I laughed so hard the second time Mr. Brown hid and tasted the chowder again! đ Love you two. â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Mrs. Lori,
All this time, I just thought you homesteaded and did CZcams only!! To work in the school all day and come home, cook and care for the garden, đ and đ is amazing!! â€ïž that is dedication!!!
I love how you two are together!! Mr. Brown tasting âsecretlyâ tickled me. I love watching your videos!! God bless you both.
This Meal looks so delish!!! and the cornbread!! I always enjoy your videos! Godâs blessings to you. Stay cool!
In the 90s here but there is a pot of homemade chili on the stove and homemade cornbread in the oven. And the A/C is on! đ Blessings.
This looks so good! Itâs hot here in Ga. but Iâm going to make this tomorrow. A little bacon. Dr. Pepper and lard biscuits never hurt. My granny lived to almost 97 eating fat back and lard. She was never sick and passed away hoeing her garden.
That is a good way to go, if it is pretty quick.
My grandfather ate everything that's considered bad for you, but he led a very active life and spent his days working in the fields. He was 93 when he passed.
Oh, my goodness. It doesnât matter what youâre cookinâ up in the kitchen, it always looks delicious! Thank you. đ
True.
Rhonda Welker, I agree! I'd eat dinner with them any day, no matter what was on the table! LOL
Got dang I canât have none if that. 60 lbs. down on keto. Still gonna watch later mama Lori. Your a can do personâ€ïžđâïž
Lynn, great job! I think you could have the chowder if you left out the corn and used cream instead of half & half.
Iâm putting this on my meal plan for the week, it looks delicious Miss Lori! Iâm planning to use fat free half and half and skip the bacon grease. My doctor got onto me about my cholesterol. Drs. are no fun! lol
That chowder and hot water cornbread looks delicious. Nothing like meals made with home grown fresh vegetables. Mr. Brown is a funny fella. He always makes me chuckle.
It's because Mr Brown is a old school Trucker. You pick up a lot of different Lingo when you drive Big Truck long haul. He's right about most of the restaurants all around the nation uses too much salt in their food. That's not a good thing when lots of Truck Drivers eat at them restaurants. Them all you can eat Buffet's. It's probably better to go for the salad bar most of the time and eat a small amount from the hot food table. I ran 6 years 48 States and Canada it's as Great because of all of the different ways people cook and bake but you have to be careful. Alabama is a Great place to find them fried pies. Mmmm đ. There's a reason why long haul Truckers are FAT. Yeeeee haaĂ aw. I still drive Truck but I'm a local Milk Tanker Truck Driver. Hourly pay and overtime pay after 8 hours. And 2 days off per week. Life is good
The tradition for chowder in Maine is to cook cubes of salt pork until they are crispy and then drain them on a paper towel. Then you make your chowder in the salt pork Grease and use the pieces of crispy salt pork to top the chowder which almost everyone has stopped doing and I still have salt pork in my fridge! :-)
Thatâs how I do my chowder too (New Hampshire). My mother always did it that way and so do I.
What of cracklins ? I did some from brisket, froze them. Just wondered how to use. First time making from brisket.
That's how my mom taught me here in Maine too! Same with fish chowdah. Yum!
How are you both? It's refreshing to see you guys, it makes us feel normal.
Amen.
My nanny and my great grandmother used lard and cooked almost everything in bacon grease. They live to be 98 and 100. And my great-great-grandmother did the same and lived to be over 100.
I think there's a difference in a lifetime eating home grown bacon and a lifetime eating bacon from factory-farmed pork. I'd choose the home grown!
I love Bacon and I love Smoked Ham and Smoked Ham Hocks and Smoked Ham Shank, and Smoked Pork Chips, Yummy!!!!
I have seen videos of what they feed hogs and pigs..and farm fresh sounds good đ
â€
Hi Browns! I havenât even watched the video yet and here I am commenting! Lol
I just wanted to say - I wonder what I must look like with this goofy grin on my face that the two of you caused! You two are perfect together. I love it!

You & your husband are my favorite couple. The love& respect that you both have is amazing. Thank you both
Thank you so much đ
This was just delightful! Loved Mr. Brown sneaking a taste đ
Hello Lori & Dan Brown. Here in Rhode Island, we love our chowda and clam cakes. Stuffies are also good.. a stuffy is the meat of a quahog minced with other ingredients and then baked in the half shell of the quahog. In the Summer we spend time in Narragansett, RI. On Great Island. It's right on the ocean and so we have plenty of restaurants to enjoy seafood meals. What a pleasure to invite family and friends to celebrate the Summer weather, food and the beach!! Be well.
Just thought you might want to know not everyone knows what a quahog is just like not everyone knows what a geoduck is. Both are clams, with quahog on the east coast, and geoducks in the northwest.
@@tonibauer2405 Thanks for this info... I googled geoduck. Outstanding shell fish! Be well.
They live so long because they probably don't eat processed food that's how my mom was too.
Hello Joyce!how are you?
That's how my Grandma was big grandans in there years she did and my mom did it to . good eating.
Love your accent. I try to say some of your words and have to laugh! Love you two kids .
Something tells me your kitchen always smells delicious miss Lori because your always cooking something gooooood
Hi Mrs. Lori & Mr. Brown!! That chowdah and cornbread looks really yummy! I love it when you cook together! You are a great team!! Thanks for sharing! Blessings and hugs!!
I make broth using the skin and bones of a rotisserie chicken along with onions, celery and carrots and covered with water and cook in my crock pot about 24 hours. It is so good. đ
I do that in my instant pot pressure cooker, throw in a few chicken feet for collagen as well, and add a bit of apple cider vinegar to get the goodness from the bones. I love bone broth!
That meal looks delicious! Iâm with you Mr. Brown when it comes to crunchy bread!!! I will certainly try your hot water cornbread recipe! And Ms. Lori I cooked bbq pulled pork early this morning and canned 6 pints!!! Iâm new at pressure canning and Iâm proud of what Iâve got done this week. Looks like a real pantry!,!đâ€ïžđđ»God Bless.
I love watching y'all cook together. Mr Brown is very funny. God Bless
I am with you guys about soup. Today i made a curry butternut squash soup with coconut milk. The flavors were out of this world! I eat soup year round. I love the opening of your video when you guts "dance" in the kitchen. So cute! Love y'all.
Simple and Old ways make the best food thank you for sharing bless yâall
I love y'alls channel. It reminds me of when we would go to my grandma & grandpa's house when I was a kid growing up in Missouri. Grandpa worked in the mine & grandma drove a school bus for headstart. They still to this day have a garden every year.
I'm like yaw, I like soup, chowder and chili all year round. My husband doesn't however but it's like this.... it's good food and no one had to cook but me so eat, get your stomach full and be Blessed to have it.
Awesome recipes! Speaking about how Mr. Brownâs Grandparents lived to such a long life...I imagine it might have something to do with their cookware. Mr. Brown and Ms. Laurie, did those Grandparents use cast iron? I bet they didnât use a lot of aluminum pots and pans... Mr. Brown, you sure had me laughing today! â€ïž Thank yâall for another wonderful video. đđ ~Sharon
Yummy yummy boy that sure does look Delicious be blessed always đ„°đ€đ„°đ€đ„°đ€
I love how the two of you are so easy going and the food looks amazing.
Dear Miss Laurie and Mr. Brown it's me Old Ann. I wanted to say in your introduction, it just makes giggle so hard to see you youngsters dance!!. It just so funny. God Bless you kids. Keep on dancing it sure is just so lovely. I wish I could dance again but at 99 I don't move as fast as you youngsters do. I just had to tell you. God Bless be safe and keep dancing! đ”đ
The chowder sounds delicious and I love cornbread with soup. I love soup year around and sometimes, I have soup for breakfast.
I love soup anytime. So glad you put this recipe on with the garden giving us these wonderful veggies.
Looks so good,Husband said he'd try it. My Daddy was a farm boy and a cook in the Navy. He used to make what he called plain cornbread...he added hot water to plain cornmeal and fried it on a griddle...he loved that with fried fish and a cup of black coffee. Mr. Brown brings me sweet memories. Daddy was a good man,I know we'll sing sweet songs in heaven someday. God bless y'all ,too.
Wow mr. An mrs. Brown you'll make a great pair your chowder an hot water cornbread, I sure wish I could have been sitting at your table with you both God continue to bless you both
Fun facts: the stringy stuff on corn or corn silk is used for medicinal teas for certain illness and is a good source of fiber. Also turmeric needs to be mixed with pepper went eaten in order for your body to properly absorb and utilize all its healing propertyâs.
Soup is perfect on any day⊠especially those days when you need cheering up.
I love soup all year, but mostly in the summer. So comforting. I've never had hot water cornbread. I'll have to try it soon. I love the texture, and the sound of Mr. Brown's crunch!
I find almost all of the Southern cooking shows are changing up their cooking methods. Lowering fat, salt, less frying. I 100% agree with you, moderation! Beautiful chowder!
I've been wanting soup to eat for most of August, my husband thinks I'm crazy. But I also want ice cream when its cold outside so maybe I am a little weird lol.
Lol, Mr. Brown, your so cute, loved how he snuck a taste. You two are such a blessing. Good Bless you and yours always and forever.

The chowder looks so good! Ate cornbread everyday when I was growing up on the farm . Potatoes, pinto beans pork chops every day for supper. Didnât vary much except in summer when the garden came in⊠wonderful childhood. God bless you both! Love your videos.

Hello Tamara
Thank you
Mr. Brown you cracked me up. Thank you for sharing this glorious day with us đșđž †đ
Chowdda! One of my favorite dishes especially with corn!
I typically don't eat chowder, but this looks so good, I am going to try it. Cornbread too.
Good afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Brown, this brought back memories of how my mother and grandmother would fix their hot water cornbread . We would have it at least once every two weeks we will alternate cornbread with red beans and rice ,or hot water cornbread with red beans and rice. The only difference is that we didnât put oil in it we use eggs . My mother would wait a few minutes before adding the eggs to the mixture. Oh oh how about smothered turkey necks with collards greens and hot water corn bread.đ
Yâall r so charming. Love ur natural disposition!!,
Wow! I can almost smell it here in East Tennessee. I haven't had hot water cornbread in years I bet you I make some tomorrow night. I just found your channel and the first video I watched was you canning greens made about a year ago. I left you a good comment but also asked if I could can greens and season them with a bit of bacon or pork in 1/2 pint jars instead of pints? I am a senior living alone on my little farm and 1/2 pint would be a perfect accompaniment to any meal. If I'm having only greens and cornbread, I could eat the whole pint thank you so much for this video. I love you both. Stay safe and healthy out there.
@@tinaslouisianakitchen8963 Oh gosh!!!!! Sounds like you had a mess. Thanks for the great advice.
We're having chili and cornbread tonight in Hot Springs :) It's hot around here during the Summer, might as well eat what you want!
Your chowder looks delicious đ I'm a vegetarian and I'm using bacos and smoked paprika instead of bacon. My family loves soup year round. I also want to try Mr Browns corn bread recipe, thank you
Gotta love you some Mr. Brown. Ms. Lori you have the patience of a saint. I am married to a Mr. Stephen and he still makes me smile. Lord help us.

Mr. Brown is a loveable scamp! But then you know that Ms. Loriâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïžâŒïžthanks for cooking for us!! Sending lots of love and health to yaâllâ„ïžđđ„°đđ€Łđ€«âŒïž
I love a good corn chowder and have made some for the freezer with the fresh corn this summer. I love soup year around too. Iâm a widow so itâs great to just pull a container out of the freezer. Potatoes donât freezer that great so I just add them quick when I heat the soup up. I will have to try your recipe too. I didnât grow up with cornbread although my dad was a farmer in nw Ohio and raised a lot of corn. I like it very much and so did my husband so I did make it for him. I lov hush puppies too. I never go hungry when I come south đand itâs always wonderful food
What a delight! These recipes are just the sort I enjoy. You two are so fun to watch. Your affection for one another shows in how you treat each other. A fine example of a happy home. â€ïž
Awe Mr Brown just makes me smile â€ïž
SO GOOD TO SEEEEEE YOUâĄâĄâĄ
I just live it when you two make these videos together. That chowder and cornbread looks so delicious. Growing up as one of ten kids, we had cornbread and biscuits every day. I sure miss my Momma's cooking! Love and God bless!
We made this soup and cornbread last night and oh boy!!! The most delicious dinner weâve had in a while! Thank you for sharing your tips and secrets. I think you must be the best cook out there!
I love seeing you two cooking together, what a treat! I have a favorite wooden spoon that I use all the time too! Simple and real good old comfort foods. That chowder and water cornbread looked so good! Loved Mr. Brown's sneaky taste test! Blessings and hugs...
I like chowders, chili's and stew year around. Nutrition!
This chowder looks wonderful. My family asks for chili about twice during the summer usually when it is hotter than the hinges. I have just gotten so I put it on the menu about once a month or just a little bit further than that then I grabbed the little that might be left over and we have chili dogs and french fries the next night or some such. Really like the idea that hot water cornbread that might be a real winner with some in my house
My grandparents lived on a farm in Mountain View. I loved their farm. You both remind me of them and their " homestead". Tonight this is taking me down memory lane and I am 77 and missing the wonderful time I had there as a girl from Colorado. I am a Colorado girl. You are special people. Thank you. Funny how we are called to serve in gentle ways. You have blessed me tonight.
Love Mountain View
This all looks very delicious! Great afternoon of entertainment while I wait for my dehydrated peaches to finish. Love watching you two.
Mr. Brown peeking from behind the stove with his spoon..đ€Ł priceless! Looks so good
Thank you for the video. I have fried corn on my menu for next week. After watching you, now I'm craving fried corn cakes and bacon for breakfast!
I enjoyed this video. The last two or three, Mr. Brown seemed so tired or sad, it was good to see him back to his happy cheerful self.
No, hes not sad
Maybe tired though
I just found you and just finished making some Vegetable Beef Soup and home made angel biscuits with some peach jam I just made last week! I'm so full, I'm not sure I have room to watch your show! đ Maybe I'll go straight to desserts! Naw...just kidding. I always need an idea for zucchini!
What are Angle Biscuits? đ€
It sure looks good no matter what the weather. Love having both of you cooking together. Bless you both.
This looks delicious - can't wait to make them both!
Girl YES! I have all the ingredients. Thank you. YOU ROCK.
Thank you!
I love your videos. You two are just the cutest couple. You've inspired me to start canning and cooking with more organic and natural foods. I was wondering how you freeze your corn on the cob. I've tried it before but it didn't turn out that great. Thank you for making wholesome great videos!
I recently saw someone said they froze their corn in the husks and all. Pretty cool idea.
In the past I've removed the husks, blanched a few minutes before freezing. For storage now, I cut from the cob after blanching.
I was born and raised in Texas. My uncle who lived to be 93, when we would visit him, and he would start to make breakfast and he said do you want bacon and sausage or bacon and ham? But breakfast was his big meal of the day and he ate lighter for the rest of the day.
I vaguely remember her, I think the tv station came to her house as Dr Pepper gifted her Dr Pepper.
Miss Lori and Mr. Brown, ya'lls chowder looks SO good!!! Having Mr. Brown in your video today was SO fun!!!! We have missed seeing your videos, because ya'll have been busy!!! Thank you for sharing!!! Live ya'll!!!!!
My Great Aunt Bea just passed several months ago at the age of 101. What a life she led & the things she lived to see & experience. A wonderful lady, greatly loved & missed. She was born in 1919 (one of 13 children) during the flu pandemic & passed during another pandemic. We had a family reunion 100th birthday party for her in 2019; thankfully, prior to all this Covid mess. Most of her siblings lived into their 90's. We're all Southern folks; originally from Arkansas.
Blessed life!
Soo! Good! Please keep up the good work- I hope you never stop doing what youâre doing. Adore u both. Yes - itâs true I do love to hear your voices both. You both are very comforting. Thanks for taking your time - I know it is valuable. Rhonda Lampe
Thank you
Thanks for sharing this recipe Miss Lori. I think my husband and I would really like this chowder minus the zucchini since we don't like it. I got tickled at Mr. Brown sneaking bites of the chowder here and there. So funny! Mr. Brown's cornbread looked really good!! God Bless you both and have a great week!
It looks delicious. Mr. Brown is so funny. You make such a beautiful couple. Just love your channel. May God bless you and your family. Love your sister in Christ.

Yummy. Too cute, him sneaking a taste while you hold the camera.
I LOVE this video! Mr. Brown is so funny and Ms Lori, you're so sweet! When I was a kid, we'd have hot water cornbread and I just loved it! That chowda looks great too! Thank you both! Looking forward to making these, and to watching your next videos.
Ms Lori ⊠your cookbook is so lovely. Thank you. The recipes are easy to get together. Love this soup recipe!! Itâs corn and zucchini season even in Minnesota. And agreed, a bit of bacon canât hurt. â€ïžâ€ïž
