  • I could write a book about travelling with a large instrument :) Sharing a few snippets about my travels with the Veena in today's episode. The idea of Cup O' Carnatic Nostalgia series came to me as I was practicing a song I learned a long time ago. Music is such a wonderful vehicle that brings back myriads of emotions and memories. Nostalgia is a glimpse into my journey as an artist focusing on different aspects every week!

    Cup O’ Carnatic is an original web series launched in 2017 and it has had 3 successful seasons with more than 2 million views cumulatively on social media. The series aims to popularize Carnatic music in general and Veena in particular and each episode handles a specific subject with duration of about 5 minutes or less.
    Why the name Cup O' Carnatic? There were a couple of reasons for this. Carnatic Music is a vast ocean and the episodes aim to only give a small glimpse of this world - in a Cup. And the hope is that you'll be able to watch an episode in the time it takes for you to finish a Cup of tea or coffee. Enjoy!

    An amazing series again, this time about the journey of a Vainika. A beautiful journey, presented in such an engaging manner, with anecdotes and so much humility.
    You are an inspiration. I loved it when you said sometimes when you are tired, you don't end up explaining about Veena. A reminder that you are still in human form. Otherwise, it's purely divine. Thank you for sharing 🙏

    Thank you for sharing both yout internal and external experiences 🙏 I got a veena and a beautiful veena case shipped ro Sydney last year. They arrived safely but the box had multiple scratches. I was heartbroken. I can imagine how meticulous you would have been in your travels to aafegaurd the precious instrument. These are untold stories and need ro be shared as part passing on the legacy of saraswati veena to posterity👍👊

    Superb 👍👌👍 Its indeed a Herculean task to carry Veena in tact without being hit , stuck and strings broken.. dismantling is indeed a difficult exercise..Initially, travelling by cars and trains was bit easier for Veenas than by air ..🤗 .. now that in transparent cases/ wooden boxes Veenas will be in tact , would make travel more convenient .. If not as hand baggage with us , we feel worried whether it will reach safe, amidst other goods baggages , and through conveyor belt and all ☺ till we land and get hold of our veena in tact . Interesting and Informative🙏👌🙏

    Sharing my recent experience of using the fiberglass veena box from Bangalore to Malaysia, it was the first time for me. Was apprehensive until I came home and the veena was intact.
    I am indeed very sad that this series has come to mangalam. Looking forward to your next series.

    Well!
    If VeeNaa is a 20 years old female, she definitely needs a seat and a berth.
    The shape of a Veena resembles that of a female with the right bulges st the right places. 😉
    Lucky VeeNaa which is your best friend as well as your musical instrument! ❣️💗

  • @narayananvedantham
    @narayananvedantham Před 2 lety

    As it is difficult to transport Saraswathi Veena especially overseas travel,why can't you use the veena available in the destination.You can borrow the instrument from local vainikas.Or since you have spent decades with your personal instrument ,you are more comfortable in playing your own veena,than somebody's instrument? Narayanan Vedantham.

      @JayanthiKumareshVeena  Před 2 lety +3

      Hmmm... You actually have given the answer in your comment. When you spend years practicing on a particular instrument, you create a connect with the instrument. It becomes a part of you and you understand the many moods of your veena. It's not easy to switch to a new one especially on the day of the concert 🙏

    • @poorvika2613
      @poorvika2613 Před 2 lety

      Correct madam.. Veena instruments resemble the same feeling like with our own baby.
