I use hemostats to hold the fold, then after winding, remove them to lay across the winds and open jaws to accept the bitter end, pulling partway through, forming a little loop with a tail you can pull to release it.

The reverse fold is a great idea , I've been trying the double fold to centre and find it difficult to judge. Will try this out next band set I make .

I have a quick question what if the bands are thick
I do double 25-20 Theraband Gold with no problems....I would personally never shoot any elastic that strong anyway as I don't shoot large ammo.
