  • The world is in miserable state. Measing the goodness of a country is a riveting concept of finding back on track to a self sustaining planet. Simon is sharing a state of the good country party.
Simon Anholt helps national, regional and city governments to earn a better reputation-not by launching advertisement or PR campaigns, but by changing the way they behave. “The only remaining superpower is international public opinion,” says Simon Anholt, an independent policy advisor who has helped over 50 countries to engage more productively with the rest of the world. Simon Anholt has worked closely with heads of governments in countries ranging from the Netherlands to Botswana, from Jamaica to Malaysia. In his home country the United Kingdom, he is a member of the Foreign Office Public Diplomacy Board and he frequently collaborates with multilateral institutions like the United Nations.
As a researcher, Anholt creates international surveys that inform policy. His la- test project, The Good Country Index, is the first to measure exactly how much each country contributes to the planet and to humanity.

What he chooses to miss, is that psychopaths rise to the top of any hierarchy. As long as power concentrates at the top, nothing he wants can be implemented.

Well, goodness is always bottom up and never top down...it doesn't work if it's enforced. But a global goodness lobby might just be a formidable force. I doubt if it's the solution.

we all know that cooperation between countries is better than competition, but politicians are actors who need votes of an uneducated population (for the most part). 700 million people aren't gonna change anything if they don't hold any powerful position. You need people within the decision-making system for that. When are the Koch brothers or Dunlop going to join such a movement?

  • @ve5618

The big money employs politicians to pass laws to maintain status quo . Politicians hire police to enforce and gather revenue. The workers pay for infrastructure, all external costs and guarantee any loses thru income taxes. Sweet system.

Spirit still connects everything. The world is not a cause of anything because it is an effect. We are the cause. Spirit alone has the solution. Our circular reasoning will never find any answer

Collaboration lead to the world’s greatest authority on flight, Samuel Langly, to declare human flight was not possible only nine days before Orville and Wilbur Wright proved it was.
Collaboration breeds stagnation. Competition breeds excellence.
