There is one physical difference between fiddle and violins and that is the arch of the bridge. A fiddle bridge is flatter and a violin bridge has more of an arch. Other than than it's strings vs strangs.
You, sir, have reached "auto like" status in my book! You've been taking us all down a very interesting musical road without a clunker in sight. Always excited to see a notification for your channel. Besides the awesome music you've grown yourself a wonderful community of music fans. Thank you for being so interactive with your subs and being so willing to trust our suggestions. It's been a great ride and can't wait for more!
I don't know why it gives me tingles to see your reactions to great music but it does! lol Keep on with your journey. BTW The Jompson Brothers with Chris will show you his more rock side.
I discovered the Steeldrivers and then later Chris Stapleton and then found out Chris was part of the Steeldrivers! Mind blown and yet then it made since.
It’s a violin...”fiddle” is another word for it. I play one also. I absolutely love the Steeldrivers! Glad you are doing reactions to them, extremely talented musicians! They deserve more recognition!
Man I have been trying to get someone! Anyone! To react to this video. I have been a Chris fan and SteelDrivers fan long before he was known because Im a bluegrass man myself. Thank you so much for checking this one out. You will find some of the best harmonies in bluegrass. If you get a chance and want to scratch that bluegrass itch,. check out Del McCoury Band "Get Down on your Knees and Pray"
I believe her name is Tammy Rogers. The guitar is a dobro. Listen to the song "Ballad of Curtis Lowe" by Lynyrd Skynyrd". They talk about Curtis Lowe playing the dobro, and he was the finest picker to ever play the blues. This song was some good bluegrass pickin'!
A violin and a fiddle are the same instrument, the difference is how you play it. A violin’s got strings, a fiddle’s got straaangs. The guitar is a steel resonator guitar, playing with a slide gives it that distinctive sound. Love the video and the reactions, this song is pure bluegrass, note how the band doesn’t have a drummer, and how haunting those high lonesome sounding harmonies are.
Thank you for continuing to do reactions to Chris Stapleton. My new favorite track. And I love the fact that Chris Stapleton continues to collaborate with other artists.
Jamel I am back again! I think I have been here since the beginning or darn close. I really enjoyed your finding and reacting to Chris. I think that's where my enjoyment started for reaction channels. ✌
Tammy Rodgers plays the fiddle, and thet was a steel guitar called a dobro, I've been listening to this kind of music my whole life and the steel drivers are probably my favorite, of course because of Chris and his amazing vocals, this is mountain music at its best.
@@jamelakajamal have you ever heard the band Chris Stapleton was with called The Jompson Brothers? If not give them a listen. Thank you for what you do brother. I feel a kindred spirit with you...
Love this new format with the thought bubbles. It keeps you from interrupting the song, yet still tells us what you are thinking. Also, whenever anyone discovers a love for Chris's voice, I always hope they'll dig deep enough to listen to the Steeldrivers. They are greatness.
The instrument played by the dude in the background is a Dobro. It's meant to be played flat, with the string side up, but he was playing it like a regular guitar. Also, the fiddle player/backup vocalist is Tammy Rogers.
every member of the steeldrivers was a session musician, people hired out to play on other famous singers albums, so thats why they are so good but never heard of them
I know I'm late to the party so to speak but Chris Stapleton has been in the music scene for years. If you haven't already, check out his other band THE JOMPSON BROTHERS, either way he is definitely a talented musician and prolific songwriter. I'd love to see you react to JAMEY JOHNSON, he's untouchable in his own right as well
I had never heard this before either and it was fun watching it in your car! And Country and bluegrass, any good old Mountain Music it's called a fiddle. If you ever get a chance, watch some classical music, in this genre it's called a violin. They both are the same instrument, fancy folks( violin ), unfancy folks( fiddle )♡
Bluegrass is the white people version of Blues, essentially. It has its roots in the Scottish and Irish immigrants who settled in the Southeast US, it has the very percussive nature of Celtic music, and the improvisational spirit of Jazz. There are no drums in bluegrass, the entire band serves as the rhythm section, and each instrument taking turns at solos. A bluegrass band is typically 5 pieces: a guitar, a bass, a banjo, a mandolin, and a fiddle. The vocal harmonies use a 1st and a 5th to achieve that “high lonesome sound”, which suits the lyrical theme of many bluegrass songs.
The entire Steeldrivers "Reckless" album is AWESOME! Take a listen please! And that melodic sound is known as "The Old Lonesome" sound... You'll hear it a lot if you start listening to Bluegrass. Gives me goosebumps! Glad you're enjoying it, brother!!
Please do CAN YOU RUN by the Steeldrivers. It's a great Civil War song. CZcams has a recorded and a live version. I think you'll really love it. Written by Stapleton and Mike Henderson (the guy playing the resonator guitar in Blue Side of the Mountain).
Tammy Rogers is the ladies name. she is playing a fiddle. it is a violin but used in country music its called a fiddle. the guy is paying a dobro also called a steel guitar.
Y’all feel free to head on down to Kentucky any time. We’ll treat you and your lady to the best bluegrass in the world and vittles that’ll make you slap your grandma, apologize, kiss her on the cheek, and slap her again!
You should react to new song called BLOW (music vid preferred) that has 3 of my favorites on it, Ed Sheeran Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars. Produced by Bruno Mars, all instrument done by Bruno and music video directed by Bruno Mars . All 3 on top of their respected genres doing a song you wouldn't expect, badass!!!! Highly recommend you know good music although it may not be your cup of tea
They sound the same live as they do on the record. Bluegrass instruments are the fiddle (Violin), mandolin, guitar, Steele guitars, tambourine ect. Chris can do any kind of music there is. He’s in another band called the Jepsom Bros. It’s more rock.
If you like that, please react to Can You Run. It's the only song I know of written from the perspective of a slave. It's another great one from Steeldrivers. She's playing a fiddle, same as a violin. The guitarist is playing a resonator guitar. It sounds different because it's made of metal instead of wood. Similar to a dobro.
This is simply blues music. Poor black people with hard lives created blues music, poor white people with hard lives created bluegrass. Seems to me poor people with hard lives have more in common with each other than we think. 9
I think Tammy is the genius behind the SteelDrivers. She should get more credit. Gary Nichols took Chris Stapletons part in the SteelDrivers. Listen to “Long Way Down” and “Burnin the Woodshed Down” featuring Gary Nichols and the SteelDrivers. Blue Grass (Country) music classic fiddle, mandolin, banjo and guitar.
Somehow :( I missed this reaction , back when you did it. Back during the depression , my *other* job was at a printing business. One of our customers was the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival (Oak Hill, NY, in Greene Co, ~ an hr south of Albany), printing their festival program. . slow, difficult, tedious one, btw , but one of the more satisfying, & worthwhile ones, nonetheless. The Grey Fox site had 1-3 (complete)song samples of the musicians at that year's festival. That's where I first encountered , when he was with them. Don't think I've heard anything from him I don't like. :)
Edward Bunch yes, Sturgill is awesome, MIDNIGHT TRAIN TO MEMPHIS with him and Chris Stapleton on SNL is dope!!!!!!! They kill it playin the guitar too!!!
The difference between a violin and a fiddle is that a violin has strings and a fiddle has strangs.😉🤣😉 That was great. I haven't heard that one.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fiddle is Saturday night
Violin is Sunday morning
Haha
It's a fiddle if you're buying it, and a violin if you're selling it.
Perfect!
There is one physical difference between fiddle and violins and that is the arch of the bridge. A fiddle bridge is flatter and a violin bridge has more of an arch. Other than than it's strings vs strangs.
I am not into bluegrass country music but Chris Stapleton slays anything he puts his voice too!!
He’s the MAN
she makes that fiddle scream, and with his voice and their harmonies they are just incredible
The ladies name is Tammy Rogers - a founding member of the Steel Drivers.
👍🏾
They all from the same area of Kentucky? If you know.
you know by now all the members had already had successful careers before they formed Steel Drivers
Ghost of Mississippi is another fav of mine when be was with The Steeledrivers.
Mine too.
Jamal, the woman in this video is an American singer-songwriter named Tammy Rogers. Another great SteelDrivers track to try is Ghosts of Mississippi.

Fiddle is the name used if a violin is used in country or bluegrass music.
A violin and a fiddle are the same instrument, the difference is how you play it. A violin’s got strings, a fiddle’s got straaangs. The guitar is a steel resonator guitar, playing with a slide gives it that distinctive sound.

One of my favorite songs ever! Glad you loved it!
SO GOOD!!
Mine too now!!
BUNCH of gifted musicians there!! Love resonator guitars!!
Great reaction to an awesome song! Ghosts of Mississippi is another good one by them.
👍🏾
I love watching your reactions. You seem so open to different genres of music and seem to truly appreciate something about each of them.
YES INDEED👍🏾
Thank you for continuing to do reactions to Chris Stapleton. My new favorite track. And I love the fact that Chris Stapleton continues to collaborate with other artists.

Chris Stapleton was with The Steeldrivers long before he went solo. He left them to go solo.
Welcome to bluegrass!
👍🏾
Straight up Bluegrass...country folks been hearing it all their lives. Great for Stapleton to get grounded in this band.
Tammy Rogers. She has been around Nashville for a while and played with many of the biggest names out there. Whole band is incredible
So they were formed together in Nashville. Not Kentucky. Thanks for that
Jamel I am back again! I think I have been here since the beginning or darn close. I really enjoyed your finding and reacting to Chris. I think that's where my enjoyment started for reaction channels. ✌
This was an amazing video of pure talent!

Curtis Loew played a dobro.
So deep and dark like the hurtin down in my heart.... hits like a nine pound hammer.
Never heard this song. Love it!

I'm not a bluegrass listener but Chris Stapleton makes me a fan of whatever genre he sings.
He Kills it every time

Such a GREAT SONG!!
I believe that was Alison Krause on the fiddle, and that was a steel guitar he was playing. Two old bluesmen Bukka White and Son House played them.
She was on the fiddle killing the strangs...
YES INDEED SHE WAS
They sound so good together. I wonder if they ever get back together to play songs for fun.
Love your reactions Jamel! Love your honesty and kindness🥰😘
She can make that fiddle talk
Yes indeed
