    I REALLY miss watching races there. I grew up just 3 miles from there. Used to cut threw the track and ride in the woods behind it.

    JM Bayle is absolute magic! Non one, not even Stewart, had the pure magic that Bayle possessed. Amazing! There just isn’t anything like a top level pro lapping a factory prepped 125....just standing trackside watching a really good rider do it correctly....nothing like it👍. Now days, a MX race sounds like all your neighbors decided to mow their lawns at the same time 😂

    The #1 battle of the history of the sport did not ever happen, and it is a shame.
    Jean Michael Bayle and Ron Lechien both having a great, world beating day.
    Man! We missed some great racing. :)

    Why none of the manufacturers picked up Ron Lechien after this series still confuses me to this day. He ran in the top five in nearly every moto on a non-factory bike and ran the pace of the front runners with ease.

    • @jeremyelford7926
      @jeremyelford7926 Před rokem +1

      I think mostly it was because the Ron Lechien talent came as a package deal with the Ron Lechien attitude...

      @stkyfngrszmooth Před rokem

      @@jeremyelford7926 Even so if he had a factory bike it would've been all but guaranteed that both Ronnie and whichever manufacturer who picked him up would be in the top five or likely better every weekend. That would've been great exposure for them and also help sell more bikes. We both know that a pretty large percentage of regular riders were also hardcore partiers who identified with Ronnie in that regard. Plus their money was still green and bottom line making money is what it's really about.

    I would like to see a test to see how much the quality of protection gear has improved since 1991, would be very interesting to see! A test of durability or something. :D

      91 being my peak year, and now getting back into riding again after 20 years off, I think the gear is pretty much the same. Boots have gotten more robust. I could not feel the shifter or brake with a modern pair, so I got a pair of TCX adventure boots, which are about what we used in 80's MX. Just trail riding now, but I bet I crash less when I can feel the controls. For safety, I don't have any problem going back to what we wore in the 90's, or even a bit earlier. I would love to have a new Bell Moto 4 helmet again. :)

      But there is one thing that sticks out to me about a modern helmet. I can't remember who the maker is, but the helmet has some twisting protection called MIPS. So when the helmet hits the ground, the twisting force will be reduced on the neck because the helmet soaks some of it up. But in the 80's, the helmets were round like, with no ridges like today, that will grab the ground and twist the neck. Personally, I bet the round/smooth helmet shell from the 80's,--works better for that application.

      Yep. But he should have stayed in the USA. Johnson and Stanton may not have liked him, but the rest of us were in awe in 90 and 91. He was his own man and great at it. He should have become an American IMO.

    • @SebTheFrenchGuy
      @SebTheFrenchGuy Před 9 měsíci

      @EarthSurferUSA JMB is a man of the South of France (it means a lot). He never liked living in the US. He did his job there and wanted to come back to France. Maybe he could have lived another life in the US, but it wasn't his goal. Now, after a great professional life in motorsports (moto GP, rallyecar, endurance, mountainbiking,....), he's working for Honda at a worldwide level. It's not that bad.

      Weegee says, "Wear your masks, get your shots, and the electric bike is the bike of the future!". Propaganda. Larry Meyers much better. At least he rode bikes and did not basically work for the freaks that run the world.
