- Came away from this ride wanting to try more gravel, hopefully the confidence will increase the more I do it - I 100% prefer uphill to yipeeeing down!
For anyone interested my bike (LB aka Little Beasty) is a Cannondale Topstone Carbon 2 - I chose this bike after being hit by a car earlier this year, she's the replacement for my original Canyon bike that was written off. I've been using her for road cycling (alongside canny) for longer rides with road tyres on as she's super comfy over long distance and most of the lanes I ride on are very bumpy! I’m defo going to use her for more gravel rides in the future, but the road is where I’m more confident!
Thank you so much for watching, if you can spare a second to hit subscribe with your pinky that would be awesome.

Always find myself chuckling along with your commentary. Like the way you manage to convey the sense of fun and adventure. Looking forward to next vid.
It's good to expand your adventures and go off road occasionally. Looks like you had fun but I know your heart is on the road (me, too!). Thanks for sharing!!
Brilliant adventure Gravel ride .. loads of fun and great company ..getting outdoors and having fun .. that’s what’s it’s all about .. giving it a go 👏👏👏👏🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🍎
Entertaining..and inspiring.. cheers Amy 😊.. great Vlog
Good on you Amy keeping an open mind and giving everything a go. I am a full on road rider but I do use a MTB for of road, it dials in your bike handling skills, get to see new sights and like you said no cars to worry about.
Looks so fun! Great video. I appreciate the vulnerability. Makes me want to go riding!
My bike at the moment is a Planet X Full Monty (with a few mods) and it is a bit of a mongrel, a Heinz 57 type of bike. I just ride on different surfaces as and when. I lived in Finland for 10 years where there were lots of fire roads and untarmaced roads but did mostly with mountain bikes with road tyres back in the day.
It's great to see you just enjoying cycling in all it's forms. Keep it up!!
Gravel. To each their own. Terrific young lady. Happy Forth of July. Watching the Tour. Great Britain Twins stealing the show. Bless.
great job as always amy❤
You're my favorite 'fraidy cat (but try to *trust* your excellent, modern tires). And it's good to see John again; I know it's an old video, but I missed it originally.
A lass of many cycling talents 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 and Kyle is worth spending on 👌🏻
Lovely video Amy endurance is your thing for sure so I think you would make a good gravel rider. Great energy lots of yippies which is top level stuff. So keep the smiles and miles coming and we'll keep watching your adventures over here the USA. TTFN back to you!
Thank you!! 🫶
Nice video Amy. You can't beat a bit of 'mixed surface' riding. Stay safe on the roads.
I can't help but get into a good mood after watching your videos Amy , so infectious..😄👌lol
Haha glad to bring you some happiness 🙌
I rode a few gravel trails in the Cotswolds this summer and the stinging nettle were ferocious.
👍 happy trails John
Thanks 4 sharing AMY
Brilliant again Amy 😊
Loved watching that as much as i did riding it - great job 😃
Ah thank you! ☺️🙌
You did good buddy love u . Im from mtb racing background so i done offroad and gravel years do mix of road and gravel now adays ..
Brilliant as usual and John so sweet! Hope hubby loves his shoes 😊😂
Thank you! Yes he loved them 🙌
With John 👍. Nice to see you do gravel riding. Hi from Canada.
Another fab video 😁😁
Keep these vids coming, you’re very entertaining
Thanks! I will do 🙌🙌
That John is pure class. Killer shoes, can't wait to see Kyle in them.
He is a gem! Absolutely love him - had the best time on the Giro trip with him there!
Nice one Amy. I have my topstone 3 and it's a classic. 😀👍🇮🇪
Nice!! They’re great!
Awesome Amy
Love a bit of gravel me, good to see you playing with the dark side. Do me a favour though please, put your garmin mount on the other side so the head unit sits central in front of your stem. It's doing my OCD head in, lol 😂
More John please. He is a “ classic “ always makes me laugh
Amy, que rutas más bonitas. Te pintas las uñas con colores muy alegres. Me encanta. Y tu entrada a los vídeos con el índice hacia arriba me llama la atención. Saludos desde España.
Hollybush!
Great pub.
Fare play to you in the mud and gravel! I’d of fallen off with hay fever poor vision issues.. 👍👍
Great video Amy. My husband told me about your channel, I’ve watched all of your vids in the past week! I have a new MTB and rode it for the 2nd time last night, I fell off as I’m not very skilled either. 😂 I blame the handle bars, they’re a lot wider which I didn’t take into consideration when passing a fence so clipped it. It was a soft landing though ha ha x
Ah thank you so much for watching really glad you like them but even happier to hear you love cycling too!! Ohh no, hope you were okay, haha I’m not the best off road!
Gravels just road riding with Little Rock’s. I love the gravel..
Cool video! It’s great that you’re trying out a variety of bicycling styles. Shredding the gnar on a mountain bike next? 😀👍
Haha thank you! I don’t think so, wayyy too scary for me!
Hi Amy, great vids, inspired me to get back on the saddle and was wondering if you could do a vid on the top bike accesories for the beginner...maybe get john involved.😀
Hiya thank you! Really glad to hear you’re getting back into cycling, ohh no problem I’ll add that to the to-do list ☺️ ahh I wish Jon lived closer he’s about a 3 hr drive from me he was just around for the race and gravel ride! But I’ll defo see him again so he’ll get his come back on the channel 😂
That's my kind of ride. Wooohooo
Hello Amy,
Well done to get out there on the gravel... sadly no dancing from John - lol...
Take care.
Paul,,
Thank you!! Haha a rare video without a dance!
It's very clear you dont like gravel rides🤣🤣. it's a cool experience sometimes you should try it occasionally with a group.
I missed John, what a fun guy always smiling and please pass my greetings to Kyle it's been a while.
Too cute! 😉 Awesome video! 🔥
Thanks!!
@@amy.cycling.adventures You’re welcome! Cheers from San Francisco, CA! ✌🏼🤙🏼
Great vid! If you do more gravel, have a think about a suspension stem (easy to pop on and off). Takes the edge of the vibration :)
Just buy a mountain bike
@@TarmaccyclocrossToo heavy unless you spend big bucks, plus the whole geometry and set up is so different. You wouldn't run a 42t chainring on a mountain bike for example.
@@Tarmaccyclocross Too slow. Plus Cost of mountain bike >>>>>>>>> stem duh!
Good stuff Amy, gravel not for me i'd rather get stuck into a pile o pots! 😁
@Amycyclingadventures -- Bought the same bike a couple of months ago and loving it. Just started to get into gravel riding. It's fun!!! As long as you don't run into muddy terrains, you'll be fine.
Ahh nice! I love it too 🙌🙌
'sweaty sweets' ooooh yum 😮😅
Oh yes! Peanut butter and porridge is the best. Do you pop some mixed berries in there as well Amy? I'm local, where were you riding? Couldn't work it out. 🚴
I've recently started adding cayanne pepper to porridge.
I recommend trying with frozen blueberries and/or cherries
1/4 tps of cayanne pepper
1/2 tps ginger power
1 tps ceylon cinnamon
Honey/sugar/agave/date syrup
Ohh it is! Sometimes I do ☺️ the route is on my Strava we went through Shipley park ☺️
@@amy.cycling.adventures Ah Shipley Park I was there a couple of weeks ago, crashed into a bridge...that hurt! Loads to explore through there. 👍🚴
@@FreshAyers oh no sorry to hear about the crash!
Was wondering, what's the point to have a gravel when it's lower than a road bike as the tyres and weight are concerned and not as efficient and confort as a mountain bike can be ? your videos are great, can't believe the amount of work it needs to build it. Just, as a french speaking english quite fluently, i'm sometimes not able to catch words, with speach speed and accent. Thnaks subtitles. :)
At 7:59, there are shoes behind you. What’s the brand of the yellow ones? I love that color!
Nice one 👍 are you tempted with some mountain biking..... get away from them pesky cars 🚗
Nooo too scared 😂😂
Tire pressure makes a HUGE difference.... small investment in digital gauge is worth it...cannot rely on a pinch test.
Was the great @Chris Hall there with you all just saw a zone lemon sticker on a bike in the shop
He wasn’t there :( but it was his bike!
could be just 80psi in the tires to help them seat, I overinflate them a little bit (not that much *don't exceed max tire press*)
I have a very gravel specific question Amy: how on earth do you get your ponytail between your helmet's shell and harness?? (Not asking for a friend 😂)
Haha there’s a gap where the tightening bit is, I put it on the loosest to make the gap big, put my ponytail through it and then tighten it ☺️
Just watching this at 11 in the pm 😂
😂😂
You will have to come down and do a ride with John in the Chilterns he can show you some great routes
That would be fab!
Interesting - how much turmeric do you put in your porridge?
Just a sprinkle ☺️
We did a brisk 43 miler today. I actually said "I'm feeling a bit Nick Nacked" 😅😅
😂😂 I love saying that lifts the spirits when you’re tired I think! Hope you enjoyed the ride
As if I haven't gotvenough cycling tops but boy am I in love with John's red top. Any idea what it's called. I guess it's from Santini?
I’ll ask Jon and get back to you ☺️
@@amy.cycling.adventures seriously thanks Amy really appreciate that thank you. I've hot sooooo many tops but that's a beauty ! U can never have enough ☺️
@@marktownend3782 this from Jon - It’s an old Eroica Nova jersey.
Not available anymore.
New Eroica collection though on SANTINI website
Shame it’s not available!
@@amy.cycling.adventures oooh what a pity. Saved me a few bob potentially though😊 but seriously that's very kind of you 2 take the time 2 ask John. And thanks 2 him as well. Are you doing a series of PBP videos ?
@@marktownend3782 no problem! Yes I’ll be documenting the trip 🙌🙌
Did you shot it with go pro on the chest strap?
Yes ☺️
How did the 35psi in the tires, handle on the pavement?
It was a little harder to ride but not too bad 🙌
Your like Mary Poppins on a bike... I mean that in the best possible way.
I always used mountain biking, not the g work either..lol
I used to race cross country mountain bikes and I love it but the gravel bikes, well my opinion is you can have them. The ride is to ruff hence the reason why shocks were invented. That kind of body pounding can't be good for your body especially if you do it for a long time.
We need a "bloomin 'eck" counter on screen
😂😂
Hi Amy, what glasses do you wear?
SunGod Airas ☺️ (I’m an ambassador for them)
Where is your accent from? I feel like I’ve never heard it but maybe I’m just dumb..
Derbyshire ☺️
A strap-on always makes riding more pleasurable
80psi off road bet that was a bone shaker ride 🤣
😂😂 luckily they let some air out before we set off road 😂
Nice ride, but porridge and peanut butter is just wrong! Sounds like something from your dad’s school of cycling haute cuisine. 😅
😂😂 it’s yummy!!
@@amy.cycling.adventures .... Protien needed and peanut butter is FAB, I love your videos and you are the cutest...little sparkle on 2 wheels... Keep up the Great riding... Amy...
Its all miles . Imagine being alive and a cyclist in the Medieval era. would of been 100% gravel all of the time lol. SPD pedals and shoes deff the way to go off road .
Very true!!
I/We need to help you find a higher degree of confidence in your tires, both on your gravel bike & (esp.) your road bike. Modern tires are _way grippier & more reliable_ than you think.
Секси)
Not a fan of of this type of riding I won’t use the bike manufacturers buzz G word to me it’s off road. It’s not my idea of fun plodding along on a loose surface. I did used to ride cyclocross but never trained off road for it fast road miles was the thing anyway thanks for the video 👍
that was nice to get him some shoes👍
He’s happy with them 🙌
