it would be off and I’d be cold. So I would kick it back in and be warm again. I was putting it under me, thinking it would radiate heat up into my body, maybe over me would be better.

Thanks man I really appreciate you saying that BUUUUT I’m using the DJI Mini 4 Pro that has that follow me with 360 degree obstacle avoidance so I’m kind of cheating with it! Yeah I should’ve asked him. I’ve been thinking of the electric blanket idea so I might do that! I ended up using my Kodiak 20 degree sleeping back - I’ll get to really check that out this coming weekend. Thanks so much for the feedback, I’m starting to get way more comfortable with FCP! Funny story, I have furries for my lavs I just can’t FIND THEM!!! I have to go through another box! Thanks again for the support Steve I really appreciate it!

Wondering why you might have picked a rear hatch without a window?
Well the window is kind of small so you can't really see much of out the rear view mirror from it - I mean you can a little bit but if someone is right up on you or in a standard car it has to be WAY back to see it. Plus I change right there so if I was in a camp ground (which I normally don't do) then someone could look in so less privacy. IDK maybe if I bought another one I'd probably still get the window though... Thanks for watching LilFella67!
So have you solved the issue of being cold yet? I camped out a Jawbone last February, and it come close to hitting freezing. But with a liberal amount of blankets over my sleeping bags and extra layers, it was doable, but just barely. There is always something cold on your body. I am tempted to buy a portable generator just for an electric blanket.
Actually I have, I did the diesel heater thing and that works GREAT. My Jackery will run it and if I don’t crank it up full blast the diesel will last through the night. I’ve also had someone recommend an electric blanket with the Jackery (ac not dc) and I havne’t actually tried that yet but I think that will work out good too. If it does I will probably leave the diesel heater at home. Before going that route I a pretty good sleeping bag with a “booster” quilt and once I warm up it works pretty good. Do you have a solar generator, like a Jackery (or ecoflow, bluetti, etc?)?

I’m going to make the trip this Wednesday night and for the last 20 years I’ve always gone 14 to jawbone to kelso valley road but now this is closed I’m thinking about going all the way around.. do you know if I take Gold Canyon road that eventually connects to sc251 then jawbone canyons road.. is this the way you drove down in the video? I’m trying to get down pass the wind turbines down into kelso valley by airport.
That was the way I went! The road to the wind mills was a little rutted out BUT it was easy to get around. On the way back I just went straight down Jawbone Canyon Rd BUT that first little section where you start heading was really tore up. I almost said F'it and turned around and went back the SC251 to Gold Canyon way. It's going to take a while for them to fix that. Hope you have a great trip!
