If you discount Antarctica, North Korea is the ONLY area on the remaining 6 continents of the world that has the darkest section. What I mean by that is; that if you look from a satellite view of earth while focusing on ALL of the continents (except Antarctica) you will notice that the land mass surrounding North Korea is the most blacked out, darkest area of every region. This is because of their lack in electrical use within their land environment. North Korean citizens are treated more primitive than all of the Amazonian Indigenous Groups of the world combined. Amazonian Indigenous Groups, or tribes are allowed to hunt whatever game they wish, build housing structures of their choice and make a place in their tribes with whatever job skill of their choosing. North Koreans are given zero freedoms granted to basic human existence, they are force fed fable politics, education and basically told what they can or cannot "think, say, believe or do" in life. They do not have free will or free range of "basic human choices". Almost 90% of N Korea is made up of commoners. And those commoners are not allowed anesthesia during surgeries, and the surgeries are done with IVs of empty coca cola bottles and none sterol plastic tubing used as IV funnels. Over half of the children in N Korea are infected with diseases only prominent in rats because of all the children who are catching and eating rats for food. Many of the families live off of frozen potatoes that are harvested 6 or so months prior, and most families share ONE potato with the entire family as "one" day's food ration. They are literally given nothing to live for in that country & killed for even thinking that they're allowed to enjoy anything in life or be something other than a slave to their dictators. Dictators who are the "Webster's Dictionary" carbon cut copy of what defines "Communist Dictatorship". No countrymen in the world have it worse than North Koreans, even Salvadorians, Burundi's & most of impoverished African countries feel sorry for them.

the word has not yet been strictly censored or banned, but perhaps under a "soft censorship". Creators using that word in videos often get their videos demonitized, I would say that is a strong discouragement for them to use the word.

Not every city has great resources . I lived in Panhandle, FLORIDA. They are limited. Now maybe other cities in FL have better resources. People have to start learning to be independent and not rely on the government.

To even drive in N. Korea, you have to be able to fully take apart and reassemble your vehicle. It's one of the highest luxuries possible, and you can tell if it's a civilian or government car by the plates. They also _are_ forced to cry. Not showing enough emotion is punishable, even to death as you mentioned (sorta lol, yt guidelines and all). There is a good amount of footage from escapees you can watch where they describe even more horrors than mentioned here. Not for the faint of heart.

Hopefully some of the MIT, Penn State and Harvard students will enroll and finish their education in North Korea. With any luck, they’ll never come back to the USA.

I read a book about a young man that was born into one of the prison.Cahis mother was sentenced there when she was pregnant with him. Somebody finally when he was in his early 20s told him about what life was really like.There was another prisoner that had Found out what life was like in the rest of the world.. They escaped together.fortunately he made it to south korea but the adjustment was horrendous. I have heard that this is common to people that escape North Korea to South Korea.The adjustment is very difficult and even though it's a better life.There's so far behind.It's very hard to catch up with life in south korea

There are other video's interviewing defectors who now live in South Korea. Interestingly, many describe a sense of comaraderie, helpfulness and closeness in their North Korean community, compared to their new life in South Korea. South Korea is much colder in terms of how those from the North get treated and often no one accepts defectors as they find North Koreans odd. Ironcially, the defectors enjoyed life more in North Korea, in terms of their personal relationships. Everyone is in the same boat, so they are all supportive of one another. Also apparently in some small towns and rural areas, they can be left alone and aren't spied on as much, or even at all. As long as they can grow enough food, they are ok.

I saw this documentary about North Korea, on Prime a few years ago. There was no narration, only subtitles. It was a propaganda film where they would repeatedly rehearse a "family" member sitting down for dinner. The crew members kept looking at the camera making sure everything was in place. There was an elaborate amount of food. The dad tells his daughter to have as much meat as she wants because "there's plenty of food." 🙄Crew members or the director repeated the same scene until they got it right. Nexe scene is where they follow the young daughter to her school, she has the cutest warm winter jacket and clothes. Her classmates also have nice clothes and jackets. 🙄
Now, here comes the sad part, you hear the producer ask the young girl what memories she has the fondest of. She looks down and tears come down her face, and she says "I don't have any. "
