This video could save your Td5 Engine.
I'll get the Pump Oil Bolt and replace it with a new one with thread lock on it, before it comes loose!
It was a very struggle to me, firstly because I don't have a car lift, secondly it was my first attempt to speak in English, yes I'm Italian and I live in Italy.

Hi you going Segugioooo 👍👍😉,,,, I have a tiny question 🤦♂️ after I asked you about the Famous 10MM bolt anyhow I tried to start but because the weather he in Au was raining until today so now in my way changing my sump for my 2000 Disco2 Td5 I just two months from now bought it from old man he spills his Disco 😊 very much and he told me just sump I never have a time to change it ! So now I’m doing this work after sump out I I found a pieces of plastic so it’s mean the Camshaft timing chain components so need a replace the chain tensioner and guide it’s a big job now 😅 so you reckon I need to change the head gasket as well as I’m down there so all parts are out when change the chain tensioner and guide as kit , my engine done a 392000km until now ! Never had any problems from time I bought it just one click it starts like dream very soft engine with no problem, just recently I found the oil leaks from sump , because I think I need to undo the front bolts on the heads to let the chain cover off the engine so it will be loss right ?? What do you think my friend? Many thanks Matt 👋😎

Buongiorno ,sto facendo anch'io lil lavoro del bullone ingranaggio, ma arcipicchia quanto incasinato è togliere la coppa senza un ponte di sollevamento... il mio dubbio sono poi tornare a stringere i bulloni dei tubi anteriori.

Salve, la coppa volendo si può anche tenere senza sfilarla completamente, certo rimane tra i piedi però si dovrebbe poter accedere al famoso bullone. Il Discovery l'ho venduto 😔
@@SegugioGarage peccato tu l abbia venduto… la mia è ferma da 2 mesi in garage che sto rifacendo guarnizione di testa , albero a camme e bilanciere erano distrutti e poi altri lavori per sistemare mille perdite di olio. Le crociere le ho fatte grazie ai tuoi video, anche se tu le hai fatte sembrare facili. Grazie
I just bought a 2003 D2 TD5 today with 236k km and have found this issue as part of my pre-purchase research . Thank you SOOO MUCH for the great instructional video.. I am also DIY and this gives me confidence I can do this job myself. How many KM on your truck? Also being english speaker, I thought you did very well speaking english. Thanks again!

Si pensava solo €2 ma alcuni hanno trovato la vite "molle anche sugli €3... vallo a sapere! Io per scrupolo il lavoro l'ho fatto.😀

Se hai il cambio giu e l'auto sul ponte... la coppa la scendi giù con una mano sola!
Non avendo il defender non posso controllare se con l'auto in terra ce la fai, ma ragionevolmente direi di si, dai, al massimo alzi un pò i longheroni del telaio per far scendere il ponte e crearti spazio. Se ce l'ho fatta io sotto il discovery...
@@SegugioGarage Grazie, gentilissimo! Si, mi sa che ordino guarnizioni e vite e la faccio. Ho una euro3 del 2002, quindi in teoria la vite DOVREBBE avere già il frenafiletti, ma non voglio rischiare. Grazie per la condivisione!
@@GasGuzzlerV8 Io ho un td5 del 2002 e la vite era sì ben stretta ma senza frenafiletto. Probabilmente non si sarebbe svitata lo stesso, ma sai come sono i tarli che ti si mettono in testa 😁😁
Meglio non rischiare per così poco, visto il costo dei ricambi.

My Disco 2 Td5 is 17 years old and running very well - I bought it brand new in 2003, and for the last 4 or so years I have done all the servicing and checks/repairs (starter motor, fuel pump, fuel cooler, injector harness, EGR delete, etc.) myself - I don't trust dealers!. I was thinking of having a look at the "Million Dollar Bolt" when I do my next service, but do you think if nothing has happened in all this time then it should be okay, and no need to worry!?
Hi, I agree with you in trying to do everything by yourself, so you save money and avoid scams! Regarding to the "million dollar bolt" it reasonably should be okay after 17years, I was more curious than anxious. In my case it was tight but without threadlocker. I think it couldn't get loose
@@SegugioGarage Great video by the way! Very detailed! There's a little bit of oil leaking from the oil pan, so might change the gasket soon - for what it's worth then, I might change the bolt as well while I'm there!!!

Io già che mi ci trovo la guarnizione la cambio, per quello che costa alla fine originale land..metti che ti inizia a trafilare olio fra qualche mese ti metti a rismontarla di nuovo? 🤮

Ho preso il Discovery da circa un anno.. l'altro giorno vado per fare il cambio olio e trovo,anziché il classico tappo con la chiave da 17,un tappo con foro esagonale da 8... Vado per svitarlo e praticamente si rovina l'esagono... Ma mi sembrava troppo morbido... Prendo una calamita e mi accorgo che il tappo è di alluminio..... Credo che l'unica soluzione si trapanarlo e ripassare il filetto... Ma credo che per fare questa operazione sia il caso di smontare la coppa.... Tu che ne dici????
@@samuelepolzoni4628 bel casotto...ad averci un ponte si farebbe tranquillamente anche senza smontarla, da terra la vedo dura ma se hai un assetto e alzi bene l'auto potresti provarci, fermandoti se vedi che stai facendon un brutto lavoro.
Hai provato con la coppa calda dopo aver tenuto acceso un pò? (con attenzione ovvio).
Se fai un forellino col trapano al centro dell'esagono puoi provare a far scolare l'olio (altrimenti ti fai la doccia!) e magari diminusce la pressione sulle pareti di tappo di alluminio, implodendo.
Poi magari riprovi con la brugola (se non è ovviamente troppo mangiato, magari battendo un pò per ficcarci la chiave).
O al massimo, sempre se spunta fuori un pò di questa vitaccia andarci con la pinza a scatto? Ma penso che sia a filo, giusto?
In alternativa, sempre se c'è spazio piatto intorno all'esagono della vite...andarci con un punzone o scalpellino e martellando in senso antiorario provare a svitarlo?
Ti ho dato qualche spunto, può darsi che ci hai già pensato ovviamente.
Poi devi considerare anche che se riesci a ripassare il filetto ok, ma se non tiene tocca mettere un elicoidale allargando prima il foro. Fai comunque sempre in tempo a staccare la coppa e portarla a banco se le cose si mettono complicate. Ciao!
