That last thing that Jeramy said is something i have contemplated a lot when it comes to Trinnov. I wonder if there would be enough difference in sound between my SDP-55 and the Trinnov to justify the price. I'm all for buying it if it really bring me joy, but for that price. I need to know it brings me joy, so I have to hear it in my room first or i don't buy it.

@Erin and @Jaremy, I watch both your individual channels n to see both of you on this same channel is really cool. However, you both have me in a dilemma, @Erin u reviewed the focal 1000 in wall n found it to not perform well as say KEF inwalls, @Jaremy you have the focal 1000 and are able to produce great results in your home theatre. Can u both advise me on focal 1000 in wall vs kef ci5160 in walls?

im not either one of them, but I would say that sound is subjective. What Erin calculates in his tests isn't the same as someone sitting down, watching their favorite movie and deciding if they are comfortable with the sound.

      Trinnov is not
just about pure sound quality though. Factor in the updates that you don't have to pay for. Rather than upgrading to the latest processor every couple of years at 4k a pop...you soon have the cash to invest in the best sounding processor around!

There is this fascination in the audio realm that anything with an extremely high priced luxury price tag is inherently better than its downstream counterparts. I have never heard a Trinnov, but I know someone personally who has, and I have read several reviews of others who have owned one, and yet others who have tested the Trinnov extensively in their own home. Not once have I read a review of the Trinnov being head and shoulders above the likes of an Anthem AVM90, Marantz AV10, or even a Sony 7000ES. All of the reviewers/owners praise the customization, room setup, and tweakability, but everyone literally stops short of saying that all of this translates into better sound which leads me to believe that, when it comes to actual sound quality, diminished return is reached literally thousands of dollars below its retail price. Why Trinnov is actually brought up in any discussion is, to me, both perplexing and annoying.

You guys keep confusing the map with the territory. The representation on the computer is only a that a representation.

So the object placed in a virtual space in the Atmos Renderer is not supposed to sound as if it's coming from that direction at least? What are we talking about? I'm not even saying an object in the corner of the renderer should sound like it's in the corner because that's speaker placement dependent. But do you not agree it should sound like it's even at the correct azimuth? Please explain in more detail. Dolby is the one that claims you can "place objects precisely in space". They don't say, this general direction. I'm mostly holding them to the lower standard of accurate angular playback only. If that's true, and their renderer is based on either polar coordinates or Cartesian coordinates (that's not obvious to most users) then the playback should correspond to one of the two methods.

@@joentell The corners in the renderer are the speakers regardless of where you put the speaker. You can wire the output of the front left to the rear speaker and that is where the sound will come from. The renderer just gives you some visual reference nothing more. Maybe the designers of the renderer should have given you the option of setting the dimensions of the rectangle or made it a flat top pyramid which would look more like the Atmos layout.

@@alexortner2982 there are options in the Pro Tools Atmos implementation to choose the ceiling shape. I am not confused about speaker layout and object placement. I don't think Channa is either. In fact, we know the specific placement of objects that correspond with 100% activation of each speaker. I use various other software to "remap" the objects to corresponding placement based on the actual location of my speakers. Unless someone is running a Trinnov, they likely do not have that capability. You keep saying the 3D Object Panner is just a visual reference, as is the Dolby Atmos Renderer. What level of accuracy do you expect from them IF your speakers are placed in ideal positions based on Dolby's spec?

@@joentell According to your spacial tool download the graphic corresponds exactly as I would assume. When running the 9.1.4 call out on my 7.1.4 system the wides sound like they are approximately half way between the front and side speakers.
