Our missile defense is planes that shoot down missiles. Effective for the type of missiles of the past, but IDK if you heard about Hyper Sonic Missiles? They will be much harder to intercept with a plane since they will be at our doorstep in a fraction of the time a normal missile takes.

Building a national Iron Done for America would be about as easy as getting all of the beer out of Ireland. But over several absolutely key areas -- D.C., NORAD, San Diego (Pacific Fleet HQ), etc. -- could possibly be viable and certainly worthwhile if it can be done.
