  • If you place a lay bet on an exchange you are hoping for a selection to lose. It's easier to pick something to lose than something to win so that explains why lay betting has become so popular.
    When you look at horse racing you have an average number of ten runners in a horse race. Excluding photo finishes, only one horse can win a race if you are placing an outright back bet or lay bet.
    Therefore, you will get a higher strike rate with a lay bet than you do a back bet.
    In this video, I create a simple piece of Betfair Automation on Bet Angel that will identify a horse within a race and lay it to a fixed liability.
    Laying a horse gives you a really good chance of winning and by laying to a fixed liability, you limited your exposure on that bet.
    With Bet Angel's automation tool, it's really easy to set up. Once you have done that you can apply it to a whole day of horse racing with just a couple of clicks each day.
    We create quite a simple lay betting bot in this example, but you can create some very complex automation using all the features in Bet Angel.

    i started off well on this bot. First 19 races were winners, then lost 3 out of 4 which freaked me out so i tightened up the margin - now btw 7.4 and 10. 42 out of 44 from the last 2 days. Thanks Pete

    Hi Peter, I’ve just set up the Lay betting Bot on Bet Angel to trade on the Betfair exchange. Using your automation I set every race yesterday in the UK and Irish markets. Only two losses. Very impressive I have to say. Once it’s set I can leave it to run for the day. As per your video liability at £10 which suits my budget. Just to say a huge thank you. Great video.

      Well done. Make sure you focus on finding value as that's the key to profiting in the long term. I've lined up some more videos on this for the future.

    Been doing the Lay the drifter and it is working very good but the liability is very big. Have tried this rule and as of now working good on US and later on Aus races. Hope it will be profitable in a week or month. Thanks peter.

    Hi Peter, I have been using a similar automation to the one in this video for a couple of weeks and have been making small but consistent profit. The problem i have is that the odd occasions the lay horse goes on to win it wipes out a large chunk of the profit i have made. I have tried setting up a close trade when the loss reaches a certain amount to try to minimize my losses but this deosnt always work and i end up losing the full stake. Is there any advice you can give to help me set up the automation to minimize my losses or is it simply a case of the price moving so quickly that the automation cant get out in time ?

    Hi Peter, just trying out BA prof on football, and want to just simply put lay bets at fixed prices at intervals but cant quite get it to work,I put keep unmatched bet rule.I am hesitant to press the trigger function because I did something and it just started placing loads of bets ..........is there any way BA could just check keep in BF when placing the bets ? I am manually checking the keep in BF and everything works

    how about a video on how the game “snakes & ladders” can improve your trading?, may take a few takes though.. think about it?

    Hi, very helpful! I manually select individual horses in each race, so this works well. However what if I want to lay several selections? Can I apply multiple rules or have several selections layed within one rule?

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  Před rokem

      On the Betfair version, you can apply up to five rules on a market. When you apply a market to Guardian, you can then select rules 1-5 to apply it to.

    Excellent peter really good to us all, well explained clear as day.
    Is there a condition that can be added to reduce the liability if the lay looks like its going to win

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, you can do pretty much anything you wish.
      Though be aware that in-play odds movement is fairly dramatic late on, so you need a structured approach to this sort of thing.

    Hi Peter,
    Great video but I have one question, if I wanted to add a “green up” condition after following the rest of the instructions what would the condition be?

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  Před 2 lety

      There is a green all command in the automation. If you are unsure of what to do, please contact support for further advice.

    Hi Peter!
    Great video!
    How would I do this:
    Lay a selection in running at 8.0 that had a SP of no higher than 3.0. Is that possible (automated)?
    Thanks

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  Před 3 lety

      Yes, there is an SP command so you can trigger against that or put it in a stored value. Then you can nominate a period after post time but in-play.
      There may already be some automation for this on the forum?

    Great video, you make things really easy to understand. One question I have is when you set the liability to only £10, did I see your stake was less than £2? If so how does it lay that stake? Cheers Chris

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  Před 3 lety +1

      That is correct, Bet Angel can do this. We used to use a little 'trick' but this now is allowed through the API under certain circumstances.

    Hi there, may i ask a few questions please. Does bet angel allow you to program a trigger for ladder scalping? ... that would be interesting as i dont fully understand scalping yet. Also does bet angel have the ability to load betfair data and play in demo bets mode like marketfeeder? Thanks very much, all the best

    • @DiyEcoProjects

      Ooo, just found your scalping explainer video ~ thank you appreciate it

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  Před 3 lety

      I see you found the scalping video! Historical data is a bit of deja vu when it comes to trading. I know people like it, but I've never constructed a strategy for just replaying old markets. This is more likely to be the case especially when scalping.

    I've read on the forum minimum stake allowed for SP lay bets is £10 liability. Is this the reason for using £10 here or can you use lower stakes?

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  Před 3 lety +1

      You can use lower stakes if you wish, but for SP there are limits yes. We are not using SP on this example though.

    Hey Peter, will this work on an Australian betfair account? In play is currently illegal in Australia. Someone mentioned to me that I can use a VPN when accessing betfair but what if I'm logging in using a bet angel software. Just want to know before I subscribe to the software.

    • @betangeltv

      Yes, we license Bet Angel by username so you can run as many version as you like on different machines, or multiple copies. You can merge automation as well if you like. It's up to you.

      That's my problem my computer slows significantly when using 2 or more versions of Betangel. So I'll have to buy more PC's to accommodate more bots.
      How do you merge automation?
