I've discovered a whole new world of D-Star using the XRF reflector system. If you've been on the D-plus system but want more from your D-Star experience you have to give this a shot. Power sports net, RVer's and truckers net, technical nets, the D-Star Constellation and a D-Star to DMR bridge. A beginners guide to getting the most from D-Star. I'll show you how to use dstar xrf reflectors.

Good video. Love the 555 round table John Hayes told me about it when I was working on my hybrid Bridgecomm repeater/DSTAR. Got it working. It does analog and DSTAR. Thanks for the video hopefully we can use it to educate people locally. I mostly monitor the REF002C Nebraska.

First video of yours that I already know something about : ). As a Technician since June, I have been learning everything I can about HT's. I have an OpenSpot that I started using on D-STAR with my Kenwood. I'm interested in digital modes, so I get a DMR radio. The D-STAR Net on Thursday night is GREAT! The D-STAR net helped me get connected via DMR. Granted it was getting connected to the Constellation via DMR, but man...the folks are forthcoming with the knowledge, and happy to help. I can chat with ya on D-STAR XRF002A or DMR XLX313 TG 4001. Because of the folks on the Thursday Night D-STAR RounTable. Good to see you talking about it.
I'm also able to do it now with the RasPi and DVMEGA with PiStar image. With that, I have duel band. D-STAR on UHF, and DMR on VHF at the same time, and built in WiFi for mobile applications. Don't get me wrong, I love my OpenSpot, but I also now love my Pi...

Is it possible to use D-Star without a Radio? Is there software or an app that allows you to access D-Star systems without a radio, such as a reflector you can access without a radio?

K6UDA well yeah, but I just can't afford to buy a dstar or dmr radio and an open spot to use only at home. If one could run both 2m 70cm analog also then maybe I could justify it. Until I can afford it I'll just watch your videos and learn about the cool stuff.

All of these radios can be used on analog repeaters. Take a look at some of the DMR radios out there as well as maybe a used D-Star radio on the cheap. The Openspot can be setup to run wirelessly using your phone as a hotspot also. SharkRF is working on a built in wireless version of the Openspot.
