    The Carolina guards had their way in this game, and with Duke generally sloppy with the ball ... this was UNC's game. Next week they are on a collision course to do it again on a court hundreds of miles north, so we may get to see the same matchup in a rubber match. It's now likely that Duke will go to the East Regional, while Carolina will be somewhere west of that -- much more to come in March Madness ... great stuff !

      The reason Duke lost was their inability to guard the middle ball screen action with the guards and BACOT,they ran that play the whole second half.its unbelievable coach k didn't get them to switch defenses to thwart the ball screens. If the starters can't do it bring in Bates Jones he is a high IQ player and a good defender. Also we are a very good zone defense team when they use it. It works so well cause the zone defense catches teams off guard because Coach K rarely ever play zone when he does though it throws the other team's offense for a loop and a lot of times they have a hard time adjusting I just think there should have been more coaching in the game John SCHEYER needs to step up and help out,if he truly is a x and o genius as his peers say he is

I just don't get it at times this year they've played easily like the best team in the country hands down when they're playing hard solid defense and everything is clicking it's just like they're not hungry though because there's too many young players on the team with the egos. Bates Jones needs more minutes because he is a high IQ basketball player and he plays really good defense and he gives good effort and that will rub off on the other guys also Joey Baker needs to get some playing time his defense has improved and he can hit the wide open three at a good clip

      So you think that it will be a national championship of them again in New Orleans? There is no way that both teams will make it to the final four let alone play each-other for the national championship. Dream on. Not gonna happen. Now it might happen in the ACC in Brooklyn though that’s more realistic.

    • @Gonzoweirdo1
      @Gonzoweirdo1 Před 2 lety

      That’s because you have so many teams in different regions. There is no way that North Carolina, and Duke can play each-other for the national championship. They are in different brackets in different regions playing different powerhouse teams in different venues in different brackets in different regions in other conferences of different seeds. I mean you have to play a number 16 seed if you are Duke for example in somewhere like Philadelphia or Indianapolis. You have to go up against teams like Gonzaga, Purdue, and Baylor. It’s just going to be very hard for both teams. I’m not saying it’s impossible but it’s not going to happen. The chances of Duke, and Carolina playing each-other for the national championship in New Orleans in April on Monday night is slim. Now could one of those teams make it? Possibly. It depends. The world of college basketball does not revolve around Duke, and Carolina. There are other teams in march madness, too. Notre Dame is probably in it, and definitely Wake Forest is in it, and so is Miami maybe. Now could North Carolina make it to the Sweet 16? Possibly yes they I think are that kind-of team I think they could even go farther maybe to the elite eight I don’t think that North Carolina will be in the final four but you never know. No two March madness regions are alike. They are played in different venues around America no two brackets are created equal. Just remember that UMBC Golden Retriever Dogs with Ryan Odom the coach game versus Virginia upset in Charlotte, North Carolina a few years ago that is a classic example of what can happen in March that really stands out even to this day.

      @Gonzoweirdo1 Před 2 lety +1

      @@rtee48 I think that there could be another UMBC type game with Virginia possibly in somewhere like Greenville, South Carolina that could easily go down in history it could happen you never know that’s why March madness is so great. It could happen in the Midwest region that could happen in Fort Worth, Texas. It could happen in Indianapolis, Indiana. It could happen anywhere it could happen in Buffalo, New York somebody that’s a number 16 seed could go down to a number one seed where the crowd screams in Pandemonium in an exciting celebration cheering in happiness it could happen easily in the first round again. Dude, anything is possible in March! Yes a team could win to a number 1 seed. They could easily turn it upside down. That could easily happen again this year. A basketball team could be favored number one going up against a number 16 it could easily happen again this year, yes. Number one seeds though are always supposed to win. If you take somebody like Duke who is the number one seed, and you put them up against a team like a Cinderella like Colgate, you know that Duke is favored to win the game. So it happens but not always but it’s happened before. In 2019 though it didn’t happen it could’ve happened. It involved Duke. Remember Tacko Fall that tall Center for UCF? That game involved Zion Williamson. Also, it could’ve happened with North Carolina in a 2007 regional In Winston-Salem, North Carolina when Tyler Hansbrough was playing for North Carolina in Roy Williams’ third year. If the Colonels, then a number 16 seed of Eastern Kentucky, who they were playing, had beaten North Carolina that would have been Historic also. My point is it happens. It’s happened before, and it almost has happened or teams have given number one seeds a run. Also, don’t ever forget the Georgetown final four, and you know which one I am talking about that happened in Lexington, Kentucky on Monday night for the national championship that was a long long time ago but we all know that Cinderella the greatest upset ever. Also, how about the same year of UMBC versus Virginia the same thing happened but different to Loyola-Chicago In The Dallas, Texas Regional. You might have a bracket filled out in a week from now but it could easily get busted just try to fill it out but be vigilant about it. March is so unpredictable. Nobody will ever know what happens. Another classic example is what happened in the I believe it was 2016 national championship North Carolina’s Marcus Paige made that shot, and everybody said North Carolina is going to win at all, and then Kris Jenkins of Villanova won it all at the buzzer as he answers back. Also, North Carolina in Memphis played Kentucky the very next year, and Luke may needed to win for North Carolina so he made the the buzzer beater it could’ve easily gone out it went in that sent North Carolina to Phoenix, Arizona for the final four. That year they won the national championship to Gonzaga in 2017 North Carolina won it was Roy Williams’ last championship. Also, in 2012, North Carolina was favored to go to the final four in New Orleans where they are holding it this year by the way, and in the Midwest region In St. Louis, Missouri, Kansas beat North Carolina to go to the final four. North Carolina put on a good performance that night they gave them a good show but unfortunately Kansas outplayed North Carolina in a heartbreaking loss. They outsmarted North Carolina that night. Of course we all know Christian Laettner against Kentucky I’m not saying that is the reason for March madness in itself but honestly it’s the greatest said to be the greatest final seconds of any March madness game ever. That same year what really hurt them was Kendall Marshall in the region in Greensboro, North Carolina busted his hand so he couldn’t play. You also are very aware what happened with Louisville’s Kevin Ware that same year I believe it was. Also, who would’ve ever thought that Virginia would have redemption after losing the very next year by winning it all with Tony Bennett after losing that iconic game of UMBC by winning it all. So, you just never know. But I love this time of year! 🏀

    Coach K made this game all about him and now he has to wear it rather than blame 18-year-olds whom he failed to prepare properly and who were left to scramble when K made poor tactical decisions down the stretch. K was from 1985 to 2006 easily the best coach in college basketball, making 11 final fours. But then he decided he was more interested in outcompeting Kentucky for one-and-dones than he was with sustaining his previous success -- perhaps it flattered his ego to consistently reel in top-3 recruiting classes, and he delivered for those players who used Duke as a one-year launch pad to the NBA.
    But that change costs the team and the program. Since 2011, Duke has made it to a final four only once; he only won two ACC regular season championships and his teams consistently placed lower in those standings that they were predicted to do pre-season. And it's not because the ACC got tougher with Big East teams coming in -- those Big East teams collectively have only one a single regular season ACC title. Virginia has won five regular season titles since 2014 because Tony Bennett has become the conference's best coach and by doing it the way K used to do it: improving players and teams over multiple years. UNC has won five regular season titles though only one since 2017. Miami and Florida State each won once.
    Duke still has a top-10 team with a chance to win a championship in March, though that goal was undermined when K ordered his players after this game to sit on the visitor's bench, humiliating them and blaming them for his shortcomings.

    Do you know what would be Armageddon? It will not happen but if Duke, and Carolina play for the national championship. March madness can go any way. Carolina could get knocked off to somebody like Mount St. Mary’s or the Belmont Bruins in round one easily that could easily happen or somebody like that I’m not sure who or Colgate that could easily happen easily. We have seen it before. Duke could easily get knocked off to a number 14 seed in the first round at somewhere like Greenville, South Carolina that could easily happen easily which would end Coach K’s coaching career right there. So my point is, never underestimate March madness anything could happen anything. March madness is a wild thing. You have to understand. You have to understand that March madness is a wild time of year.

      Number of years that Coach K coached at Duke where ONLY the ACC Tourney Champion got a bid to the NCAA Tournament? ZERO Number of years that Coach Smith only got an NCAA tournament bid if UNC won the ACC Tournament? TWELVE.
      Number of Years Coach K had to try and get a bid to the tournament with less than 48 bids given? ZERO Number of years Coach Smith had to get a bid with less than 48 bids given? Eighteen.
      Number of times Coach K went up against John Wooden (you know, the guy they named the Wooden Award after, the one that has won 12 Championships, more than any coach in history)? ZERO
      Number of times Coach Smith had to go the Final Four where John Wooden and UCLA eventually won? Four
      Total number of seasons coached by K? 42
      By Coach Smith 36 (many of them in an era when far fewer games were played per season)?
      By Coach Williams at both Kansas and UNC? 33
      And finally overall winning percentage for Coach K? .766
      Coach Williams? .774
      Coach Smith? .776
      Coach K has had an extraordinary career and has been extremely successful and I won't deny that. But whether to call him the greatest coach of all time or not is a matter of debate and opinion. Many would argue for Coach John Wooden, others might suggest Phog Allen, of course those of us who are UNC fans would argue in favor of Coach Smith, the people of Indiana could argue that it was Bobby Knight and finally Kentucky partisans would insist it is Adolph Rupp. That debate is endless.
      But calling him the greatest isn't what has me asking what the Hell some of y'all are smoking. It's claiming that A. that K played by the rules (OMG I can barely type that without falling out of my chair in fits of laughter) and B. saying what a class act he is. He might not be the slimeball that John Calipari is but the man is far from classy in the way he bullies officials, throws his players under the bus when they lose and teaches them to flop over on the ground when they haven't even been touched trying to draw fraudulent charging fouls.
      And whatever else you might try to claim about UNC or Kentucky or Kansas or any other team I've never seen a player blatantly STOMP on an player from an opposing team while they were lying on the ground like Christian Laettner did against Aminu Timberlake of UK in the 92 tournament. Yeah that's a class act of a program there buddy! And don't try to deny he did it because Laettner has gone on the record and admitted he purposely stomped on Timberlake's chest. He should have been ejected from the game for that shit and well then we probably wouldn't be talking about K winning 5 titles would we?
