    Very, very good! I searched the same problem in a microwave oven after wachting this video. Thank you!

    This is the real Russian accent, not that one what most of the Holiwood actors or American stand-up comics do. Learn.

    Do you have to remove the magnetron from the microwave to test it? Or can you leave the magnetron in place but just remove the wire connectors and test it?

    Thanks tovarisch, mine checked out fine electrically, then I noticed the plug side magnet was cracked in two ! Bugger £70 then .
    I found the magnetron the HV diode and the resistor in the capacitor, but not the capacitor itself, had all failed.

    • @paulmonk7820
      @paulmonk7820 Před 3 lety

      @nigel mitchell If the (discharge)resistor inside the high voltage capacitor has failed, then the capacitor should be replaced. That is the only resistor in this circuit. Are you aware that the high voltage diode cannot be tested like a common diode? How did you determine that the magnetron was bad? It may have just been the white plastic connector housing the two pins, which can be replaced.

    I've just replaced a magnetron and they both measured exactly the same, zero conductivity between the terminals and case and basically zero ohms across the two terminals. So measuring low ohms across terminals and zero conductivity between terminals and case doesn't necessarily mean the magnetron is good.

      It could be intermittent antena or spiral as well and you still see conductivity but magnetron has fail anyway. In my case failure is obvious - burned capacitor.

      If you are using an analog ohmmeter, the reading between the two pins may look like a short. It should be between 1 and 4 ohms. This would be recognizable with a digital meter.

    my magentron passed all resistance tests . however the magentron was bad. the tip had turned from silver to a copper color. If the tip of the magentron has lost its silver color, it is only a matter a time before you will have a no heat condition. I replaced the magnetron with a new one, with a shiny silver tip, and i had hot food again. my microwave had been in service for 9 years when it failed, pretty good by todays standards. it is now back in operation.

    Hi, is it possible that by doing this test, everything is ok but the Megatrone still doesnt work (doesnt heat food). I have replaced my HV Diode, HV Capacitor and I have tested my HV Transformator. SO the only thing what I can replace is Magnetron which is (based on your tests) also ok... are there any additional tests or something like that? Thx

    So basically if the magnetron wire connectors have continuity to the box. It's bad? It's shorted out inside?
    I'm getting 24 ohms not 64. From the terminals to the box.

    • @MorozovAutomotive
      @MorozovAutomotive  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes -24 ohms is sign of failed terminal. "Healthy" magnetron must show Open Load.

      @@MorozovAutomotive Thanks for replying! Just ordered the new magnetron.

    • @paulmonk7820
      @paulmonk7820 Před 3 lety

      @@maces1405 The magnetron is not necessarily bad just because you got that reading between the pin and the case. If you got 1 to 4 ohm reading between the pins, that means the magnetron could possibly be ok. The reading you speak of indicates that there was a high voltage arc inside the plastic connector from that pin to the case. If you wish, you can get a new connector from Amazon.com and replace it.

    what does it mean if the plug is burned on the magnetron?

    • @paulmonk7820
      @paulmonk7820 Před 3 lety

      @Bill Whelan. If it is burned, there either is or was a short circuit arc from one of the pins to the case, which is grounded. The plug would have to be replaced. More testing is necessary to determine if the magnetron is ok. If you still get a reading of 1 to 4 ohms between the two pins, the magnetron is probably ok.

    idk who else is searching this nowadays, but I tested my magnetron between the terminals & casing and all good..yet there was an obvious blowout crack on the side of the plug
