    I am so lucky to live in the UK next to a large wood, just moved, and thanks to you, I have just bought this, plus the DD 3x3 tarp. Gonna get my boys out into the woods and ready for the scouts - thank you so much for your time showing all this off - you have made me want to get back to the woods again :)

    For using the hammock without the bugnet: You can gather it like you showed in the video, but if you really dont want any net, you can also flip the whole thing upside down. The bugnet will then be underneath the hammock and completely out of the way. Almost as if you would completely unzip it from the entire hammock.

    Brilliant detailed review!
    I've just bought the dd front line MC (camo) and purchased there whoppee sling and tree straps on same order.
    I put the whoppee in as soon as it arrived, I agree with what you're saying here,so easy to adjust.

    I have DD's Frontline XL and love it. I use their Under quilt which is awesome. The net on the XL's Hooped with an internal ridgeline with a sliding pocket. It's also double skinned I use a pad or sometimes reflective material. MODS: I've removed the webbing and use as daisy chain great for trees that are further apart. Also use whoopie slings. I've added a length of Para Cord to the zips on one side very handy to open and close them.

    Great review. You did a great jod on this. My first hammock was the battlbox hammock. I still have it and still use it. But my go to hammock is my warbonnet. I love the double layer.
    DD may need a try. I bought their tarp when you did the tarp shelter series. Love the tarp.
    Keep up the great videos.

    DD superlight jungle hammock has everything need, copied from their site…. It also comes pre-fitted with our advanced Whoopie Suspension System - a lightweight, knot-free way to suspend and adjust the height of your hammock. Fully modular hammock camping system
    Both the mosquito net and the extra waterproof layer are detachable, making this our most customisable and versatile hammock model yet!
    I can’t wait to use it.

    Definitely like how it's open on both sides that's sweet would be more convenient..... As far as the bug net what I do is find some surrounding trees to be able to tie it up off of your face and then if you have to because there is no surrounding trees do Bushcraft find some saplings and make your own steaks high enough to keep it off of you.....

  • @jimf1964
    @jimf1964 Před 11 měsíci

    One important note is that it’s made to be able to set up on the ground as a mini pup tent or bivy in case there is no convenient set up available.
    I bought mine last year, because I snore and have been banished from the family tent 😢. ……😀. I love mine. I believe the webbing is just to keep the price down for people getting started, and DD actually sells a Whoopie sling, straps and carabiners, complete with instructional video for those who want to upgrade, which I just did 2 weeks ago, and will use on my camping t trip mid September. Looking forward to the trip, and being able to set up way faster.
    I got a question. My tarp has loops so that I can hang it without the ridge line rubbing on it, but then the line is outside the set up. Do you think running the trap on top of the line will wear it out quickly? I’d hate to have it develop leaks, but it’s a pain not having access to the line to hang things on

    @billwatson3527 Před 2 lety

    Definitely want to get rid of the suspension system that comes with the hammock or when it rains you will have two streams of water running into the hammock. Yes, I know about drip lines but a lot of people don't. That is what's nice about using the hooks or carabiners is they work as drip lines.

    Awesome video, step by step detailed set up AND how to upgrade to Whoopi slings.
    I'm sold too
    One question ? Are the bug net zippers YKK ? If not kow long a life would you guess they have ?
    I'm in Oz (Australia), so yes , bug net will get a workout for sure. I hope they are YKK 👍
    Cheers Mate

    • @Battlbox
      @Battlbox  Před 6 měsíci

      Thanks for watching! as for the DD frontline hammock's zipper; The hammock has a large military-grade YKK perimeter zipper (a total of four zipper pulls) that allows entry on either side of the hammock. The bug netting can be completely removed, but the dimensions are generous enough (it isn’t a fitted net like the Hennessy or Warbonnet models) so that the hammock can be turned upside down for net-less sleeping. The bug net can also be removed on one side to allow for quick exits, if necessary.

    They have another double layered one They Call It the travel that is because the bottom of the double layer is waterproof so you can use it as a bivvy😊

  • @RICHARDMOORE1959
    @RICHARDMOORE1959 Před 2 lety +2

    Great video. Question why not just wrap the whoopie around the tree and eliminate the strap?

    • @Battlbox
      @Battlbox  Před 2 lety +3

      You don’t wrap whoopie slings around trees. They are only so long and with larger trees it takes up too much of the whoopie and negates the adjustability. Whoppies are to connect to tree straps. They have a small loop on standing end to connect to straps via binders, clips or toggles. And wide straps are preferred for tree straps to protect the tree from being damaged 👍🏻. Great question

    Thanks for the great and detailed review! I just got one and I love it! The only thing that makes me crazy is the whoopie sling setup. It feels too tight to adjust, I may have done it wrong lol.

    When you thread your continuous loop through the bunched end, how do you ensure that it won't come undone after use, which would make you use a fishing tool to put it back into place. Is there a knot that should be used? Thanks.
