Well, it's your good old Psychonauts. I got exactly what I expected. I still think the first game is better. I liked the characters and the mind worlds in the previous game more. - Hry
When Lucky said "You can't kick me out, this is my casino" I wondered if real world Hollis got fired from her own hospital after messing with her academic advisor's mind
I think it's implied in game that Potts fired her when the hospital staff kept correctly crediting Hollis for her work, which is really fucked up. No wonder she tried to make him fess up. He was a douche.

@@billlupin8345 In the game they don't show that, the section is more about a mind without its body gaining back it's memories thru it's senses, so it avoids any actual symptoms, it's also the reason it reacts so wildly to the color green or many colors at once
I love how both the Goats and the Moth are controlled by their hosts, showing that sometimes that your worst enemy is yourself.

Every time I see the player serve the food to the judge in double down, the attack just feels amazing when you don’t just throw food at them, but along with the ENTIRE DISH.

Apparently Moths symbolize death and the afterlife. So the moth was trying to protect Bob from the memories of the deaths of people he loved both literal (his mom/Helmet) and Metaphorical (his brother's relationship). This game, man...

The lucktopus stands out to me compared to the other bosses in the game. It’s so bombastic and jazzy, granted the diebrarian is similar since that is a harder version of the lucktopus but I like the theming of the first boss way more.
Well she does represent gambling addiction.

It just feels good hearing Zim and Gir back in action and not in a way that would be some half-assed remake of my childhood.
What I love about the Maligula fight is that it's finished with the same power that Raz got from his father in the first game!
The end of the game paralleled the end of the first game with flea circus being a parallel to meat circus

In both games Raz receives a boost of Psychic power from another Psychic. But in Psychonauts, Raz is inside his own mind (it's mixed up with Oleander's, but it's still his mind), the power from his father allows him to re-exert some control over his own mind to make himself stronger to defeat the Two-Headed Dad Monster. Simularly, when Raz fights Maligula, Nona gives him some of her power over her own mind, so that he can help her seal away her worse self.

@@TheHysteriaMan Could be. Actually, I kinda like that idea. Lots of psychic families have unique abilities, or at least specialties - the Booles with animal telepathy, for one. Why not have the Aquatos (or at least Raz's paternal line, Lucrecia was still Augustus's aunt right?) with the ability to become psychic giants?

the panic attacks were so genious, when i first fought one it was extremely hard, having to get them to slow down then hit them while dodging their attacks was so cool, but when it got to fighting the two i just couldnt do it, i was getting extremely stressed and was missing all my shots to slow them down, it took me so many tries but as through the fight raz told psi king to calm down i tried being more calm to, it helped i was able to get closer to beating them just by being able to slow down and not get stressed, the game somehow made me go through the exact feelings as psi king and made the panic attack almost give me an actual panic attack, this game is amazing

She used mental connection on a doctor she was interning under after he stole credit for something she did. He went insane as a result and help had to be called in to sort out the mess.
All she wanted to do was for him to grow a conscience and confess he stole her work by making him feel guilt but it happened just like with Raz and the ideas avalanched on top of eachother in a chain reaction until it broke his psyche. Credit where credit's due, Raz was way more careful than her, otherwise she would've gone completely crazy too
@@thehermit8618 yeah, Raz only made one connection (risk=money) which, paired with her stress about the finnancial situation of the Motherlobe, caused it to snowball into an impulsive gambling addiction. With Dr. Puntz she altered about 4 or 5 connections at the same time, which overloaded the man's psyche.
I mean it's even justifiable, if you worked for hours on something jsut for someone the swoop in and take all the credit, you would probably go to high lengths to make your work pay off
That just makes what Raz did to fix his problem that he made more awesome! Glad he at least gains something from this experience.
If you look at the memory vault closely, you can see all she had to connect was Plagarism=bad. She wasn’t there to fix him but to hurt him

it was powerful
Maligula is easily the most fun boss in the game. She's a a challenge, unlike the Butcher from the last game, but she isn't frustrating. There's no one way to drain her health, and the player can use almost any tactic on her as long as they're careful. And if they're having trouble, they can take off a bit of her health by luring her over to Adam. And that fucking Goggalor beatdown at the end is just icing on the cake.
The final part reminds me of the giant Bowser fighting in one Mario and luigi rpg games

I wasn't paying much attention, but doesn't using Telekinesis to throw the Bad Idea mines at her does a lot of damage to her? When I did this it ended the phase before I even cleared the Bad Ideas out. Also that last bit reminded me of the time where Raz was using his father's mind to beat up the first game's final boss.
I like how the lady luckapus is a bunch of lights with a crown made of the bad idea lightbuds

For those of you who don't know what raz means when he said "it sounded so much cooler when Sasha said it", Sasha actually said "you are my own creation, I command you to stop" after he accidentally had raz make a super censor in the first game, during his level "Sasha's shooting gallery"
I thought Sasha said to never speak of that incident again.

U know, since Ford said maligula is a part of every mind, it is safe to say that she could be a regular enemy in the next game
Probably not, the only reason Maligula is so dangerous is because she was growing in power when she was dormant and because of the whole "Us Psychic 7 tried opening every door in our minds and that made us vulnerable" thing Ford was talking about during the Mailroom Mind level. That, fighting for her country, and in turn with the fact that she had killed her sister just completely made her bonkers. I'm still kinda confused how the whole primal "fight or flight," fear of water, and Astralathe work into all this, but I'm sure that didn't help. What I'm saying, is that our next villain is going to need to be *really* messed up to have something like this happen again.

If you tossed her out Lucy's skull, does she come back as normal or still evil, if she comes back at all? Things to look forward to in the DLC or the third game 🤷♂️

Yeah the Gameplay was more versatile in the first game but it still feels good in this one, fighting is more fun too

The Gluttonous Goats is one of the most bizarre video game bosses I’ve ever seen. They’re goat puppets, that fire vomit at you. Someone was really wired when they came up with that.

It's also voiced by the same person who voiced Gir in "Invader ZIM". Raz is voiced by the same guy who voiced said Irken invader and the two of them showing up in this game was intentional.

There's a lot of moments in this game that are really stomach churning. Loboto's mind, goats vomiting, the nose hairs in Psi King Sensorium, the germs in strike city, you talk to a sentient JAR OF URINE at one point. And let's not forget about the Meat Circus in the first game. It's practically a staple of the games at this point
God, the Gluttonous Goats are the worst. I can only imagine how many attempts that one must've taken.
For me, it just looks like it takes a really, really, REALLY long time...

Alright, I don't think the fight is that hard, because all it really requires is you to keep calm as you find ingredients. Yeah it's a little annoying to have to go plucking through the globs until you find one, but there's an upgrade to Telekinesis that'll make grabbing stuck objects much quicker. And yes, you can leave the mind at this point to go grinding for this upgrade, reentering Compton's mind will have you start the boss right away.
The gimmick of this level, and by extension this boss, is inciting stress. You're forced to play a time management game WHILE under the pressure of a time limit, WHILE dodging obstacles. There's a reason you get moments of respite between rounds. The levels of Psychonauts are people's minds, and as such, everything in the level,, from how it plays to what it looks like is linked back to the current state of the person you're in. In the case of Compton Boole, the element of stress is to represent his implied anxiety. He's a stuttering, nervous man, constantly on edge ever since the loss of his friend. So it only makes sense that the level is gonna reflect that. I feel like the majority of the level hinges off of whether or not you panic. In truth, the cooking part can be done at your own pace, you just miss out on collectibles you'll get anyways. So the game feigns pressure in order to make you feel stressed, which is exactly what Compton feels, as he's putting himself in so much stress when it's all I'm his head.
Likewise, the boss is the same case. I too had to rematch this boss A LOT(one admittedly because I accidentally exited the level) but after 4 or 5 times I realized why it was so difficult; I was panicking non stop. I was frantically grabbing ingredients left and right, reflexively chucking them away until I realized I threw the correct one away. When the goats started shooting streams of vomit, I scrambled all over the arena, trying to stay airborne to avoid getting damaged, and in the second and third phases, I did not know how to handle the appliances and jumped off the ledge trying to get away a bunch of times. After that though, I began to start plucking the ingredients more slowly, finding the right one and then MAKING SURE it was the right one before throwing it in. I realized that the goat vomit on the floor is much easier to deal with as using levitation will clean it up, giving myself more breathing room. And to make things easier, I realized that the garbage they puke out can be used as cover or platforms. The appliances weren't actually very hard to deal with at all, just had to watch what they were doing and where they were attacking instead of running around in circles. All these things that made the fight so difficult turned out to be my own fault. The boss WANTS you to panic, as panicking makes the fight more difficult than it needs to be, but once you take a moment to understand how to deal with various attacks, it boils down to just basic dodging. All this again reflects Compton's mental state. The answer is to simply calm down, and then go from there. It felt SO satisfying to breeze through the boss with ease and smash those plates against the goat's puppet faces, after I figured out how generally easy the fight was. And because of that, and how much I personally comment with these mental problems, it is my favorite fight in the game.
As for how gross it is, come on, it's Psychonauts. You go into these games expecting gross stuff
