I can't believe you posted this 3 years ago and I am the first comment. In 1975 I was in university and living in my parents basement with a decent stereo. I was about to go to the university to drink some beer and play bridge when this came on the radio. I sat down and didn't get up until this finished. I went out the next day and bought this album.
like many others I consider "Year of the Cat" among the finest compositions created, but Roads to Moscow accurately tells the tragic history of Russian soldiers who, if caught behind the lines, were considered potential traitors and were sent to Siberian work camps until they died. Josef Stalin was notoriously paranoid and sent thousands to their deaths as well as starving 7 million Ukrainians to death. Sad history.
