Yikes, I'm American and got a 27. I do feel like a lot of these questions were more trivia than things most Americans should know
I am 3x your age and I agree with you, this is mostly all trivia. What Americans need to know is how our government works instead of thinking that the president is able to fix everything.

I didn't finish the quiz, but I wouldn't exactly say this was a history exam, which I expected. Does it really matter which soft drink was invented first???

29/40 and I consider myself pretty up on American popular culture. There were some really tough questions like the Dr. Pepper one.
Since Dr. Pepper is a combination of cola and root beer, I guessed Coke.
I thought coke was.
Histoty channel and "The foods that made America.' So I got that correct. But not having travelled much I didn't know where some things were.
Helps to be old and watch the History Channel

American, 36/40 correct ... good quiz. Having grown up in New York State, not far from Niagara Falls (note the spelling), most people consider that there are two falls, Canadian and American, where the American Falls consists of two separate sections, one of which is sometimes called Bridal Veil Falls.
Being from southern Ontario, there are three distinct water falls at Niagara Falls. The Bridal Veil falls are not attached to the American falls although both are located entirely in the USA.

@@scottcostello1786 Also Southern Ontario, close enough to NF that I used to visit frequently. I can see it both ways, actually. On the one hand, there are three distinct falls, as you say.
On the other hand, I've also always thought of it as @jimmeade2976 says -- the Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls, the latter of which is split in two. I guess it's because that and the Bridal Veil are so close together. As it happens, I think it was only a few weeks ago when someone referred to the three waterfalls there, and I went: "Oh, yeah, I guess there are three!" Which is obvious when you look at it, but I'd just never thought of them that way.
It's weird how perception and grouping can work. After all, we lump all three of them together as "Niagara Falls" depending on context, and nobody bats an eye.
Note for others following along: "Canadian Falls" is a bit of a misnomer, since that one's actually split between Canada and the US (the border runs down the middle). The American and Bridal Veil Falls are wholly in the US.

American -- 39/40, missed the one about the Vegas casinos. I know I wouldn't do as well on tests about other countries, so to all of you from outside the USA -- job well done, whatever the score.
That's the one that stumped me too.
I don't gamble and have never been to Las Vegas, so I couldn't care less which casino was first. I just knew Bugsy Siegel was involved with them.

I have, however, visited and travelled many times, and I do love the natural beauty of the west coast states...ocean, mountains, and desert. Fantastic.
Regarding the national anthem, when I was a senior in college I was watching a football game with a friend. When they sang the national anthem, he asked me about the opening line and what it was referring to. I was puzzled, as it seems rather straight forward. It was only after a follow up question that I realized he had, for the entirety of his nearly 22 years on earth, heard "dawns early light" as donserlie light. Understandably had no idea what that was, as it doesn't exist 😂

35/40. I’m American. Most of the questions I missed were sports-related because I really don’t care about sports.
39 correct and I'm British. However, I am absolutely passionate about everything American and have visited 38 of the 50 states, so I have amassed a huge trivia base.

Australian here - got 33/40. Missed Harvard, Uncle Sam, Cleopatra's Needle, first woman in space, Crater Lake, Yosemite rock formation and the Vegas casino.

38/40. I thought the Flamingo was the first casino in Vegas, but that's only from watching "Bugsy" many years ago. I knew Niagara Falls was at least two falls, wasn't sure if it was two or three. Now I know...
I live in the US and I knew I would miss a few of these questions but I didn't think I would get a 33. That kinda blew my mind.

American here and I scored 31 out of 40. The beginning questions were quite difficult for me as they were really obscure facts. I dominated the latter half with 24 of the last 26 questions correctly answered.

Obama changed the name to Denali, which was the original name before being re-named McKinley.
dr. pepper didn't have cocaine on it, so they can't be seen as "same". it was not, I believe a medicine before turning to be a beverage, so no way it could be "coke"
Dr. Pepper is a very cherry forward drink. It doesn't have much in common with root beer. I can see the cola aspect.
Denali is the name the indigenous people from Alaska have always called it. Just down the years they named it McKingley. But now it’s back to Denali.

Wow, the first time I got 100% on one of your quizzes. It helps I’m American and have been around for 60 years when history was taught well. Plus I’ve been to a number of the places in the quiz. Regrettably I wouldn’t do nearly as well with a British quiz😂

Actually, Dr. Pepper was named after the _father_ of Alderton’s love interest, in an attempt to get on Dr. Pepper’s good side in relation to letting Alderton date his daughter.
Not true. Wade Morrison allegedly (there’s no record of this) worked for Dr. Pepper before moving to Waco and buying a drug store that employed Alderton. And it is extremely doubtful, actually impossible, that Morrison ever had a thing for Dr. Pepper’s daughter, as she was only five years old when he moved away.
@@dulynoted8655 - Well the version I told was told to me in Dublin, TX at the last remaining Dr. Pepper bottling plant that uses the original recipe (or did as of years ago, I believe what they do has changed).
If you are going to argue about Dr Pepper, at least know it’s Dr Pepper and not Dr. Pepper. Originally it was Dr. Pepper but about 70 years ago the dropped the period (.). 🤣

@@joebartone606 This has nothing to do with the person living rent free in your head. Even his grandmother said he was born in Kenya. The hospital says he was born there. Some of the staff is still around for interviews. There is a marker on the hospital stating he was born there.

I’m an American, originally from Scotland. 35/40 -there were some great questions here.
Sadly I only got 24, primarily because I second guess myself on many and others I just have never learnt about. I am an American, but in the past few years been focused on learning other cultures. This semester I am taking a Caribbean class so if there had been some questions on it I probably would do better.

and to think you could have been a USA citizen by default if you did not want independence after WW2. Think about it, the Philippines could have been part of America. You would have to train to be a nurse in order to move to America or marry an old American man.
Well, it was fun. But way to easy. I didn't miss any and I am sure my to year old grandson could most if not all these correct as well. i sent him a link to the video and told him to let me know how he did.

37. America. Couldn’t recall where Crater Lake was, the whatsits trail (I guessed Smokey Mountains) and the park with the volcano. I *should* have known that one.
American and 37. Lived in many states and have been in each one except Alaska. Grand Canyon is my favorite National Park and I live 20 miles south of Smoky National Park. Hate living in the big city, I was born in the greater Los Angeles area, retired and living in a very rural town in North Carolina. Have also visited many countries around the world.
