      Well lets look at this:
"to employ non-UK residents for a UK business, a sponsor licence must be obtained from the Home Office so that a Certificate of Sponsorship can be issued to the migrant worker." - JMW

The biggest cost to any company on this planet is human labour. That is why the biggest threat to peoples lives at the moment if you need to work, is Ai. And it will come for many of us. That guiding technological advance. Driverless cars will see off Taxi drivers, Bus drivers, Delivery drivers, wagon drivers. We already have driverless trains. It will eventually see off airline pilots. Production in factories already have been hit by robotics on car manufacturing lines. Even the trades are under fire, tech is introducing plumbing devices and fittings that are easily replaceable and installed by the DIY enthusiast. Someone with very little plumbing skills can watch a quick CZcams video on how to install a bath for example using push-fit fittings, no soldering required and do it themselves. Ai already replacing solicitors with online advice etc etc etc etc..

The biggest threat to people's lives at the moment is neoliberalism. In a world where AI was properly regulated and harnessed for the public good, life would be awesome, people could be supported to retrain en masse to sectors where AI had yet to reach, and gradually we'd be able to start working fewer hours. Instead, we're going to see mass unemployment

Yes cost to the consumer may increase, but those consumers are now more likely to be gainfully employed at a wage that enables them to afford products at a higher price. That's how an internal economy works.
Historically often foreign financiers in the City have seen immigrants as simply more consumers of goods and services, ergo the various investment funds etc. responsible for things like high street commercial property portfolios could project unrealistic growth - more people = more money in the economy.
That didn't happen, instead excessive pressure was placed on that economy and it broke.
The Bank of England tried to print its way out, but given the level of foreign investment now extracting that wealth and abandoning those property portfolios as tax write downs, there is a gaping hole.
The financiers know only those who care about this country will ultimately stick around to rebuild the economic activity they depend upon to generate wealth.
This will also reduce some immigration but not enough, as a significant proportion who already come never intend to get legit tax paying jobs anyway.
This only solves part of the problem.

I think you're wrong. A lot of Brits will take any job and are more than happy to take any job. Not all. But a lot. Because work is work. But when it comes to care work and jobs like that. The Brits have been pushed out and worked to the bone while a foreign workforce comes in. Takes over and the few English speaking and writing are left dealing with the extra work while being unpaid for it. Happens in every workplace. bosses won't pay a reasonable wage for British workers. But will hire 3 cheap workers, that'll turn up when it suits them. Do an awful job. And then competent British staff have to go back and redo everything. Instead of just paying for competent staff better wages in the first place. Putting all that strain on the British workforce. Who then. Don't want to do these tasks. because all they get is constant abuse, from the non native workforce and their bosses.

But it's those at the top that are increasing the costs.
