    Giovanni Paisiello is a brilliant composer that Mozart probably eclipsed. But he stands head and shoulders above the other Italian composers of his generation. A pupil of the Neapolitan School, he had a supreme gift for melody, allied with a highly individual style and idiom that foreshadow Haydn and Beethoven. My mother introduced me to classical music as a baby. You may think that unremarkable, but for an infant on the south side of Chicago (U.S.A) it was rather unique. Classical music, especially that of the classical period, has become my melodic passion. I thank God for my mother. She was a truly wonderful human being, my best friend, and I miss her terribly. Listening to compositions, such as these by Paisiello, make me think of her.

    I hear late Baroque, I hear Mozart in these works but it matters not what we call things! Paisiello offers us some lovely music that without CZcams many of us wouldn't even know existed. My collection of music includes numerous examples of operas, symphonies, concertos previously unheard or known about for more than 50 years, that are now part of my regular viewing and listening. In the Covid era, I feel lucky to "go" to a concert any time I like and with a glass of wine or other suitable refreshment, and do so for free! Long live the enjoyment from music seemingly in nobody's repertoire.

      Mozart's music definitely has more lyricism and dynamism, with a little less pattern-running than this does in places, i.e. repeating a pattern a bit too often.
      But it's very fetching in places, and I definitely thinks this deserves a greater airing.
      (I would not yet rank him though with the recent discovery of Zelenka, whose counterpoint is almost Bachian in its chromaticism in places and has a much richer texture of ideas...)

    • @zvonimirtosic6171
      @zvonimirtosic6171 Před 3 lety

      So which chord in particular did you like? Classical composers never wrote down "chord" notation. You were not hooked on "opening chords", but on the opening *movement* in a few opening measures. Chords are invisible parts of harmony here, and you can't even tell them by ear, because chords do not tell where the movement should go.

    Soltanto dall'incommensurabile e inarrivabile scuola musicale Partenopea poteva "uscire" un Genio come Giovanni Paisiello! Paisiello fu allievo prima e assistente dopo del divino Francesco Durante. Come dire da Genio a Genio. Dalla scuola musicale Napoletana "sbocciò" il più grande musicista di tutti i tempi: Giovanni Battista Draghi detto Pergolesi anch'egli discente di Durante.

      certo, ha perfettamente colto il punto, nei suoi 3 viaggi in Italia Mozart si è fermato molto a Napoli, dove ha avuto contatto con la musica partenopea di Scarlatti, Paisielloe Cimarosa che sebbene fossero nativi di altre citta del sud borbonico erano cresciuti musicalmente nel brodo culturale di Napoli che già dalla seconda metà del 1500 vantava il maggior numero di conservatori e teatri in Europa, è ovvio che la musica di mozart ne sia tata condizionata.
      Lo si riscontra nel brio e nell'allegria delle composizioni mai monotone e ripetitive che ha saputo creare, la musicalità mediterranea lo ha influenzato.

    No estoy de acuerdo que sea puro juego , detrás de la expresión hay un sentimiento armónico de la vida que hoy no podriamos tener es otro espíritu de belleza transparente hoy nuestro espíritu es turbio,una mala época para el arte y para la existencia ....................................de chile

    It sounds like Paisiello must have studied Mozart quite a deal. My mother introduced me to classical and romantic music, when I was 3-4.

      EH, according to the initial text, it was Paisiello, who inspired Haydn and Mozart. I am not surprised The music shows a composer of extraordinary format.

      One might understandably think so, but it's more likely that it was Mozart who studied Paisiello.

    旋律风格和莫扎特那么地相似啊,光听真以为是莫扎特作品,同样的优美动听,那是灿烂的18世纪。

    A complete discovery! A great composer and a tremendous recording. Is the CD available somewhere?

    C'est fou le nombre de compositeurs peu connus voir inconnus, qui à cette époque créaient une musique superbe. A l'aveugle je parierai que beaucoup d'auditeurs sincères diraient : "tiens un Mozart que je ne connais pas". Evidemment ils passeraient pour des lourdauds aux yeux des pseudo-savants.
