The Chichibu Kawase Festival, held every year on July 19 and 20th, is the summer festival of the Chichibu Shrine and is also called "Gion" in Chichibu.
It is said to be a festival in contrast with Chichibu night festival in winter. It is a festival in the daytime for the night festival, and a festival in summer for adults for the winter. The main characters of the festival are the Kasaboko floats and stalls called "Hayashi-te" and the Hanagasa decorated "Hyoshigi". Children are also very cute in the festival.
On July 19, the eve of the festival, from the afternoon, 8 gorgeous kasaboko floats and floats are pulled around the city, echoing the Chichibu Yadaibayashi. In the evening, each Kasaboko and Yatai ends at Chichibu Shrine, where the "Tenno-hashitatari-shinji" welcomes Susanoo no Mikoto (Onomi Susa), who is enshrined in Hinomisaki no Miya ([[PDEFINE ~ AFFS _ FINISH]]) on the shrine grounds. Lanterns and lanterns that emerge in the precincts are very fantastic events. A fireworks display will also be held from 8 PM to decorate the summer night sky.
In the grand festival on the 20th, floats are pulled from the morning, and the Kasaboko floats and stalls that gather in the precincts of the Chichibu Shrine around noon depart for "Okawase" before the procession of the gods. Shortly after 2:30 PM, a "Mikoshi arai ceremony" is held in which a shrine portable shrine weighing about 400 kilograms enters the Arakawa river's clear stream. At night, the floats are pulled around the main street, and "passing" and "Hikiwakare" are the highlights.
