"He was a deeply spiritual man," she said. "He was raised up in church, talked about how his grandma made him go to church and things like that, and he talked about religion-type stuff, spiritual stuff, all the time. His grandmother had to be something in his life . . . everything was his grandma. That’s what he talked about. And then, of course, he wrote that beautiful song, 'Grandma’s Hands.' The butter bean story is so funny because I remember my great aunt teaching me to work everyday after school. She also taught me how to read. This cover is exceptional, just like the women that are singing it. Much respect and love.
