Kenmore Washing Machine 79641383410 41383410 Stinks Smelling Bad Fix

We have been having a problem with our Kenmore Washing Machine (Model 79641383410 or 41383410) which is similar to many Kenmore and LG washing machines. Basically, it stinks. There is a rotten or moldy smell to the machine while it is running and afterwards. We religiously clean the filter and drain it. That part also stinks! Anyway, we began to notice some dirty standing water inside the door liner that was not draining down the hole. I did a search on CZcams and found this video ( • LG Kenmore Washer Door... ) showing how to replace that door liner. I really appreciated the video, but didn't really want to replace the liner. I just wanted to clean out the liner and more specifically the tube/pipe that goes from that hole in the liner into the machine. There is a tool that would have been super helpful to stretch a spring and help me reattach the liner. I did it with needle-nose pliers, but the tool would have made it easier. The other video talks about that tool. I also used The Drain Weasel Tool which I happen to have on hand. That was real useful so I didn't have to take apart too much of the pipe. I also think if I was doing this again, I would tie a little string onto the circle clamps I was removing so I didn't have to worry about dropping them into the machine. Make sure everything is secure when you are done or it will be a huge mess.

Would a Wet/dry shop vac work to remove the gunk out if someone doesn’t have that weasel tool? Next maybe clean out pump filter down below where all that gunk was heading.

We always clean the pump filter. You could try the wet/dry shop vac. I would love to hear if that works. I was thinking about a water pick to force the water through. Maybe a pipe cleaner. Not sure.
