Are you saying if you hang around with billionaires you'll become a billionaire ?
It's that easy, so all I have to do is find a billionaire.

People better than you also hang out with people better than them so they'll not hang out with you... Even the people they would like to hang out with also hang out with people better than them so they do not hang out with the people you would like to hang out with... And so on...
Don't you see the infinite contradiction here? This is what we call "nonsense" ! It's the candy to give to those who aren't in the circle so they cultivate faith toward you for something they imagine possible, but that is unreachable in reality.

These are very valuable rules for anybody who wants to get rich. Unfortunately, most people who will watch this video will not really be able to apply the principles. We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. No surprise that some people are losing a lot of money in the bear market, while others are making hundreds of thousands in profit. I just don't know how they do it. I have about $89k now to put in the market.

    • @Oly_laura

Understanding personal finances and investing will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend, and invest their money. I know someone who made over $350k in this recession influenced market, but to the best of my knowledge, it was through a financial advisor.

    • @martingiavarini
      @martingiavarini Před rokem +1

Yeah, financial advisors could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. I have been using an FA since 2019, and I return at least $21k ROI, and this does not include capital gain.

You either need to add a coordinating conjunction between the second to last clause and the last clause or use a period instead of a comma. Also, you could use a semicolon, but you already use one between the first clause and the second; it would be a little strange to see double semicolons in one sentence.
While I'm on the topic, why use a semicolon after the first clause? Using parataxis could be beneficial here to improve the rhythm and overall energy of your, instead, lackluster post. The semicolon you use here adds an unnecessary relationship to two ideas that already naturally connect.
An economic way of writing is very effective, but it needs to be executed perfectly. There is less to work with, in written discourse, so the mistakes become more blaring. These mistakes include punctuation, which I believe many overlook; you display this oversight in your comment.
I recommend purchasing a journal and practicing your writing skills. It'll do wonders for your communicative skills; I'm very serious. Also, reading will help sculpt a foundation for you to rely on. Hemingway would be a perfect addition to your journal writings.
Happy I could help! Good luck!

    Takeaways
    - Make a list of the people you dis/like and what it is you dis/like about them
    - "If you tell me who your heroes are, I can tell how you're going to turn out" - WB
    - "I've turned down business deals, because they were people I didn't want to work with" - WB
    - "As an act of leadership I created a sense of urgency" - BG
    - If you find your kid looking up inappropriate websites, you should talk to them about it, not try to block it out
    - The internet allows for easier offshoring, so education determines salaries more than region.

Fascinating how very different these two men are. Interesting to see Bill's interest in science, and Warren's disinterest. Bill's obvious inability to be excited about dairy Queen, and Warren's ability to see allocating capital to where it will generate profit as highly motivating.
Fascinating too how much of Mr Buffet's responding is via rules of thumb that have become intuitions for him: "The chains of habit are to light to be felt until they are too strong to be broken". How Mr Gates, by contrast accesses System II everytime. And expresses his thoughts explicitly as theory.
The two men are also similar. Both can think - very very well. Both have rich and deep general knowledge. Both work, hard, and love to work hard. And both are humble, and see all human beings as of equal merit. Be interesting now to enlarge the sample.
A fascinating study: We're lucky, now, to be able to learn without enrolling at Wash U. Thanks!

I noticed a contradiction in Buffet's message about success. On the one hand (6:45), he starts off saying that rationality is the key to it, on the other, he and Gates fall into the "enjoy what you do" cliche (12:43).
The problem is that rationality/reality does not care about what you enjoy or not. In Bill's and Warren's case, there is no such contradiction, since they both happen to enjoy productive and highly profitable trades. But what if what I enjoy is being part of a suicidal cult? or drinking seawater? Certainly, I would not last very long by making a habit of these destructive predilections.
On the bright side, I really liked the "success is getting what you want, happiness is wanting what you get" quote that Buffet drops between these two statements.

If you don't believe me, it doesn't really matter, because it doesn't affect me in any way. I'm not going to feel any more invalidated cause Paul throws his sacred statistics at me. People have been doing it since I was a child. The reason so many are failing right now in this country, is because everyone listened to statistics. Frankly, I don't know, and at this point don't care what your personal situation is. You say it doesn't matter, because they are statistics. Well, I'm sure you tell the same thing to every unemployed college grad you know.

"Derek", bucko, I don't give a shit about what does and doesn't affect you.
I'm here because it is fun disproving your unevidenced points with simple reported facts. You're basically the moron that thinks the world is still at the center of the solar system even when we throw Galileo's observations at him. You're a blind man. You only "see" what is around you without considering that what you "see" is not all there is.
You dislike statistics? People "have been doing them" since you were a child? Like those lame magic tricks at kids parties? And you hate them? You don't understand them? Statistics drives you mad? Well I'm not surprised, on account of your utter stupidity and inability to comprehend them.
Oh poor "Derek" doesn't get statistics! Doesn't know what it is, what it's for, what it describes, what patterns emerge in the data and how we express them! "Derek" wishes statistics was gone from this earth!
So, let's take a walk down that road, shall we?
      No like statistics, bucko?
      No problem!
"Derek" the king of ass that he is COMMANDS we do away with the branch of mathematics called Statistics! Will do!
Oh but now, reality comes down knocking on our door, bucky boy!
We have a problem now: This country's workforce behaves in a certain pattern. We want to see that pattern.
      What do we do, "Derek"?
Since we did away with statistics, surely you have a way to give us all a pattern or a truthful and evidenced description of what is happening in this country! Not just "Florida" bucko! Not just your local county in little Miami! ALL of the US's 50 states! We meed to know those trends because knowing is half the battle! We need to make the appropriate policies! Too many factories to be viable doesn't mean we get to make MORE factories in the same sector, for instance. It means the opposite!
So, "Derek", tell us! Tell us how to get real, relevant, verified data about all 50 states so that we know what political and socioeconomic moves to make for the future!!
Surely a self-asserted genius such as yourself will come up with something better than the data that the US Dept of labor relays to us!
      Do let us know!
      Curious minds are eager!

It completely demolishes anything you've said now, or before, when you express the fact that you have no idea how many states there are in the country that you supposedly know the modern statistics for. I could make an elaborate argument, but you invalidated yourself. Thanks I guess.

Once upon a time in Ancient Samaria, a man came upon a field full of two armies, facing each other, getting ready to go to war with one another. the man was a priest from distant land, visiting Samaria for pilgrimage at their famed temple of the god of virtue. Judging himself based on his original intention, to be a force for good, the man couldn't stop himself from intervening before it was too late. He approach the flag bearer of either side and inquired about the cause of war? Disagreement, he was told. Then he asked, which party is at fault in the disagreement, both blamed the other, then he asked of their underlying belief, backing their determination? We are the ones who were wronged so we have the right to wrong the other, likewise, even if it required killing and destruction, claimed both sides. The man thought over the lack of determined cause and there was the lack of evidence against one and the other, so basing his evaluation on what he was told, he deemed the war to be a suicide by both, and so he used his priestly power and invoked a divine clause, requiring the hostilities to be put on hold while the two sides engage in arbitration. The arbitration lasted for the rest of the day, and went no where, because both believed to have been wronged by the other, without being able to come up with any evidence or witnesses or conspirators and or captured spies to back their claims, and so both would blame one another, and the man discovered that it was the mere act of accusing the opponent of faults which would spike up the tensions and the subsequent exchange of harsh words would have both reaching for their weapons, instinctively...
the next day, both sides rejected the man's plea for another round of arbitration and instead, the war took place, people lost their lives. ...and ultimately, both sides agreed on a truce, without requiring any condition of implementation nor levying any consideration on the other.. they just wanted the violence to stop.
No one knows whether the priestly man sat through or even took part in the fighting himself, some people went after searching for him, but it turned out that he didn't visit the temple after all. in the later days, the locals would ask any trader or pilgrim who'd just arrived for visit to might have come across such a man with such descriptions? none claim to have seen or even heard of him... it was the ancient middle east, houses were made of mud, travel was on foot, life was harsh and so people just assumed that he must have been taken hostage by the desert raiders or could have died in the heat of the sun...
    the end.
