The French also believed the Missouri was the main channel. Apparently, back in the day, if there was heavy snowfall in the west, it would swell in size but due to the arid nature of much of the country it flows through, its water levels then, and even now, are highly volatile.
I just moved to StL and needed this, thanks.
Thanks for the video… You just helped me a ton
Thank you for this!!!
Thanks for share. Look like this week and next week someday up to 70 degree which spots is better for catfish.
great video. I am STL and wondering for good spots. thanks
Fabulous information. It sounds like most of the river spots are not good in winter. Any tips specifically for the colder months?
Fish the deeper spots, trout ponds or go to Baldwin lake in illinois
I tried fishing out at Centaur Chute and didn’t have much luck with worms or catfish blood bait. The wind was bad and the water was choppy on one side but the other was calm and steep banks so I’m sure with the right conditions it would be a good spot!
It’s infested with gar during the summer. Fish below the dam with cut bait after a storm and water is pouring over the dam. Big cats there then.
a year late but fishing River Des Peres Channel at the casino is actually a very common thing very big cats that way.
Do you just park at the casino?
@@ancientfishing yes
The hell do you mean it doesn't get that cold here 😂
What is you top spot for the biggest catfish on this video near Kirkwood MO? Also what would you use? Thanks!
Downtown by the Arch is good but you have to have massive weights.
Never caught catfish in creve couer I know they had a major carp issue and cleaned it out
Missouri is one of the hardest places to find a good spot to bank fish even in conservation areas. No thanks to drunks leaving there beer cans and bottles laying around farmers don’t let people bank fish anymore as far the conservation areas they Cartier to the boats and with very little ramp access like pelican island they use to have a very nice boat ramp but they never clean it out so people can launch there boats in the river I guess they don’t realize Missouri taxpayers fund them or they just don’t give a rip
I’ve found several places. Gars are a big issue in summer though.
Thanks for the great advice . But ive been fishing cliff cave park for years . Ive walked & walked . Ive thrown every out there for bait nothing to show but a couple of dinks . Im throwing 3 oz & 4 oz weights . What am I doing wrong
You try fishing in front of the barges?
@@ancientfishing yes I have
@@jasonthomason8384 not sure then. Cat fishing is a lot about luck. I fished almost every day for a month just now around St. Louis and the only giant I got was a 34lb flathead at Busch 33. The big blues just weren’t biting.
@@ancientfishing . Well I think I'm done with Cliff cave last month when I went to cliff cave I got poison ivy every where . Question how much weight to throw at the eads bridge . Very nice on the 30 plus lber . I don't know if you no about kimmswick port . I really like this place . But thanks for all the info . SUBSCRIBED .
Have you been to Bluff City outdoors bait shop ?
No, I have not, I usually stay on the MO side of the river even though I do have an IL license.
do you have any videos on bonhomme creek?
No, I haven't caught too much in the creek outside of bluegills and chubs. The only real decent place on the creek is that place under the 64 bridge.
@@ancientfishing yeah i’m going to try to fish under the bridge sometime
Any tips for fishing catfish this time of year? Jan-feb
You have to get onto wing dikes and access the deep water off the ends.
Hey what's up I see you be fishing your butt off dude .I live on il&wi border, have a 16 ft deep v boat all legit, wondering if you'd like to hit the peck River or lake Wisconsin. I'm about to get on the CZcams thing but I figure it would be cool to t to take you catch some fish with someone who loves fishing as much as me. Bottom line I have always loved fishing and helping people out, far as getting people out on the water to enjoy the outdoors, I'm about that.
how's the Pec been for fishin this year?
Water is really low on the pec. I enjoy shore fishing more than boat fishing. May take up your offer on the Pec though since shore access is limited.
