  • Flaking and peeling paint on a wall is often caused by dampness. This moisture gets between the paint layer and the wall surface underneath, and is often a problem in areas with high moisture - such as a bathroom. Dampseal helps to create a watertight barrier that the paint bonds to. Watch Dave as explains the quick and easy steps to achieve this solution with Plascon Dampseal.

You need to address the cause of damp, not try and steal it in the wall. That's going to damage the masonry over time.

Best result and long term permanent fix would have been applying a DPC or insulation the affected wall in the bathroom. Despite your fix, water will still be seeping through the bricks on the other side in the bathroom. Treat the real root or cause of the problem....

Problem I have with this is that once the wall has been scraped and damaged paint removed you are left with pock marked wall and neither the sealer or paint really covers the final wall in a smooth finish - it will always look patchy unless the areas where the damaged paint was can be screeded slightly then painted??
