Helped having a very chill cat that wasn't afraid of anything when we got a feral kitten afraid of everything including us.

I’m from mexico and thank you so much for adopting him, we have a really serious issue with stray dogs and cats and there isn’t a lot of education or consciousness about this. Shelters that care about the animals and try so hard to find them a good and loving home are so appreciated. Thank you for giving him all the love he deserves!!! ❤❤
Jack is adorable! Poor Benson looks shellshocked. Hoping they will be best friends soon.
He has been with us for a week now and when Jack arrive home after his vet appointment yesterday, benson went to greet jack before us, so clearly he is starting to become friends with Jack.

I was just about to tell you to praise and treat Jack when he pees outside and then you said that he peed on Benson's face. Poor Benson; he's such a trooper. You are being so patient and Jack seems to be adjusting well to his new home. Best wishes to all of you.

This was delightful. I loved watching the two of them prancing after you. Maybe Jack can help Benson learn more tricks once he catches up to him. He definitely picked up sit fast!
Jack is still quite young, so you can expect the crazy puppy behavior for a while. If you are still having trouble with the peeing, get a really desirable treat that you only give both of them when they pee outside (on the ground , not on someone else’s face). It needs to be something that Jack loves, but that you only give him when he potties correctly. So try out several things. (My dog loves cheese, so when we were potty training she would get a little piece of cheese. We also rescued her when she was just over a year old.) Also, depending on when he was neutered, it can take several months for his hormones to balance out, which is likely contributing to him peeing inside and on his brother. So time should help with that as well. He’s lucky he’s so cute, lol. Can’t wait to see you make some matching sweaters for the three of you.
Luckily, Jack will eat literally ANYTHING! Ill give that a try next time they go outside. ❤
Pugs are amazing dogs!!! Their little personalities are all so different! We have 3! Watch out, pugs are like cookies - you can't have just one. LOL

Congratulations on your new pup! I do have some advice for you as a fellow pug owner. Grooming and maintenance--their toenails can grow like crazy, so they may need a monthly trim, their nose wrinkles and ears need to be cleaned regularly or they can get infections, and their anal glands can be problematic, so make sure you get them expressed on the semi-regular or checked by the vet. As for the potty training, you're doing a great job. Just be patient and consistent. Pugs are very stubborn and most hate being outside in rain or snow. Once he gets the idea that you are going to stay outside until he potties, he'll get the idea. My pug used to try to refuse to go outside at all if it was raining or snowing, as in she would flop over on the end of the leash and play dead. Best of luck!
Jack is completely adorable with all that puppy energy, pretty much the opposite of Mr. Mellow Benson. Just give Jack plenty of time to adjust, he left all the friends he knew and came across 3 different countries into a whole new world. Maybe just focus on the potty training for now, that's stress enough on the pup (and everyone). He'll catch on soon, especially with Benson setting the example. I can't wait to see more of him in future videos. Happy Yule!

I have a pug too . I was told better to use a harness than a collar on them as a collar if they pull can damage their trachea. He is so cute and Bensons so sweet . Your such a good doggy mum .
He is so cute 😍 you need to get him a different kind of leash, like the ones that are like a body harness because the collar is not really suitable for pugs, it can be dangerous for their eyes (the pressure can make them fall out in extreme cases) and their breathing.

My dad had a dog named soup when he was a kid they named him that because soup was the first thing they fed to him

He's adorable! And obviously very smart. Benson looks like he's at least resigned to the idea that there's a new dog here.
Please get Jack an harness, since they have a shorter nose, pugs & pug mixes do better with a harness so they don’t cut of their own air when pulling on the leash. Also due to their built they can easily free themselves from a normal collar. We have had pugs & pug mixes for such a long time & that something that is very important. Even if they have a long nose you should take care. Anyways you guys are such a cute family 🤍
My first rescue was a senior pug so I was so excited to see you rescued a pug!!! When Sasha passed, I had to get another rescue which is my current dog a Boston terrier named Cookie!

Gosh he is so cute!! I have a pug myself and they have the best temperaments - also like mine, he looks like he has a little more of a snout which is great for breathing!! Mine walks for at least 1 hour a day with me, she's 11 now and the most beautiful dog I ever could've wished for
I have a pug, and I found that my boy wasn't fully grown until closer to 2 year old. I think Jack could possibly fill out more in the chest if he's going to grow like my little puggy boy! You are going to love Jack. Pugs are so full of personality and craziness. There's never a dull moment with them! I'm so excited to watch Jack grow through your videos

That’s puppy love picking up a dog during you deep sleep hours. Remember he is from Mexico. Possible no snow. Maybe no snow where comes from. Be patient rehousing. Crate train might help until potty train. You have to reinforce affection with existing dog to reduce jealousy. Best of luck and puppy kisses

@@JennaPhipps Thank you. We didn’t plan on getting another dog quite so soon, but five weeks ago we adopted a sweet but anxious border collie named Archie. He is helping to heal our broken hearts.

I love Jack!! He such a sweet boy. I have two pugs. I just adopted a male and he’s about 6 months old and I have a 13 year old female. One thing about pugs is they are stubborn but they are the sweetest dogs. They always want to be by your side. ❤
I’ve adopted a street dog who’d never lived in a home before and never had any accidents inside by doing the following - I took her out every hour for a toilet break - setting an alarm or going on the hr to not forget. I don’t have a garden either so it was leashed walk over to infront of my house at the edge of the field (minimal walking to encourage getting used to that spot just for the toilet breaks then coming inside). She was 4 years old so didn’t have a puppy bladder or need to go every hour, but going anyway meant I got to learn how long she was comfortable waiting, vs how long was too long - over time we’d change it to 2 hrs, then to 3. I never made her wait more than 3-4 hrs.
Jack seems young but also i appreciate its incredibly difficult living in an apartment and doing what I did - a safe alternative is to dog proof your balcony and buy a cheap roll of lawn grass in a tray or litter box to walk him out leashed every hour to practice. Doing it hourly is not just about the bladder control, but about strengthening and solidifying a routine so that it’s clear the expectation is to only pee outside..eventually the idea of peeing will be paired with leaving the apartment, so once he’s older, jack should start communicating by approaching the balcony or door or front door that he needs to leave to go toilet. Best of luck :) not all breeds learn at the same rate and pugs are notorious for being more stubborn and less quick to train, but repetition is key - he’ll get there at his pace:)
So happy your family grew. This reminds me so much of the time we got our first rescue dog from Spain! We had the same issues getting him to understand that he was supposed to pee outside 😆
As a lifelong pug owner/lover, keep Jack & Benson together every minute. In bed, on walks, etc. Jack will learn faster. Pugs are stubbornly sweet. You got the best friend/companion for Benson. Patience! He is a young pug, he will get fatter and bigger. Pugs are gluttons btw. Harness for Jack, he will eventually slip his head out of his collar.

What a cutie 🥰 two dog transition is always a process but once they’re settled in it’s so rewarding. We just adopted our second dog in October and they’re finally lovey with each other and have pretty much figured everything out. And now we get double the cuddles and double the loves.

Thanks for rescueing him! He looks so cute. We got our cat Vicky from Spain. Many people did not understand why we adopted a cat without meeting her first. But when you know, you know. We had to wait 1.5 months for her to fly out to Amsterdam. She is now 9,5 years old, this is her second christmas with us, we are so thankfull to have her with us, she is the best fit personality wise for us. I just knew when I saw her. Unfortunately she has fiv, but is very healthy and very very active (like Jack🤣) when not asleep. I’m sure he will learn very quick, it just takes some time for them to adjust. Enjoy your little family, I hope you have the best christmas with the four of you!❤

I'm not sure if it was mentioned by anyone but gluing some felt around the edges and back of the ornament could help it look nice and maybe help protect it if the ornaments fall

My pup is a similar situation from Korea, and there was another dog we almost got but, like you, was denied. I'm a firm believer that dogs find their people, so welcome home Jack!

We adopted 2 dogs from Portugal that we were told 18mths old, we also had pee problems to begin with but after a week we cracked it. 3yrs later I'm in love them more than anything, it's so rewarding to rescue an animal 💖

Congrats on your new rescue, he is adorable. Jack may benefit from wearing a belly band in the house. Our rescue did great with it and wore it for a couple of weeks indoors only. Now he is potty trained perfection!
